  • I have had no problems with talk talk. I was on OneTel and wanadoo broadband ,went over to talktalk in June and broadband in july. Apart from a minor e-mail problem early on, which righted itself in a few days.everything OK.
I now enjoy free phone calls day and night and a recent 29minute call to Austrailia cost zilch.

Despite a bad press on Watchdog etc, my Broadband with TalkTalk was up and running within the quoted time, I've not had a spot of bother with them at all!

Same here. Plus the BB service works fine and the free calls to USA are a real Godsend to me.

  • We registered for TalkTalk in June. The phone was switched over straight away. Our broadband finally (after giving them the mac code 5 times) "went live" on September 29th. Unfortunately the modem and installation disc has still not arrived. I rang them yesterday and apparently they haven't been ordered. The very helpful call centre person has now ordered them, 7 - 10 working days before they will arrive. In the meantime I am online with TalkTalk using my modem from Wanadoo. Wanadoo disconnected us on 29th September but still took our £17.99 direct debit on 1st October, so I will ring them up about cancelling the direct debit once my TalkTalk modem finally arrives.
So its not all bad but not terifically good either.

AMAZING!!! I have been with talktalk phone for 2 years now. Went ahead and asked for broadband. Given a transfer date as 30/10/06 and the nrecieve a letter yesterday saying my broadband is live. AND a decent speed of 2.2MBPS.
    VERY WELL DONE TALK TALK.

i went for the modem they suggested/provided, because although i'm sure it was probably overpriced (i have no idea really, i'm just cynical) but at least if i do have problems they can't pass the buck in that way by saying i didn't buy the "right" one.

Yes, although not hugely. Two of them are about a tenner more than you'd get online, the other about the same. It is nearly impossible to get any help from the helpline if you're not using 'their' modem, but then again, the helpline is so rubbish, I'm not sure that should be a major factor in your decision!

Anyhow, I'm connected at a decent speed (2.2 Mbps), even with my 'poxy' USB modem, so I'm happy!:D

I signed up to Talk Talk at the start of August and switched phone provider from BT in two weeks - no bother. The MAC code I provided them with ran out at the end of August but they migrated me just before it expired and the broadband has been reliable so far - a fairly painless experience.

If I have one complaint it was how the company communicated to me - I was not really kept informed of what was hapopening when - particularly since the welcome pack did not arrive until September, it was not much use. The Internet Order Check facility was reasonably up to date but I was still not sure when my phone switched exactly and when my broadband went off line for 5 days I though initially that it was an Orange fault rather than the migration to talk talk. Notably the modem turned up pretty shortly afterwards and more importantly the broadband has been reliable since then with a speed of 2.2 Mbs. I received a letter from them yesterday saying they are going to install their equipment into my local exchange so my speed may be about to increase - I was pleased that they have told me as it will result in down time - maybe they are learning.

So presumably you're not on free broadband then? I was under the impression that their equipment had to be installed in the local exchange in order for them to offer that, otherwise it would be a £10 charge on top for BB.

Don't hold your breath about the speed - practically everyone who's reported theirs seems to be on 2.2Mbps. I'm very close to my exchange and still on that speed, so I think anyone getting it faster is just very fortunate in whatever combination of proximity, line etc allows them to have that.
  • Yes I am on "free" broadband.

However, from having a near perfect setup, Talk talk appear to have screwed up the upgrade because 8 days since the upgrade was due to occur I still don't have an ADSL line. Having spent lots of time on the phone to understand why...I still don't have a satisfactory answer and life without broadband is a barren place. So no service and at the moment no likelyhood of any broadband service in the near future.
  • Changed from Plusnet to TalkTalk back in July and am delighted. Combined phone bills have never been so cheap even when I was using prefixes via my now redundant Orchid diallers.

Their communication could have been better but for what I'm saving I have been prepared to put up with that.
