I've been living on my own for 10 years and have never regretted it. I was in a very unhappy marriage and after the children (finally) left home decided that I didn't want to spend the rest of my days being unhappy.

I love my garden, reading, seeing friends and family, being a granny, watching TV programmes that I've chosen etc etc.

I'll never live with anyone again but it would be nice to have a partner who didn't live with me. If it happens, it happens but I don't actively seek to find him.

    I love my life!

I've always lived alone, never lived with anybody. It's nice having your stuff around you, just where you want it, not having to get dressed every day, watching what you want on the telly, etc.

What sucks is the sheer cost of living alone, having to do everything for yourself (full-time job, commuting, shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing up, making a coffee) ... with nobody to ever ask for help.

You have to work out how to do your washing so you have a full load of every type. I actually bought a big white towel to use just so I can make up a full load of whites.

There are lots of other annoying things, but having your stuff around you, untouched by others, is the best bit.

I've been known to go a full two weeks or more without speaking to another human being ... I tried to break that one night by buying an indian takeaway, but he was used to my calls and as soon as he saw me parking outside he got the bag ready, handed it straight over saying "thank you" and that was it... I didn't even get to say "Hello" ... just "thank you".

I am finding the cost so much less since he has been gone, (he's only been gone a few months) the house is so much cleaner, less washing etc.
I have noticed how things stay cleaner longer, I dont have to hoover as often, wash floors, even dust, I am doing less cooking, as we ate different things anyway, I dont eat meat for example, so my shopping bill is so much less, things like toilet paper/toothpaste/soaps etc is lasting much longer.

I too can go weeks and not talk to anyone, except the token call/visit from my kids, but in all honesy it has always been like this when I was married, as I didnt feel I was married, as he carried on as though he was a single man anyway and I was always stuck at home even in the weekends, very rarely did anything togther.

The change in me is so notacable, the black circles have gone where I couldnt sleep, my skin is so much clearer, and my stress levels are so low now, I am calm and chilled all the time now.

So for me, and I daresay for him, it was the right thing to do.
