How come in all the years I have been using it I have NEVER had a virus in any of my 3 computers? and I read on these forums all the time about folk whose comps are riddled and they use all these free av's, can you explain that?

Look, you can dress it up however you want, but the facts are that many free AV programs hold their own better then paid for programs. You only have to look at the av-comparatives sites to see this evidence for yourself. For example, the free MS Essentials ties with the paid for Kaspersky. Ie. neither product is better than the other, other than one doesn't cost you anything.

I'm not sure why you are finding all this so hard to understand.

How would you know if theyre biased or not?

    Independent tests.

If everyone thinks everyone (or every company) lies about everything there is no point in discussing anything anymore is there? It could all be falsified! :D
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.

    - the unbiased opinions of computer mags are called infomercials, even you can have one in your name if you pay enough.

    - you would however need to sell at least one of your ocean going yachts to pay for the advert !

Sorry, don't mean to be rude, but get wise :D

    As above again!!

So why don't people stop moaning and try to help the OP?

    You stated 'computer mags' though

Im sorry, but I find it very difficult to believe that theyre unbiased when those same companies are paying the mags vast amounts of money to advertise in them

The only test I truly believe is the AV COMPARITIVES one

    - because threads evolve
    - because the last post by the O/P was on Thursday the 17-06-2010 @ 5:10 PM

Airwolf1, if the O/P comes back I'm sure the group will continue to help, but help offered is a direct response to a request - and the request is not there.

    NOTE :

in #54 you bleat that no one is responding to a 5 day old request
in #53 you yourself are guilty [ if that's the word ] of doing what you are berating others for in #54
