I am beginning to feel that things are slowly improving or at least not so scary and overwhelming. It's amazing when you start back on your MSE ways how things feel better.Did a freezer inventory and 2 weeks menu plans. Getting back on track!
Having de-cluttered the kitchen(so far that's as far as I've got) I have determindley put things away in there all weekend - it's like breaking a bad habit.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Today has been quite a good day: Work was ok. Have really cleaned the kitchen, bottled my Elderflower Cordial and done the first of this weeks ironing.
Finacially: Transfered money into savings account.
Made a payment to catalogue and was offered final settlement if I paid there and then. Couldn't afford that but will research this subject on these trusty boards.

I have a tip for quitting smoking. I had a 30 a day habit and had smoked for 12 yrs before I gave up, which was 6 yrs ago. Basically I worked out that to stop me smoking I needed to do something which replaced the action/time spend smoking. So each time I wanted a fag I made a cup of tea. Sounds simple enough, eh? Filling the kettle waiting for it to boil etc etc took about as long as it did to smoke a fag and it worked. Of course it does not have to be tea making but something else which will fill your time and give you something to concentrate on.
Good luckDebt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
Thanks for that Mummyoffour. I have been looking and thinking ( that's as far as I'd got) about my smoking habits. I currently smoke 25 a day. My OH also smokes but very few.
I have decided that from tommorow I am going to try to only have a ciggie every hour. I don't have any problem for the 4 hours I am at work - which prooves it's when I am not occupied that I smoke.
So going to try to be buzy, keep de-cluttering and hopefully then not smoking!:DDebt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

If you want to give up smoking, you should try to see a smoking counsellor/advisor. I was on 20+ a day and to be honest, it was the cost, more than anything, that made me want to give up. OH also smokes but won't even consider giving up, as he says, he doesn't go to the pub, he doesn't spend money on clothes, dvds, other women, etc (:D as if!) but he does like his fags. I used patches and I must admit, I was surprised how effective they were. It has been a bit of a rollercoaster, I have good weeks and bad weeks. But I have really cut down (5-6 a day now!) and I feel so much better. We put aside the money that I saved and we bought a new telly, just in time for the World Cup :T
As you said before...baby steps is the way to go. Make a list of the pros and cons of smoking and build yourself up to seeing someone about it. Many pharmacies and most, if not all doctors surgeries offer this service...go on...just try it and see. You may surprise yourself!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Thanks Barbiedoll for that information. Last year I did see the nurse at our practice and with the help of patches She then put pressure on me not to have any a day. It was basically, you smoke any - no more patches. That was it, I didn't go back:D. As you know you don't need pressure!
Up until 9pm yesterday I managed hourly and hoping to do the same again today. SO FAR SO GOOD.
I have virtually got the house sorted out now, still a few things that need returning to their rightful place, but hopefully that will happen by the end of the week.
It's still a struggle to keep on top of things, but keep saying "babysteps all the way".
Got the big one to face this week: Sort all the paper work out:eek: I find that one particularly hard but don't think there's any nasty suprizes this time.Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

That's very naughty of her, she is supposed to encourage you, not threaten you! My counsellor is very supportive and as a ex-smoker herself, she knows that everyone slips up now and again. Glad to see that you're doing so well yourself though :T
And good to see that your diary is helping, I should do that myself. The garden is like a tip and the house is not much better :rotfl:"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Thank you all for your replies. Haven't been able toupdate my diary as laptop was poorly, for a few weeks - we thought it was terminally ill, but a good friend has restored it to good health. We've lost Vista, but to me that's no loss and at least got a lap top back.
