Are there any travel insurance companies that cover you when you're drunk?
It's for my 18 year old daughter and i foresee problems!
Been told that most don't, in fact, that maybe all don't...
I can understand why they don't but that doesn't help me knowing my daughter will be clubbing it every night!!!
As a side issue, also been told that some/most/all wont even cover for things like jet skiing, etc.
Cheers in advance0 -
As far as I know there are no companies that do that, why would they? if you get drunk and have an accident or need hospitalisation because of it. You're right most companies have a long list of exemptions for extreme sports etc too so if she's likely to be doing jet skiing, or any other sport she would need to be covered for that too!0

I hear what you're saying ceejay and thanks.
But it's not straightforward...for example, what's the definition of being drunk? Would the insurance company require proof, e.g. a blood test from the hospital and so on?
USwitch say:
"Also, beware of boozing on holiday. If you are drunk – which is defined as anything over the UK legal limit – your claim will not be covered if, say, you were robbed or hurt."
I can't post the link coz i'm a new member but that's on their website.
Presumably 'UK legal limit' means the driving limit?! On that basis most people wouldn't be covered for at least half their holiday! Frightening!!!
Think i'll just have to tell her to be careful...!0 -
I think as far as insurance is concerned they do get blood test results and it would even be a small amount, legal limits are a lot less than ours in some countries like Spain.0

A teetotal holiday it is then. ;-)0

We've booked Florida for 15 days commencing 22 August 2016. Can we get travel insurance this far in advance? (Just in case something happens which results in us having to cancel)There will always be:
A “LIE” in BELIEVE, an “OVER” in LOVER, an “END” in FRIEND, an “US” in TRUST , and an “IF” in LIFE0 -
I have booked & paid for flights for some family members, but will not be on those flights myself. (I'm flying a few days earlier). I have travel Insurance, and so do the family members. What happens if they cannot fly for some reason? Whose insurance covers the costs?0

Anyone had any experience of claims with this Company. I was taken ill last week on a cruise and got a bill of $4000! Nothing to do with any of my pre-existing conditions declared to them, buth there's always that nagging doubt that they may not pay. I have paid up front and it's a lot of cash to lose.0
