Jellybaby, have you asked your insurers whether you can be granted an interim payment while you have gone onto half pay?
:grouphug: Bitsy - I have been in your situation, and I know how hard it is to get out and force people to be your friends, although I didn't really help by moving away from everyone to move in with OH
How about trying a Knit & Natter, or a book group at your local library? They may have a noticeboard for clubs & groups that has something to catch your interest, although I understand that it isn't easy going into a room where you know no-one.
Or have you thought about an adult education class? Maybe a short course in something like conversational french, or pottery?
Ooooh me knit?! That's not something I "do" - me and needles don't mix :rotfl: I go to my tap class every week and the ladies there are lovely and friendly. I suppose what I want is for my existing mates to make more effort.......sadly I don't think that's going to happen. Still you lot have cheered me up no end so thank you xx
Oh and if anyone has got a friends request on FB from someone they don't know then it's meTappers sent a load of friends suggestions to me (Candygirl you are one of them) and I actioned them without adding a message to who I am - mind you I am not sure who you all are too :rotfl::rotfl: Still it's all rather exciting :T
Anyway I've derailed this thread long enough. DD is up and I have to stuff some lunch down my neck and get some housework done so I shall disppear for the mo.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Bitsy and Reverbee ((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))
I only have one close friend , we have been through so many things and supported each other for over 15 years and the real true friends are the ones who stick by you in laughter and tears.
Plus I find the older I get the more of an unsocial so and so I become :rotfl::rotfl:
I love this forum because everyone sticks by you no matter what and there is always plenty of wise advice and kind words so don't worry girlies we are all your friendsx
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Tappers, big hugs to you too :kisses3:, hopefully his tutour can give you some help, chin up, and no cryingor you will start me off
Been up to mum and dads, cut the hedge back, mowed their lawns, strimmed, and cut a load of plants back, they have a path down to the bottom of the garden, which you could not get down cos it was so overgrown, looks a lot better now.
They have a huge garden, which is really too much for them now, dad can't get about like he used to, and my mum cant do much at all, they really need to sell it, and buy a small house with a managable garden, but dad refuses to, not sure what will happen really cos they just cant manage it
Got my feet up for 1/2 hour, will then have a shower, make the burgers for tea, and collect my lovely DD.
Have good afternoons all xx0 -
hello:j, well his plane has landed:D after quite a delay. I think it will be quite late by the time he gets here as they have to get luggage, get through customs, get picked up by ex`s mum and taken back to Manchester to get the car from her house, they will prob have a cuppa there as it isnt worth driving in rush hour. So I am guessing prob 7ish when he gets here......very tired and grumpy no doubt but will be so glad to get him home:T......even seeing that his plane had landed and he was back in the same country as me made me feel quite tearful:o.....must be the day for it, we must all be hormonal:rotfl:
Taplady hope things get sorted for DS2,it must be very stressful.
I had a phonecall from Childrens Hosp today and DS is going in next Fri for the afternoon to have 4 or 5 teeth out and caps put on all others( he has hypoplasia) under GA:eek:......am dreading it. He will need to be nil by mouth which he just will not "get" at all, not to mention the pain when he comes round etc. Has anyone elses little one had this or similar? Just wondering how he will be for school on the Mon. I think I`d better warn work when I go in next week just incase he is still a bit off colour esp after having a GA.
Still this op and his trip to Spain were the 2 things I was dreading this year so at least in 2 weeks time they will both be over and done with:p0 -
redruby - I wont cry - I promise:) glad to see you and Bitsy are now friends:T you've been a busy bee today havent you - have a cuppa and a rest now, you deserve it!
just got my cheese and potato pies on the go - 6 individual ones - yum yum I just love them:) having one for tea with beans and a glamorgan(veggie) sausage.
tomorrow I'm making a birthday cake as its Taplord's birthday on Thurs - I wont see him as I'll working long hours so we're celebrating tomorrow instead.(he'll be 48:eek: ) he wants a fresh cream sponge
he's already chosen/bought his pressies, MP3 player, cd drive for his lappy and some fishing things - all off Ebay so not expensive.
better get back in the kitchen for a bit xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
NPM - my DS had teeth done under general when he was younger and was fine apart from the anasthetic making him sick. I've recently taken a gentleman I work with to hospital(blind, learning disbilities, no speech and with a hatred of doctors) and everyone there was brilliant. He coped much better than anyone thought and there was no pain afterwards as they inject painkiller into the gums(he had 10 teeth out:eek:) also he was given a drug to knock him out that didnt involve a needle so much less stressfull for everyone.
Hopefully they will get him done as early in the day as possible so he doesn't get distressed waiting.
You'll be amazed at how quick he'll recover.
Good luck with it.
not long now till he's home xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Good Afternoon Everyone
Loadsa (((hugs))) today - Bitsy, Taplady & everyone else who needs one.
Bitsy - it is hard when the children are young but now mine are that little bit older and DD can babysit DS, I find it is easier to keep in touch with old mates as we meet up in the evenings once every 4-6 weeks. Can clearly remember how cliquey playgroups can be
Rushed out this morning to drop off a lorry with OH, essential office work done and a load of washing on the line. Have marinated pork for tonights pork kebabs and just about to start a couple of hours worth of ironing. Don't mind doing it today as the sun keeps disappearing and there is quite a cold breeze.
Am very pleased with myself today, DD remembered late last night that its her friends birthday today, I had a pressie in my present drawer, card and wrapping my my useful boxes - it makes a change for me to be so organised.
Off now to do the ironing & watch mindless TV.x0 -
Afternoon all,
Happy Noah day:j NPM have been thinking about you a lot. Enjoy your reunion.
Was only going to post that but, having read the posts am going to stick my beak in:D
Bitsy I know what you are going through. Please have a very dodgy hug from sunny Manchester. For what its worth I love reading your posts and you often cheer me up and make me smile.
I think loneliness is the plague of the modern age-we live in an age of instant communication yet it is harder than ever to have "real" friends.
I am so grateful for this site. I think the daily is like a big extended family we may sometimes disagree and even squabble but if any of use has a problem then God help whoever is hurting us.
Anyway, somethings never change:o Can't find my list to will need to read and reply later.
Taplady hugs to all of you. Your pies sound fantastic.(see I can remember posts about food:o:D)
Reverbe I am sorry you too, are lonley. Although I must disagree with you about one thing. Your "detractor" would not be pleased to know you had problems or that you were unhappy. Thats not the way this board works. Also I know who you mean and she is a lovely, warm and caring person. She would never wish anyone bad things.
Anyway, better crack on with some food for the himself as he had about a squillion exam papers to look at.
Will read and post later.
Honest.
Have a good day and please take care of yourselves-:Awhat would I do without you?

Oh yeah NPM ENJOY tonight. xBlind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.
:A Level 42- the reason I exist. :A0 -
NPM - glad to see Noah's landed. Hugs about his teeth op - still like you say it will be out of the way and hopefully he'll be all the better for it.
Oh and ladies no more crying. I'd just put some more mascara on and I want it to stay there LOL!!! I think it must be the hormones - probably good job N9eav and StroppyJock are not around at the mo, might scare them offI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Afternoon all,
Bitsy....big hug from me, have never lived away from family and still have friends from my childhood, would agree with the suggestion to join something, anything to get to know people, you might find yourself a new talent! The tapping is a good start and ask around for other social clubs, for want of a better term....what about the WI....know that the ICA, our similar organisation is a great way to meet new people.
NPM....I am sure that Noah has had a ball but will be just as anxious to see you as you are to see him.
Just bought 3 peppered steaks for €5....not sure what they will be like but they weigh almost 2 lbs so will consider getting more if they go down well with OH and DD3, who has dinner with us on Tuesdays. Am going to do broccoli with them and new potatoes, can't wait for my own potatoes to be ready, just starting to flower now so a while to wait yet.
Cloudy here to-day, warm and pleasant, did some weeding earlier, could spend 24/7 at it at present but will just do my best, don't really trust OH to weed as he tends to dispose of flower plants if they are not yet in flower! Would love to get another Lavatera Csarina, but they seem to be hard to find, may have to settle for some bits from BIL to start in a pot.
Knitting another baby cardigan at present, anything to avoid concentrating on the football! may even have an early night to escapt to-night, as in spite of his 2 hearing aids OH seems to need it far too loud for me.
Hugs to all in need or want of one
