Would you wear this dress to a wedding?

Oh Sue, everyone else said Black was the best colour.
This is gorgeous and I love it: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PINK-HEART-50S-PINUP-PROM-PARTY-DRESS-SZ-8-10-12-14-/270551361058?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Women_s_Clothing&var=&hash=item84b6cfea28#ht_2357wt_1137
Are there any shops that sell dresses like this anywhere in Herts/Cambs/Beds? I bet there are loads on London but it is such a full day and no-one to look after the kids for me.
Re: Would it be out of place? No!! Besides, I've not spoken to half the people I'll see for many years. No-one really has any time for us and my siblings recently got married and they seemed to have 'forgotten' our invites so you can be sure as hell they notice me!!
PS. I am getting nothing else done at the moment and spend my days looking at dresses *sigh* LOL.0 -
Well, I have limited fashion sense, but I still wouldn't wear black to a wedding. But that last dress you've found is more pink than black, so that's fine! I like that one! Mind you I liked the first one too.
I just feel that if you're too black, everyone will think you're trying to say something about your opinion of the marriage. Or at least some people will. OK, if either of my sisters had turned up to my wedding in black, I'd have been pretty peed off with them. A black jacket over something else, fine, but not a dress that's more black than anything else.
If it's just me, then it's just me! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I have just bought that self same polka dot one in black and pink its gorgeous its for a wedding next weekend where i am the witness.blue_monkey wrote: »Well. I spend all of yesterday working and forgot to call them again (tch,I should put it on 'my list), I've got a couple of months yet so my head in not in dress mode. So I have started trawling again and I've found the same dresses on eBay but cheaper, here is a link to their store online (not the ebay one) http://www.scenedead.co.uk/shop_scenes_scene/scene_clothing_dresses_skirts.html Now I don't know what to wear as there are so many to choose from.
I will be back with my decision. I do however like this one as it is very practical: http://www.scenedead.co.uk/products/pinup_hellbunny_polkadot_dress.html
How am I going to ever choose....??
I have black shoes with skulls and cross bones instead of polka dots to go with it.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

My MIL wore black from head to toe for our wedding - and she isn't smiling on any of the pictures. She said didn't want us to get married when we got engaged

I never thought about the black thing, I've seen loads of people in black at weddings and never gave it a thought.
I am watching some stuff on eBay at the moment to see if I can get a bargain. Is this the worst time of year to buy dresses as even 2nd hand ones are selling for a fortune. Weird. I'll give it a week though and if I cannot get a bargain dress I am going to have to sit down and decide.
I have decided I need either a band, belt or tie around the waist because I am quite busty so I have to go for the 14 or 16 and I want to take it in at the waist, not have it hanging or flapping around as I am a 12 but am losing a bit at the moment, I should (hope) be a 10 by the time the wedding comes. I thought I might be able to take it to a dress maker and take in but an elastic or large belt would have the same effect anyway/ You can get those big ones that sit around the midriff can't you? Some of the dresses cannot be worn with a belt so they are ruled out. Some of them are quite low cut so that rules them out too.
I am going to give it a week and I'll be back to let you know what I went for. I think I'll buy the petticoat and then sell it on again afterwards as they still make a fair amount of money on eBay too.
I went to my local goth shop yesterday, they had some short ones but no long ones, also some gorgeous alternative wedding dresses - wow - but nothing to fit me, they were all small ones, and nothing in TK Maxx either.
Thanks for all the advice to everyone- all of it is appreciated I promise, I have some girly DM heels in black (not boots, they have a strap and buttons on the side but have the DM style soles), I do not wear heels much as my ankles are very weak and the slightest stumble and I am over and my ankle will crack and I'll be laid up for a week (again, LOL) - if I did there are some gorgeous ones I have had my eye on but, a lot of the dresses can be worn with flat pumps too so that would be preferable for me. We can save that for another time!!

It used to be a big no-no, but its quite fashionable now, so long as its worn the right way.
Black & white, black & fuchsia, black & pink even, black with a light/bright colour.
If you do go for a dress with black in it, then don't have black accessories or shoes, take the light or bright colour & use that.
Black looks fab with bright colours, in fact its the only way you can wear some colours if you are over 10:D0 -
Right, I am back. I've bought a dress the same as this tonight: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1950-sstyle-halter-dress-cherries-blossom-print-L-/260590514558?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Women_s_Clothing&hash=item3cac67b17e#ht_824wt_911
So is this one OK? I am hoping it will fit fine, it tapers in, has a belt so I can tie it at the waist and has a square neckline so I do not have to worry about dropping food and it getting stuck down my cleavage, LOL. I am going to get the petticoat under it (bit scary looking for black petticoats on eBay....!!) - black or red?
I do have black shoes, I'll not wear tights (going to get a spray tan. I could wear a red flower in my hair - I do have auburn hair, do you think it a problem? I could dye it dark brown for day I guess. And I could get some red flat shoes if I have to. I've never worn red though, wonder if it'll suit me as I am so pale.
However.... I do have my eye on some other dresses as well. Ha ha!0 -

I think that's really very nice and just the job for a wedding.

I love this dress! Am actually tempted to buy it myself! Will look lovely for a wedding and I'm sure the auburn hair with the red flower will look lovely
I think I personally would go for a red peticoat and probably red heels, but if you're not a heel person red pumps will still look gorgeous.0 -
Thanks, I did think red, do you not think wearing so much red would look too tarty? I saw a red/black petticoat on eBay that would probably look better.0
