Would you wear this dress to a wedding?

I must be a bit square.............. i much prefer the polka dot ones as more in keeping for a wedding,....however prefer the straps on the other dress.
You say you have no-one to ask.........could you not ask your sister her opinion ?
Have you come across any other sites that have the polka dot type with the normal strapping ? there is one on that same site with tiny polka dots but perhaps looks a bit too black for a wedding
I could but she usually wear tracksuit bottoms and a blouse..... unfortunately dress style does not seem to bode too well in my family. I am not uber close to them at all - in fact my brother and other sister both got married this year apparently but we weren't invited. My mum rang to ask what colour bag she should wear with her blue dress and then told me she had white shoes and black tights to go with it.... My sister gets her dress sense from her.
I have a friend to go and see today and she does know what would go with what so I will speak to her as well and show her these and see what she thinks.
Yes, I did see the black one with tiny polka dots but I am usually in black dresses to hide all my lumps and bumps but I am at the age now where I don't care if I have them really (is anyone else there - yay!! LOL) so want to wear something colourful.0 -
First one, absolutely fine for a wedding, and also for Butlins, one night, IMO. Do they do a 50s night at all?
Never thought of that, great idea. I am not sure but it is coming with me now!!
We have not really gone for the entertainment before, people start queueing at ridiculous times and my son will not stand there and gets sressed with the people around him but I called Butlins yesterday and spoke to them and if you have a Blue Badge you can get in at a different door and do not have to queue so turn up when the entertainment is opening. So we might be able to go and see some entertainment this time. :T
I think I'll get more wear out of the first one as I would wear that day to day so maybe I have answered my own question. I've got a long sleeved black bolero I can wear with it too.
I find it really difficult to get dresses because of my boobs but these dresses seem to be made for them, IYSWIM

I haven't read anyone elses comments - I like the first one the best. We have the same taste.0

I like the first one, but my favorite is the black one with white polka dots. If you think you might be chilly you could get a nice bolareo in any of the colours of the dress to keep you warm. Or else a shawl type pashmina thing.0

There all lovely and really good prices.0

I like the purple satin one best as it looks very luxurious.
I think however you would get a lot more wear out of the polka dot one.0 -
Love every single one. The first is probably my favourite as it's quirkier, but your red hair would go nicely with any dress you've linked to
The first red dress you linked is a little backless I think (you don't want to upstage the bride after all!) but you could still wear it with a shrug. I think a black shrug would compliment all of them, although if you go with the black polka dot a white would make it a bit more summery and contrast beautifully.
Not so keen on the satin ones simply because you might not get as much wear out of it. So my vote is for the black and white polka dot one- you can dress it up or down and get loads of wear out of it.
Oh yes, and don't worry about a petticoat- I wore a similar style dress for a ball without one and it still had a lovely flare to it. I did try a petticoat but it was a bit too bulky for my liking and made me very hot!
ETA- Missed your comment about preferring not to wear black! Get the first one- it's gorgeous. I know I'd wear it if I had somewhere nice to go!0 -
I prefer the first one too.
I think it's far more versatile, you can glam it up with petticoats but it also looks nice without as a day dress.
Could you buy some netting and make your own petticoat? If you got stiff enough net you could just to a few full circles to get the full effect rather than tiered.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
What great sites and great clothes! And great for a wedding! Who cares what anyone thinks at Butlins! Think Hi de Hi - and I doubt the dress - whichever one you choose - will be out of place!
I'd love to wear dresses like that.... too ancient now, but not old enough to have been able to wear that style first time around!
Looking forward to seeing the photos

Love the first one, very stand out and quirky...i would stare at you in that dress....in a nice way of course

Love those styles, although i couldn't carry them off, think they look good on curves moreso. I have no curves whatsoever
