I know this has probably been answered somewhere in the many threads, but when do the prices get updated on the stores check-outs??............................................ ...is it on the stroke of midnight or 8:00am or when??............................................ ........................

The time the price on the system changes is different to the time the SEL changes, giving the store a window in which to make price increases. This routine needs to be carried out to a set time (ie the time the new price goes live at the tills).

For obvious reasons, that information has not been posted in these threads...although to be honest it would not be a huge amount of help - either the job is done or it isnt.

I cant beleive a store manager would earn anywhere near £100k!!!

...anyway, its not about salary...i would have thought (and I dont know so it would be nice to have input from a tesco staff member) that the whole point of head office is to regulate all the hundreds of stores to present one unified corporate face?

Otherwise why have a head office?! Why not just franchise out the stores. Surely they have got to have the power. In fact once a store manager refused me a refund and I asked him to check with head office. HO agreed with me and told him to give me a refund, so they must have authority to do so otherwise that would not have occured.

Any staff know the concrete rules for this?

    Easily £100k. Plus car.

Don't know the concrete answer I am afraid, think the exact circumstances would play a part in the answer. Certainly Store Managers are pretty high up the food chain

Similar tale - a friend of mine got his car valeted when he complained that some liquid has leaked from his shopping in the boot of his car.

    Duder

Gutted. My weed killer leaked all over my car last week...I'd even put it in a seperate bag. I had to be through in the cleaning as it went over my baby's pram which was also in the boot.

Should have asked Tesco to foot the bill...but will know for next time.

can you r+r if its your favour e.g item is 20 quid but charged 15? or is it only the other way round

it used to be the case that tesco would R+R on underpriced items...it's in their favour to do so as you're highlighting where they aren't making enough money.

My local Tesco had 3 lots of console sels, they had a
    "buy xbox 360 / ps2 and game and save £20" sel, a
"buy xbox 360 / ps2 and game of the week and save £10" sel, and a
"buy xbox 360 / ps2 and game of the week and save £20".

The "buy xbox 360 / ps2 and game and save £20" sel was on the shelf with the xbox 360 core. I took a 360 core and a game to a till and no discount came off, went to CS who were just about to issue my refund when the member of staff when to check something. They came back and said they couldn't offer the full refund but would refund £20. I asked why the R&R policy didn't apply and they said the offer was for the xbox 360 premium pack and not the core pack (which had the save £20 sel on it). I got the store to put me though to HO, the first person I spoke to at HO said he'd have to put me on hold while he spoke to someone higher up, I was on hold for 10 mins before the phone cut out :( The store got me back on the line to HO but the guy I spoke to second basically said that they couldn't overrule the store. At this point I gave up and just got a refund.
I must say that the staff in the store where very helpful and friendly.

If the offer was for the "premium pack", the sel would have stated "premium pack"...I'm afraid...like me last Thursday, you were fobbed off.....and you should have had a full RnR..........as I believe I should have.

Yes, the policy doesnt state..."if we charge you too much"......Its "if we get it wrong"......

    Edit......I got that wrong.......

    My apologies.....

I would say so. I worked in Tesco for a Saturday job over 20 years ago and the night manager was on £45k then - (he showed us his pay slip when we all went out for a drink)

I tend to agree, however, I'd been in the store for an hour, the manager had refused the R&R and HO backed him up. I just couldn't be bothered with it any more.

Looking at the 360 boxes on the shelf, the Core system does say Xbox 360 Core System while the Prem Pack says Xbox 360 only.

Don't quote me, going from memory...but I think the Core SEL says "Xbox 360 Core" and the Premimum just says "Xbox 360". I may have got the exact wording wrong, but I dont think the Premium SEL has the word Premium in it :o

Edit - Spooky...written before the above post was made :D

Read the actual wording of the policy on the first page of this thread and you will see that you are incorrect.
