  • Because the POS material is wrong (same as last time). Apparently, this is a technical problem. It hasn't made Tesco remove the products from sale, or take the offending POS down, though...

Depends on the store. It aint up in mine ;)

Mis scans and operator errors have been excluded from r&r for around two years when the policy was adjusted to eliminate underpriced items also, I can't remember exatly when but perhaps Constantine can confirm or be more specific about when the adjustment was carried out, it was essentially to eliminate the risk of collaboration between employee and customer, undercharged items were originally included because the general idea behind the policy when introduced was that r&r would trigger a reaction and errors would be corrected quickly thus saving Tesco a lot of money as a result of undercharging or reduce the risk of prosecution and loss of customer faith in relation to overcharging, after the initial honeymoon period of rapid reaction the response time dwindled in many cases and it was busines as usual, as a result of this there was obviously no saving being made on undercharging and no benefit only risk.

I'll bow to your superior knowledge on this one. Certainly sounds reasonable to me.

  • It seems the official word from the Tesco legal Dept is that the R+R is only on the game, that is it.
Now with people still getting R+R's on the package TODAY makes me even more determined to get the Money back, Trading standards are going ahead with my complaint, I have to pop into the office on Monday to take them my reciept and the SEL I have. Lets hope they deal with it promptly

No need to bow! there's enough forelock tugging going on around in work for you I would imagine.

I hope it's only my experinece with Trading Standards and not the normal one, but I found them to be a bit of a joke a few years ago. Good luck, anyway.
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

The failure to capitalise on r&r as an early warning system by Tesco and eliminate pricing errors is akin to cutting your lawn with scissors instead of the mower to save on electricity.

In my experience Trading Standards will always persue a valid complaint on your behalf, if the vendor shows that they have done their best to comply fully with legislation once a matter has been drawn to their attention and made reasonable steps to redress the situation then that is usually enough for them and they will not prosecute on a whim, however if the vendor is unco-operative and continues to breach legislation they will go after them like a terrier after a rabbit.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but judging by the tone of this whole thread, you all talk as if you're engaging in criminal behaviour.

It must make you feel really brave as you lay awake at night wondering how you can boldly take on the might of a giant corporate monster such as Tesco and win!

Still, I suppose if they manage to close their loop-holes you could always harness that heart-thumping, jelly-knee'ed courageous bottle you've managed to aquire by becoming a shoplifters ...
