    Hi southend
glad you had a good holiday!
yeah I think a lot of the stress is feeling like I have to hold the world up on my own so to speak...it isnt a helpful way to think and actually not really true in terms of the help and support I could get if I just asked!! I think I need to take a bit of a step back too and know that my current situation (workwise) , however stressful , isnt permanent and is likely to look very different in one way or another in 6 months time, or even by xmas.... but it is hard to hang onto that sometimes...

I think because I have a lot of time on my hands to think about it and go over it (aka worry!) I am becoming more bogged down with the minutae of it all, whereas if I was working I would be busier and maybe just get into the swing of it rather than feeling it was up to me and only me to do it, OHs solution is "dont worry" which, while a good idea, I am not that good at doing on a practical level!

the biggest and only priority really is sorting out the job ... and I have a while and need to really think about that...as for the rest it doesnt really matter so much , when I am earning regulalry again I will set up a d/d every month to OP as otherwise I think I will end up getting way too obsessed and feeling like it is a burden rather than something which should eventually make life easier! the rest will take care of itself, but a few months of living frugally cant hurt the MSE efforts in the future I guess!.

I know, you will get there-just think what you have achieved so far. The question is, would you have started all this if you were at work? Regardless, chin up, be proud of your self and i hope that things get better for you.

Goals should always be a little bit stretching, otherwise they're too easily achievable and there's no real challenge, then!! (jmo, of course!) ;)

yep youre right- I never seem to get the balance with goal setting ;either too easy it doesnt mean anything , or so high its impossible (have been known to be a bit of a perfectionist!! ) ... this would stretch me but wouldnt be the end of the world to be a little bit off, then with any luck have almost enough to pay off at least one mortgage between us!

thanks for sharing , do you have a job now? or did you manage to get another one?
glad you found that it has led to building confidence and growth etc..

Hi TYO - not yet... I decided to take some time out and return to education. After getting accepted on a three year degree course which would have taken me in a completely different direction to the one I'd been traveling in for the last 20 years, it suddenly dawned on me that I quite liked what I did, but not the company for which I'd been doing it for - or indeed the Directors who owned it (I was very badly treated and they only avoided the Employment Tribunal by the narowest of margins!).

So I changed tack again and am now on a part time Masters course in an area related, but not exactly the same industry sector as previously.

This coming year, I need to start looking for a part time job, but feel that I am in a much better position to do this now that when I was first made redundant - not least because I have regained a lot of the confidence I lost.

I guess that what I was really trying to say is that adversity can sometimes have an upside you don't expect.

when we were away, a charity shop were giving away 25th anniversary tubes which can hold 25 *£1.00. I got 3 and donated 50p, i wish i had got more. Keep them in a holiday handbag (hate it, big, bulky etc). Since i got back I have so far saved £20.00 in coins, chuffed ( not told hubby). I have managed to have my gas reduced by £3.00 monthly, ntl (contract) dropped to £5.45 and credit expert was dropped to £3.00 ( contract) monthly last month. So i can put that into a savings acct until i get approx £250.00 towards OP my mortgage.

Corner shops love small change, handy.

Anyone got any better ideas for OP, ie is it best to go in to the bank with my £20.00 and ask them to take it off the capital, then ring woolwich ( same day), or saved about £250.00 then do it.

I hope i have put this on the right thread, i am exhausted and cant sleep as i am panicking about money etc now. As usual kids and other halfs play on it
