Well done on all the money stuff and bathroom
  • Ok so yesterday was a bit of disaster, got up, cleaned out the fridge, made list went shopping - felt dreadful tho headache came back with a vengance. Shopping was 74p overbudget so that was ok - with an organic free range chicken which I kinda bought by mistake.

Got home thanks to a really nice cab driver who helped with my shopping. Then I had lunch and basically went to bed! I think it is disrupted sleep I keep lying awake worrying about stupid stuff from should I e bay X or how am I going to work in this room when it is so messy has Mum taken her pills ok? are the guinea pigs ok? what am I doing with my life? why do I hate work so much?how can I leave? How can I fix it and it all goes round my head till about 2 in the morning and then I sleep for a bit and dream loads which means I wake up loads too.

So the plan to combat this is my Relaxation CD(!) the woman has a very patronising voice but I find most telling me what to do annoying so hey! No napping this afternoon

    List looks like this

    1. touch up paint in bathroom (some bits look suss)
    2. put shelves back
    3. start charity bag
    4. THROW out toiletries
    5. clean bathroom properly
    6. return all decluttered storage to bathroom
    7. Have a general tidy up of the bedroom, remove washing, hoover etc
    8. sort out the potted plants...........put them to rest I feel!
    9. I don't know after that

ok, will see you all later

  • Buffy this stuff going round and round in your head, I've suffered from such.
I have a memory stick with my journal on it, stuff that doesn't fit on here, that no-one would be interested in but needs to be set free ! I ramble away on it, look back a few months later and recall stuff that was bothering me, that's fizzled out/been dealt with/ I've got over.

I can't do everything all at once, I tried that and burnt out.

I think the fact you have the bathroom nearly complete you should congratulate yourself. Without any praise or appreciation from anyone else regarding acheivements with challenges it's easy to just think nothing of it.

No don't get your coat -thank you xx

Sorry - cross posted, was thinking about Tom Cruise - now why can't i think about him late at night?

I think my big problem is that I do want everything sorted, I am not exactly a perfectionist but I do understand the idea of having everything done and running smoorthly so that if things do go wrong then you can cope better. I have a couple of friends who are seriously organised and frankly get on my nerves but actually its envy cos once I was a bit like that and I loved it but now I feel I have gone too far down the road of clutter and mess again to fix it, I am always just papering over the cracks when in all honesty I need to gut my cupboards my paperwork my clothes, the e bay pile, my work, all of it and it needs to GO.

    right tea definitely cold now

    see you later xxxx

considering all the crap you are dealing with at work, i think you are doing just fine!

Well done on actually finishing the bathroom. That means that is one job where you WON'T look back in 6 months time, and think why didn't i get that finished at the time....

Whilst I know we are meant to be mse and not throw things away, maybe there is a point, which I think hypno reached, where the clutter and mess was SUCH a drain that, that you just have to get rid of it, even if you should sell it.If you just went right this is holding me back, I am just going to make the charity shop think all their christmases have come at once, and clear it all out, then you have a organised space now to keep clean and tidy.

Sometimes you may need to accept that you don't have the physical and emotional energy to do the most cost effective thing.
You have to do the thing that brings you the most peace so you can focus on important things, like being ready for the start of next term, doing your masters module etc etc.

Sorry if this is a bit rambly

I was about to type the same sort of thing Chev.

Sometimes just not having the "stuff" to deal with gives you the headspace to deal with the other stuff.

So forget ebay - shove it all in bin bags and get it to a charity shop.

Don't look at it as lost "money" but your donation to charity for the year/month.

As for the bedroom clutter - what sort of stuff are you talking about?

I've had a lot of medical people in and out of the bedroom examining DH over the past year so have needed to keep it tidy (for my own sanity) so I brought a big wicker hamper to sit on the chest of drawers to keep all the everyday toiletries in (moisturiser, hairbruses, deoderant etc.) - it just gets chucked in but looks tidier having none of it on show. I've also got rid of a laundry bin on the basis that every morning all the washing gets taken to the utility room instead of sitting in the bedroom overflowing. I've also got rid of the waste bin in there too....all rubbish comes down every morning and then I'm not thinking..."ohhh did I empty the bin" when a Dr goes up there.

If there's a particular hotspot in the room that's constantly cluttered then would it help to have a "hide it all" box/drawer that you sort out once a year rather than worrying on a daily basis.

If it's work stuff, could any of it go in storage in the spare room?
