Hi Jwil
Good to have you backOoh! Am sure you've mentioned before but is it a camper van that you have? I :smileyhea campervans! Well, like you say the van has saved you more than you've spent but i understand the frustration of having to spend money you weren't expecting to just now also. Woo! on the sales - you'll soon have the spending on new clothes covered at this rate
peaceandfreedom - fingers crossed you get this new work you are quoting for hon x
Oh and in taxing car news - i did mine for 6months - reason being - other than the obvious financial ones! - that mot, insurance and tax are all due at the same time so wanted to stagger that one out a bitCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
Back now, I am so shattered today! Not doing much at all.
We did have a nice weekend away, but it was tempered with van troubles again, so could have been better.
Hi Jwil, glad you had a good weekend, pity about the van. But as you say, you've now replaced so much hopefully it will keep working nicely for another while yet!
Hope you've had a nice day not doing much - it's good to have a not-doing-much day isn't? Although it always makes you feel guilty afterwards. I had a very lazy day yesterday but finally shifted my butt after dinner and did some more work in the garden, potting up plug plants and sorting out other plants (I love that sort of pottering about). I've done a lot of work in the garden this year and in another few weeks, it'll start to pay off. :T0 -

Thanks DDFW,
These things all take time, it'll be a week or two before I submit the quote and even longer before they decide if I get it.
I have just arranged to meet another potential client this week to discuss work with them, this seems like it will be much more immediate if it comes off, so cross all your fingers and toes for that one!
To add to my current upbeat mood, I have just lost 3lbs in the first 3 days of my new diet - I think I'll actually be able to stick with this one. And I'm terribly bunged up as well so things should look even better when things 'get moving'. (sorry, TMI)0 -
I have sold a few items on ebay and a book on amazon, so pleased with that and will sort out the figures soon.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
Thanks, Jwil, a quiet weekend but that's the way I like them, must be old age or something. Though we were out for a meal with friends on Friday night, that was fun.
Well done on the ebay and amazon sales. :T
I currently have 10 watchers on my (only) ebay item - they can't all be tyre-kickers can they? Hopefully one of them will buy (it's a BIN, decided that auctions for clothes bundles are too risky, you don't get enough money). Because it's a BIN, I reckon that a lot of the watchers are people wondering if it'll sell, but I'm hoping one or two are potential buyers.0 -

Yep, an old 1972 VW campervan  It's great when it works

That is another reason why I did mine for 12 months, my insurance, MOT etc is due in December so hence trying to break it all up."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Thanks peaceandfreedom. I like having lazy days, but yes it's hard when there's so much to be done.
I like those days where you just potter about and do lots of little jobs, like you were in the garden. Sounds good!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Ooh, good luck with the meetings, I've got everything crossed!
Well done on the weight loss, are you following any particular plan?
If the 'bunged up'-ness continues, hunt down the slimming world thread on here. There's a recipe for what is affectionately termed 'dyno-rod soup'. It's so named for a reason :rotfl:. It's actually really nice, but you need a HUGE pan to make it!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I'm obviously getting old, (33), I like nothing better than a quiet weekend just pottering around. I try and get any socialising done during the week so I can keep my weekends to myself. I'll love it once I'm debt free and so don't need to be worrying that I should be selling at a car boot, or listing on ebay or something.
Good luck with your ebay sale, fingers crossed someone finally buys it!
Glad you had a nice meal out on Friday, things like that are always a nice start to the weekend aren't they."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
I can't believe I forgot the most important piece of news!
While we were away I found roadkill (dropped change) of 10p and a £20 note! :j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T
DH had the cheek to laugh at me when I picked up the 10p in the middle of Newquay, and said 'at least it wasn't 1p'. I informed him I would have picked that up too :rotfl:
He was laughing on the other side of his face though, when I investigated a screwed up piece of paper by the side of the road and discovered it was a £20 note! :T Anyway, the 10p has gone into my pot, and the £20 was used towards the van battery."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Way-hay! Well done, Jwil, nice to have a bit of luck like that. And I pick up 1p pieces all the time, I never ignore a coin lying on the road.0
