DH has walked out of his job today. Oh F**k

Crikey! Did you know he was thinking of doing this? What does it mean for you? Try to keep a lid on those stress levels, jwil, hope you are OK.

    Thanks everyone, it's much appreciated.

It wasn't expected, but it wasn't unexpected either. He's been there for 6 years now, but the job in the last couple of years since they were taken over has just got worse and worse. My first reaction was 'at last!', and I'm still not bothered overly about the fact that he has quit.

However, DH has taken it pretty badly. He has had his confidence affected by it, and so is quite down. He suffers from depression anyway and this has knocked him right down, so it's a big cloud of gloom in our house at the moment which is not good.

My stress levels are through the roof and I'm feeling rough as houses again today.

Hugs, jwil. Just keep doing everything you can to try to reduce your levels of stress and see if you can persuade OH to take steps to make himself feel better. Have you had time to look at that online CBT course?

You must feel relieved that you have reorganized your finances recently, so that's one less thing to feel stressed about. Try to do stuff that helps you relax and chill out. For me, it's physical activity of some sort like going for a long hilly walk, or a few hours work in the garden. Do whatever helps you de-stress.

On a brighter note about quitting a job you hate - I did this about a year ago. I HATED the job I was doing, dreaded going in every day, didn't want to get up in the morning, hated Sunday evenings so much because I'd be working on the Monday, God, I hated that job.

So I quit and worked out my notice. I had no other job to go to and no money. Many people said I was mad, 'what are you going to do now, then?'. But one person said 'Good for you, you weren't happy and you did something about it'. She was right. I was so happy when I left, I felt I had my life back. Also, before I'd finished working my notice I had an offer of more work, the work I used to do, for vastly more money (still doing that now, though it's erratic income). I think that once you take the step to DO something about things, other helpful things fall into place.

Your OH has taken a bold step, one he's been thinking about for some time. He should be proud of himself and once he's had a few days to take stock, he can start making plans for a happier stress-free future.
  • Gosh jwil, that's a lot going on. Obviously it's going to cause stress, so you shouldn't beat yourself up over it.

Everybody else has put everything down so beautifully the only thing I'll add is that I think your OH is very brave, and as peaceandfreedom said will eventually be for the best.

Oh Jwil, try to keep your stress levels as down as possible, easier said than done I know.

He is very lucky to have someone who supports him and is supporting him through this. Your thinking of him and what this means for him.

when its taking over your head the stress, make yourself a cuppa and have 5 with a book. xx

Thanks everyone for your support, it really means a lot to me :A

I'll update properly soon, when I know what's going on.

On MSE news - I've sold 2 books on amazon, so that's another £10.10 to the pot. :j

I got a neutral feedback on ebay from someone who said they didn't realise the item was that small :mad:. !!!!!! - the size was clearly listed in the description and was listed on the front of the packet which you could see in the photo. Why don't people read??? Numpties. I just responded to it saying it was shown in the listing and photo and have not left feedback for the buyer. I've also blocked them so they cannot bid on anything else of mine.

That is why I don't leave feedback until the buyer does or I at least know they are happy. I'd be well annoyed if I had left glowing feedback on her page - I'd rather there was nothing there.

Hope everyone is well, I've been awol so will try and catch up with peeps soon xx

  • Oh good, you're OK. Haven't not "seen" you about for a few days I was worried.

Also I have dropped in to say thank you for the egg card tip - I applied on the weekend and they accepted me :T so will be shifting from my nasty expensive b@rclaycard (if the card turns up - it is a bit too good to be true!)

Some eBay-ers are annoying huh? I had to derail a NSD run today to pay for an item I bought for part of a friend's birthday present, but I wasn't about to become a late payer!

Thanks Karmachi, I'm ok, I'm sure we'll get there.

Well done on the egg card, that's fantastic news! :T:T Here's hoping it doesn't take too long to arrive.

Today I had feedback from someone which could easily have been a neutral, and I wouldn't have minded because I obviously missed something out (I'm selling stuff I know nothing about, so would take that on the chin), but they left me positive, which i thought was nice of them. It's just frustrating when it's through no fault of your own.

Another £17.96 of sales on ebay yesterday though, so pleased with that! :T
