My delayed ebay parcel to Australia has turned up today, phew! That's a big relief.

Hi jwil. Well I don't blame you for taking out the loan. You've done your research and worked out your snowball, and as long as you don't spend on the CC again (cut it up and cancel it!) it sounds like you've made a very sensible decision. People always say not to get a consolidation loan on here, but I think in some circumstances its the right thing to do. It also means that you'll see your other CCs go down a lot faster which will give you a boost to keep going strong.

Looking forward to seeing your updated signature and getting big lumps knocked off next year!

Right, now it's confession time :o

I've taken out a consolidation loan :o:o. Now I thought about this long and hard because last time I consolidated, I doubled my debt.

    Snippety snip snip ....

When I did a comparison with the new situation if I took the loan, and carrying on as I am now, taking out the loan knocked 2 years off my DFD. :j Even more shocking, it would save me £18,029 in interest payments:eek::eek:. So that was the deciding factor for me.

Well done for taking the plunge and doing what's right for you. The figures seem to work out well - as Copperjar says, you just need to be sure you won't spend again on the credit cards. And you don't need to confess - we ain't here to judge, only to cheer you on, girl. :T

    Yay
  • Well, I got a reasonable amount done today. I have washed and ironed over 100 items of clothing and sorted them out into age ranges. More in the tumble-dryer as I speak. I will get the listings prepared but I think I'll wait until Sunday or Monday to actually list them, as I don't think Friday is a great night for ending auctions and anyway, I'm out tomorrow night and Saturday night.

As an aside, if anyone has to replace their iron, do go for one of those steam generator ones. They've come down a lot in price and they are the dogs b****x. My honest opinion is that they cut ironing time by 75%.
  • Good for you jwil. I bet you feel much more in control of your finances already. You've worked it all out and worked out what's best for you that's great. :)

You're doing so well with all your ebay and amazon sales. Good work

    Thanks everyone!

The credit card is already closed, I haven't been able to use it for a couple of years now, so there's no worry there. I sneakily peeked at my account this morning, and the cheque has cleared, so can't wait now to get on and get them paid! I couldn't do anything this morning as I was monitoring again so left home at 5.40am.

I do think it is the right thing, and hopefully we'll see a nice downhill gradient on my debts in 2011.

Well done! I've got a few bits going out at tea time tonight, but I don't think Friday is great either. Only one thing is selling at the moment, but that's not surprising as it's all relists anyway.

I find Monday is pretty good for ending things.

Ironing? What's that then? :rotfl::rotfl: I'm such a lazy sod, I hardly ever iron anything. :o But I will take your recommendation on board should I become a domestic goddess anytime in the future :D

Thanks La Escocesa, have you got your new diary up and running yet? I've been keeping an eye out but may have missed it!

I've redeemed £5 from bingoport today, so pleased with that. I'm selling 3 things now on ebay :p
