  • Would you please tell me when the free listing is on again, or is thre any web site that I can look ? Many thanks for that before hand .

If you are registered with ebay you will get an email during the week before a free-listing weekend, telling you it's going to happen.

    Glad London went well. :)

Just wanted to pop in to say hi :)

I'm reading your diary from the beginning and just got to the 1001 books list. Bit shocked that I've only read 11 of them! And now I've just bought your recommended Diary of a Nobody seeing as I'm not on a NSD! One of my favourite books is Diary of a Madman, not on the list though!

Hi copperjar! Thanks for popping in. When I first looked at the list, I think I'd read 38. It's been a really good challenge for me reading the books off there, and I'm not too far from the end now!

I do love Diary of a Nobody, it's free on amazon for the kindle, so I've downloaded it ready to go on there at Christmas.

I've not read Diary of a Madman, I might check it out though. Thanks for the recommendation!
    Wowee!! Well done!

Well, I had a nice weekend but when it comes to listing on ebay, it was what the kids would call an 'EPIC FAIL'. :p

I did finally get around to sorting out a lot of DD's clothes. There are well over 100 items of clothing so far (not to mention the 8 supermarket bag-fulls that are going to the charity shop), all of which have to be washed, dried, ironed, photographed and described! I will be bundling them together in large-ish bundles (about 30 pieces) but I do find that the bundles sell for much better prices if they are presented well, with items grouped in 3s or 4s and described properly. A lot of work, and I will get it done this week.

As ebayqueen has pointed out, the free listing weekend can have its downsides - so I'm not that bothered about missing that.

Yesterday, I overdid it having been so unwell the day before and by evening time I'd lost my mojo completely. Didn't even stay up for Match of the Day (unheard of!).

Today I've had a good day. Went Asda to stock up on Heinz baked beans (£1.08 for 4) and Quality Street (£4 a tin). Then I got a plastic food storage box to use as DS's lunchbox. First time EVER I went into Dunelm and bought just one thing without any impulse buys. Then a supermarket shop at Sainsburys. Spent £80 but that is two-week's worth (family of 5) and included lots of bulk buys because there were cheap deals. So feeling happy with all that.

Made a slow-cooked beef casserole for dinner. Also made some yummy spiced fruit compote (will do me for breakfast most days this week), have stewed and frozen more freebie cooking apples, have made some very nice apple muffins (with some raisins soaked in brandy to give them a bit of a kick) and also made some banana bread to use up some black bananas.

Now, it's only 33 minutes to Downton Abbey. I shall watch it while embarking on a veritable orgy of ironing.

So not an entirely wasted weekend. :D

    Enjoy your evening folks.

Well done on all the sorting - that is a lot of clothes that will be gone when they sell!

That's a good buy with the baked beans, I bought 8 cans for £3 this week
Well, the person 'watching' has bought the item since, goody-gumdrops for that. Also sold another amazon item so that's 4 parcels to send off tomorrow.

Glad they bought the item, well done on all the sales!

Errr, London was satisfactory except me spending £100 more then what I budgeted:mad: I cannot say that it is not my fault, because I did not read the small print- but NSLB totally enjoyed it, he is so beautiful , his pictures are brilliant- our pictures, ehem well he shines really, and me Gosh I need to loose more weight:D

When I had written to you last time, it was saturday at 8.30 pm- well I cleaned the house, cooked a meal , iron the cloths that we were taking to London, washed myself and even slept a bit God I was rushing on Sunday. We left at 11 am and came back home at 10 pm - so had no time to list anything which is really shame.

Would you please tell me when the free listing is on again, or is thre any web site that I can look ? Many thanks for that before hand .

Ah and big WELL DONE to you for selling all those items on Ebay :j:p

Wow, you were really busy on Saturday night, I'm good for nothing at that time of night!

Glad you had a good time though, and that the photos are good!

As peaceandfreedom says, they don't tend to announce it until a couple of days before. I think it's usually Wednesday or Thursday. They've had quite a few recently so there might be another one soon. I'll shout though if I notice!

Well I'm still feeling rough today, was up a lot last night coughing. I wish this would clear up now, it's just annoying me.

I got up this morning to do my parcels and bloody paypal postage was not working  which I discovered after I'd messaged everyone who paid to say their parcel will be posted today. I'm going to try and leave a bit earlier today which will mean I have time to print the postage and get to the sorting office before it closes, so they will still be posted today.

This means I haven't figured out my totals yet.

    Hope everyone is well!

Oh jwil, I hope your illness clears up soon - it is so exhausting and depressing to feel unwell all the time. Sending lots of get-better-soon vibes your way (and they don't have to travel far, I know we are in the same neck of the woods) :).

I've never used paypal postage - I just check the address to make sure it matches the ebay one. I don't have an accurate enough scales to chance it really and I don't have that much to send.
  • Last night I put up an item on ebay for my son and it sold within 5 minutes. I also put up an item on amazon and it has now sold this morning. Both were quite pricey, so that's a total of £106 altogether - he will be a very happy boy.

One item is parcelled up and ready to be collected and couriered up to Scotland, I'll post the other tomorrow.

I am adding the profits from these sales to my monthly totals - even though it is not strictly my money, it is household money and I'm a bit shameless like that when I have a target to meet. :D

Thanks Unsavy. You just click on 'print postage label' and it talks you through it. You get to choose which option you use, (first class, standard parcels, airmail, etc), put the weight in, it tells you how much it costs and you print the label. It just takes it straight out of your paypal account. It automatically prints proof of postage too so you can get that stamped. You then either drop the parcels off at the post office or put them in a letter box. If you want recorded delivery you need to go to a post office to get the label and tracking number (I don't bother with recorded at all, if it's over £41 I would use special, and take it in to the post office anyway).

It's very easy and very convenient! The only problem is you can't send things 2nd class - you can only do 1st class. I often use Royal mail online postage instead which is just as easy.

Once you've printed your postage you have to post it by the end of the next working day otherwise it will no longer be valid.

Thanks peaceandfreedom, I think they've arrived  I'm feeling a bit better today.

I just use some cheap kitchen scales. Because RM charge for weights in batches - i.e. up to 100g, up to 250g etc, you are unlikely to go wrong unless you are very close to the boundary, in which case I overestimate rather than risk it. You have to be careful as well about large letters and packets, but I just check the sizes with a ruler. Because I do it a lot, I'm pretty good at estimating things now, and touch wood, I've never been out yet!
