I'd love to be my own boss, but I just don't know what I would do. I've been racking my brains today for ideas that we could do ourselves, but short of opening our own ebay shop I'm not sure what we could do. Even if we were to do that I'm not sure there would be enough money in it to make it worthwhile. (Also I haven't the faintest idea about accounting and tax etc
).
The accounting and tax thing isn't a problem really - I use an accountant to work out my tax and the accounting is very straightforward. I work in IT which is ideal for working from home. I've spent a lot of time lately trying to work out different ways of running a proper business though - like you, I find it hard to come up with ideas.
Some day I'll come up with one though.0 -
I bought the new Stephen King book today. :jIt is the only author I make an effort to get as soon as it comes out (apart from when the Harry Potter books were being released). It was actually out yesterday, but I couldn't get it anywhere.
Now for the moneysaving mantras....
Did I want it? YES
Can I afford it? errr... probably technically not
Do I NEED it?.......................[STRIKE]NO[/STRIKE] :DYes:D of course!:p
Hee hee. :rotfl:
That was me today in M&S armed with £15 of vouchers that were (strictly speaking) meant to buy Christmas presents. Instead I bought myself a pair of nice soft leather gloves. I'm gonna venture a YES to the three MSE questions, to hell with it.0 -

Well we can't be money saving for everything! We should be but there are just occassions when a girl has just got to have something! If the worst you get is gloves and books that's pretty good going. I fell off the 3 mantras wagon a couple of weeks ago on a lovely scarf, but I have worn it lots since so don't feel so bad.:pTotal debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -

One item is parcelled up and ready to be collected and couriered up to Scotland, I'll post the other tomorrow.
I am adding the profits from these sales to my monthly totals - even though it is not strictly my money, it is household money and I'm a bit shameless like that when I have a target to meet.
How on earth did I miss this post too? Sorry peaceandfreedom! That is a great result for a sale, well done!
I do the same with my targets too - anything and everything gets added"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Yes, but peaceandfreedom and yourself are nicely kitted out for winter. I'm entertained as long as I don't leave the house "Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
