Oh I didn't realized you were so ill- I give you a secret- when I was ill couple of weeks ago, I mean when I was really ill and doctor had to come home- well it means something as they rarely do home visit -, one of my good friend decided to kill me opps sorry make me better... Her remedy was crushed garlic mixed with honey.
Oh my God! She pushed it to my mouth, I couldn't even say no... She was quick, I was ill... After swallow it, I thought I was dying… My blood pressure must have gone to minus something. I went to sleep straight away, when recovered from coma, I mean from my deep sleep I was no longer coughing.
Well, try it , you have nothing to lose except your test buds for few days :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I've heard a lot about the miraculous powers of garlic. As a matter of interest, how much garlic - and did you swallow it just with the honey, or was it mixed with something to wash it down?
I'm all for home remedies, especially if they send you to sleep for hours. My favourite for a heavy cold is a nice hot whiskey, to be drunk either in bed, or by a crackling log fire.0 -
Thanks WTBF - I'm on the mend now, but I reckon I might try that next time. Like peaceandfreedom I think there is a lot in the natural home remedies. I do think honey and lemon works well, but I never got round to using any this time."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I've finally worked out my totals for the other day - £53.95 :j So far I've got another £13-odd worth of sales at the moment, so that's all looking good too.
Still a long way off my target though!
I've not been very motivated the last few days as DH has been having a really tough time at work. His employers are being completely unreasonable and it is stressing him out a lot. He's got a disciplinary on Friday for something which is NOT his fault, and he's worried he will get the sack because they are not listening to him. He's come to the decision that he wants to step down and take a lower paid role which will relieve him of the responsibilities, and I fully support him on this. I'm just hoping they allow it. It will give him a lot more peace of mind. The problem is if they don't allow it, and/or he gets sacked, there's not a lot around to do here. The job he's in has many faults, but there are benefits to it as well - mainly the hours. It would be a shame if he lost out on that, but I just want him to be more relaxed rather than worrying about work all the time."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Tough times. Hopefully on Friday at the hearing, your DH will be able to put forward his side of things and they will listen. People spend so much time at work, it's horrible if it's stressful and you've got unreasonable employers.
I work from home and I'm my own boss. This has its downsides (like me being a lazy-a**e sometimes) but it does do away with all the workplace politics and aggro.
You're being lovely and supportive, I'm sure your DH appreciates that.:)0 -

Thanks peaceandfreedom, I'm really hoping for a good result, he's been so stressed about it, and he's naturally a worrier, so can't let go of things like I can.
I'd love to be my own boss, but I just don't know what I would do. I've been racking my brains today for ideas that we could do ourselves, but short of opening our own ebay shop I'm not sure what we could do. Even if we were to do that I'm not sure there would be enough money in it to make it worthwhile. (Also I haven't the faintest idea about accounting and tax etc).

Thanks Tattycath, he's a bit happier this evening as he's got the union fighting his corner. They've vindicated much that he has been saying so there is hope yet.
Well done on the sales, that's great! I'm working from home tomorrow so hopefully will be a bit more motivated than last week and get some items on before I start."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I bought the new Stephen King book today. :jIt is the only author I make an effort to get as soon as it comes out (apart from when the Harry Potter books were being released). It was actually out yesterday, but I couldn't get it anywhere.
Now for the moneysaving mantras....
Did I want it? YES
Can I afford it? errr... probably technically not
Do I NEED it?.......................[STRIKE]NO[/STRIKE] :DYes:D of course!:p"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
peaceandfreedom wrote: »Last night I put up an item on ebay for my son and it sold within 5 minutes. I also put up an item on amazon and it has now sold this morning. Both were quite pricey, so that's a total of £106 altogether - he will be a very happy boy.
One item is parcelled up and ready to be collected and couriered up to Scotland, I'll post the other tomorrow.
I am adding the profits from these sales to my monthly totals - even though it is not strictly my money, it is household money and I'm a bit shameless like that when I have a target to meet.
Sorry peaceandfreedom- missed answering this post til just now.
Well done on your sales :T:T that's brilliant hun!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043
