Hey everyone, just popping in quickly from the (not so) frozen north. Hope everyone is well! Catch up soon :)

    Hi Jwil and everyone.

Many humble apologies for just disappearing for ages and ages. I've been very very busy and I am having real trouble coping with everything. I just drifted away from MSE but having been thinking about you all on and off.

Jwil, your life sounds as hectic as ever but as always you are coping admirably. :T

I have loads of work on at the moment. Being self-employed, this is a good thing but it does mean that I am finding it very hard to:
    1) devote enough time to all my customers
    2) keep the house in order
    3) do stuff in the garden
    4) sell stuff on ebay
    5) renovate items of furniture
    6) do something with the hideous kitchen
    7) decorate several rooms in the house that so so badly need it

Actually, if I'm really honest, the only things I'm doing at the moment are 1) not very well and 2) hardly at all. :o

Still, at least the money's coming in at the moment. I am embarrassed at how little debt I've paid off this year but to be honest I'm also quite happy that I haven't increased the debt because it's been a very tough year.

The car has just cost me an arm and a leg (over 700 quid ) and my oldest has just started at uni and I'm trying to support her. The house is a tip and physically I'm in bad shape. Every time I turn my back there seems to be a new expense that pops into my life. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be free of this constant wearying concern about money - but hey, that's not the attitude. :naughty:

I'll try to pop in more often and keep up with you Jwil and DDFW, retiredandskint and ebayqueen and everyone else - I've missed you all. :kisses:

Hey peaceandfreedom, good to see you back, you've been missed :j

Good news that you have lots of work, but a shame things are so hectic. It is very wearing, but it will get better. Apart from number 1 where 'customers' can be replaced with 'work', then my list is suspiciously like yours.

Do pop in again when you've got a sec, and hope things calm down a bit for you soon.

Howdy everyone, we are back now. It's good to be home, and we have another week to get on with some sorting and listing and moneysaving! It's seriously needed now. I don't know how I'm going to cover everything, and I have MOT, service, insurance coming up. I need a new tyre, and I really need to get my starter motor fixed. Oh well, time to get on with things. My MSE sponsored course officially started yesterday, so I need to get on with that as well this week.

We had a lovely break away, and our accommodation was superb. We got upgraded so we had a truly bargainous experience!

It was fairly sobering though as on Friday we considered driving straight back, rather than stopping overnight. Gladly we didn't as we would have reached J25 right about the time the horrendous accident happened. Whilst we had heard on Friday night that there was an accident, we were totally unaware of how serious it was until we turned on the news yesterday morning and then of course there is the worry that friends/family may have been involved. My thoughts are with anyone who was affected by this, the whole area is in a state of shock.

Hey, thanks for missing me! :)

Yes, our lists are very similar aren't they? You are ahead of me though in that you are a fair bit younger, so you'll be debt-free at a much younger age than me. :D

    How's your OH doing?

It was the talk of the area here too, even though we are more junction 21/22 people ourselves. I guess you would have been caught in the tailbacks rather than the accident as the accident was on the northbound carriageway?

Really, it's the most horrendous thing. I don't think I know anyone involved and I hope it's the same for you, Jwil. So sad for all those lost and ruined lives. :(

Glad you had a good break, you deserve it.

I feel your pain about the car - although my car has been exceptionally well-behaved, it has just cost me a fortune in servicing plus a few other bits. It's the labour that's the killer with these things. Still at least she's all set up for the winter now. New tyres in a couple of thousand miles though.

Hope you enjoy the MSE-sponsored course - do let us know how you get on. Is it with the OU or did I imagine that bit?

I'm hoping I don't have to wait too long to be debt free, it's still seeming a very long way away at the moment.

My DH is much better now, thanks for asking. His last counsellor has worked miracles with helping him getting his head straight.

Yes, we would have been stuck in the tailbacks - I understand they didn't clear until 2.30 am so that would have been a nightmare - not to mention how distressing it must have been for everyone who was witnessing what was happening.

I've got to spend £60 on a new tyre tomorrow, as it needs to be done and I didn't see the point in waiting for it to fail MOT on a tyre. My car's pretty reliable too as a rule, so fingers crossed there's nothing too serious.

Yes, the course is with the OU so it should be good. I've never done a bad course with them before.
