Yesterday I wanted to tackle some boxes in the extension to get it cleared. I brought out two boxes for DH to check thinking they were ready to go. He had a flick through them, took a few bits out and then put them back.

That is exactly why it is taking so long to clear this house. It's not my bloody stuff, but he won't get on with it!

    It's so frustrating sometimes!

    Rant over :D

You are not alone. Although I am responsible for a lot of clutter, a huge amount is also DH's and he never EVER gets around to clearing away any of it.

He has payslips and bank statements going back to the 80s, I kid you not!

For a long time now I've been meaning to buy an incinerator to burn all this ridiculous hoard of paperwork - I think I'll do that this very weekend. :)
  • It's free listing on ebay this weekend, by the way, in case anyone doesn't know.

Might this be the weekend I actually ebay more stuff?:p

I do have a lot of clutter too, but most of mine has a home, so it's out of the way. It's mostly books too, so does decrease as I read them. His on the other hand is in piles all around the house - some because it is being sorted, others because it doesn't have any where to go.

The ones that annoy me most though are the stuff we've inherited - and stuff he's promised to sell for a relative. I don't mind 'our' clutter, but it's the fact it's other people's stuff that bugs me!

He also has paperwork back to from when he first started working...

Hurrah! I'll be relisting everything, and adding more too hopefully. I've put on a couple of items today using scheduled listings - they are scheduled for Tuesday, but I'll go in over the weekend and start them immediately. This supposedly means you avoid the scheduling fee, and get the free listing. I thought I'd test it as if it works, it's a handy tool to have and means you don't have to wait until free listing to do the listings themselves.

I've listed some books on ebay which if they sell, they would net me £280 :j. The only problem is they are highly specialised, and so I think I'd be very lucky if I sold them. I can hope though!

Well I've just had a load of stuff finish on ebay and have made £23. Not bad for low value stuff which has all been on there umpteen times!

Not bad, it all adds up and that's more clutter out of the house.

It certainly is, and I've got more going out tomorrow, so that's good too!

  • Well, here's some news (and it's not good) - DH got made redundant yesterday.

Kind of knew it was coming but I still felt a bit weepy last night. Spent hours on my laptop working out figures for the coming year or so and I think we can manage for at least 8 months or so, based on some emergency savings and his paltry redundo. Longer if I divert some of my earnings away from debts and towards living costs. We'll have to see how it goes.

It's so dispiriting because I am really busy at the moment and was just making headway with things.

What's also annoying is that DH makes no attempt to be frugal, spends far too much money on drink and is one lazy SOAB around the house. I doubt that any of this will improve once he stops work so it is imperative he finds work ASAP.

On the plus side, from all my workings-out I can see that I have no tax liability for the next two years (because I've earned so little ) and I feel reasonably positive about my own work for the coming months.

There's so much going on in my head at the moment, I've got a headache already. Sorry for droning on about this in your diary, Jwil, I should really start my own but I know I am among friends here. :o

    Sorry to hear your news PaF. Redundancy is not good at any time and especially in these times. I hope your OH finds something soon. {{hugs}}

Oh, sorry to hear that peaceandfreedom (((hugs))), that's a shame. I hope your DH finds something soon.

It's good that you've got lots of work at the moment, that should help.

I hope you can get your DH to be a bit more frugal too, (mine is the same so I know how hard it is).

Never apologise for posting in here, to my mind it's a place for anyone to come and post, I don't mind at all!
