Hi all
Potatoes?? Just potatoes?? Seriously? Great for low cost, but not even anything with them? Bacon sandwiches here
Haha jwil - i just love potatoes :j:j:j in fact the meal i did yesterday is extremely basic but it is one of my most favourite meals in the whole worldPrice didn't come into it - the cheapness of my meal was just a happy coincidence :T:T:T
Been pootling about a bit this morning.
So far I have -- taken the dog out for a walk with DH, (the dog came home, collapsed in a heap in the middle room, then pulled a pair of my trousers off a chair they were hanging on, and wrapped himself in them :rotfl:)
- Posted two ebay parcels and an amazon parcel
- Checked out the veg boxes at the bottom of the fridge, threw away a manky bit of cucumber, and have slow roasted a load of tomatoes which are going past their best - so I will have some of these for lunch I think, probably with some feta or something.
- Decluttered the telephone table - found 3 spare phones (!) so two have gone out for boot sale, and the third one has been kept in case of a power cut and our cordless ones won't work.
- Washed a load of dishes
- Hung up some washing
- Boxed up some stuff that was loose for a boot sale
- Removed the dog towels which were dumped in the hallway and found a new home for them in the porch.
- Checked some old lottery tickets and hadn't won on any of them
- Pulled out some old bank cards which need to be chopped up and disposed of.
- DH has done a load of shredding which needed to be done, and got rid of some of his stuff from the front room :j
Wow - you have been busy bet it feels good though - am just about to start on phase 2 of the decluttering and you have spurred me on to do it :Tpeaceandfreedom wrote: »You are having a busy day, Jwil. :T
I have loads to do but have not managed to get too motivated so far.
OK, I am absolutely going to do something now, see y'all later.

I've used T-m**ile dongle for about 2 years now. My old one was brilliant but through constant use some of the connecting pins got bent. As the coverage was reasonably good, and I do need Internet access I tried one or two other networks but their range didn't cover my area so had to use T .... again. I've complained constantly but, of course, when I go to the shop it works perfectly
Good luck with your 100 items jwil and well done on the book sale. My OH has magazines in old suitcases under the spare bedsI don't do clutter so have very few items taking up space. I've been busy on ebay and have 5 items listed. Three have got offers and several watchers and of the other two, one has a few watchers and the last item was only put on as 'you never know'.
:T:T on your decluttering DDFW. A person after my own heart.
Hi retired and skint - good you got access to the internet- why does that always happen with things - they are clearly broken until the fixing person is there ? Good luck with those e-bay sales x

But how did you eat them? I'm not the biggest potato fan, so that's probably why - but did you do something with them? I could just about manage a plate of mash and gravy or something I reckon

It does feel good, and I don't feel like I've been stupidly busy either, it was all done at a fairly relaxed pace, and I had plenty of time to sit and read and watch a DVD too."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hope you managed to achieve something peaceandfreedom, or at least had a good evening!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
We've been to one boot sale this morning and are about to head out to another.
It wasn't very big, but I did buy two books about moving to Canada. I would soooo love to do that one day. I thought they'd be an interesting read anyway.
I've just sold another book on amazon, so £3.57 to add :T and at the moment, I've got one item selling today on ebay.
I need to do quite a bit if I'm going to make the 100 items this weekend, but I do feel like I've achieved stuff anyway."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Morning everyone
potatoes jwil - i baked them and they were delicious
Ooh i love days like that jwil - where you achieve loads but don't *actually* feel like you've been working hard all day either :T Good that you had the relaxing time with the book and the dvd. Yes, Enduring Love - i did overall enjoy the book and do like McEwans writing.
Ooh - canada - i'd love to move to either Canada, Australia or AmericaJust got to have the profession that will allow me to do that
Well done on the sales :T and good luck on the continued declutterCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
Thanks DDFW.
Haven't achieved huge amounts today - I have listed 5 items for DH on ebay though. Added some to the decluttering list, but not sure if I'll make my target. It all counts though! DH has a few items selling today so they will count as well."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Spent all of last night packing and wrapping parcels from ebay sales. Most of which were DH's. In the end I was rather tired and grumpy.
I couldn't face lugging them all to the car this morning as it was parked down the road, so left them at home with the intention of rushing to the sorting office this evening and hopefully persuading DH to come and help. He's just called to say he's dropped them all off :T. There were quite a few items sold so that's good. Only one was mine, but the rest was all stuff out of the house, including one huge parcel which has resulted in getting rid of a huge empty box which we were storing for just such an occasion :j
I haven't totted up my decluttering list for the weekend, and don't think I made the 100 items, but I may not have been too far away."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
I've been spending some time thinking about what I want and where I want to be with all of this financial stuff.
- I'd like to be protected to a certain extent from the global financial situation and rockiness - so for this I need to be debt free and mortgage free - or at least have a mortgage figure that we could get on one salary only - so preferably I would guess at £60k or less.
- I'd also like to have 12 months salary in savings that would cushion us and cover emergencies.
- I'd like to get the house done up
- I'd like to do some travelling.
- I'd like for us both to work part time if that's what we choose, or do a job because we love it, not because it pays the mortgage.

Hi jwil and everyone
jwil i love this post :j its a good reminder for so many of us :T I definitely agree with the above - we have so many shared goalsPart of my big push to reduce the mortgage after the debt is that i don't want to be stuck in a job (like i am now) just to pay the mortgage
I do think its hard maintaining the momentum with repayments / overpayments - partly because by now we've all done the big things that make such a big difference to save money and then its onto the smaller stuff which is as equally hard work for less of a return  I do think it helps to revisit why we are doing all that we are to get things repaid
Well done on getting all those items out of the house even if they are mostly your hubbys - at least its all stuff gone :T and well done on your OH taking things to the post office too xCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000
