    Hi jwil and everyone :D

jwil i love this post :j its a good reminder for so many of us :T I definitely agree with the above - we have so many shared goals :) Part of my big push to reduce the mortgage after the debt is that i don't want to be stuck in a job (like i am now) just to pay the mortgage :naughty:

I do think its hard maintaining the momentum with repayments / overpayments - partly because by now we've all done the big things that make such a big difference to save money and then its onto the smaller stuff which is as equally hard work for less of a return  I do think it helps to revisit why we are doing all that we are to get things repaid ;)

Well done on getting all those items out of the house even if they are mostly your hubbys - at least its all stuff gone :T and well done on your OH taking things to the post office too x

Thanks DDFW. It is hard keeping going, and I know that some months I will just have to take a month off from overpayments and doing all of the moneyraising stuff, but I'm going to try and stay focussed as much as possible.

It's good when DH's stuff leaves the house, as he's got so much more than I have :D

  • Hi everyone :)

jwil - well done on those sales - think i'll send you a PM over the course of this week if thats ok? its am*zon related ;)

its a slow slow month on the money front for me this month - i've got nothing extra due in - not had any MS's and no sales on e-b*y either

I want to do a carboot soon - won't raise much as i'm doing it with someone else and they've got most of the things - i've possibly got £20 worth of things but it will help and clutter will be gone - it has just been too wet or windy to do this lately x

I've been spending some time thinking about what I want and where I want to be with all of this financial stuff.
    • I'd like to be protected to a certain extent from the global financial situation and rockiness - so for this I need to be debt free and mortgage free - or at least have a mortgage figure that we could get on one salary only - so preferably I would guess at £60k or less.
    • I'd also like to have 12 months salary in savings that would cushion us and cover emergencies.
    • I'd like to get the house done up
    • I'd like to do some travelling.
    • I'd like for us both to work part time if that's what we choose, or do a job because we love it, not because it pays the mortgage.
I thought I'd post that here to remind me to keep going. It is absolutely exhausting and sometimes I need a reminder as to what the benefits will be if I continue to work at it.

Hi jwil - I have just been reading around your diary and just wanted to say I love this post...it is hard to keep the motivation going and you reminded me that we need to keep revisiting the reasons why we're doing this in the first place, in order to keep us going on our journeys.

Well done on all your hard work so far!

  • Morning Jwil

Been awful busy with family this last week and spending more than I normally do. I don't enjoy spending at all but these things were needed. So next month will be very basic hopefully. Lots of bills going out this month yearly insurance so at least all will be sorted.

Well done on your de cluttering and ebay, amazonia etc.

    take care

Hi Want_to_be_free, good to see you again! :)

You're doing well yourself, and well done on the boot sale - that is a fantastic result to be able to go to Brighton on the proceeds. :j

I hope you have a fantastic time, I love Brighton, but haven't been for a few years now.

    Do pop in again!

Hi DDFW, no probs, PM whenever you want.

It's frustrating when sales are slow, and the lack of MS as well. Hope you manage to get some soon.

I don't generally make huge amounts at car boots as most of it is DH's or stuff we inherited, but it all counts and it all means clutter gone. The weather has been rubbish recently and hopefully it will be better soon, we need to do one as well.

    Hope you're feeling better today.

Hi rainbowneeks, thanks for popping in, do hang around if you wish! :)

That post is going to be important to me I think, and I will have to revisit it, because it is a slog, and I need to keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it in the end.

You've done really well so far, and I LOVE the idea of a Vegas fund! I would love to go back there one day, and DH and I always wanted our honeymoon to be a road trip around California/Nevada areas, but we haven't had it yet :o

I'd also like to go back to New York. Every time I hear that Alicia Keys song I get yearnings for it. I think that is what I am going to aim for first because we could do a short break there for a smaller amount of money. It's not my priority as I need to get my finances better first, but that is my first dream.

Hi ebayqueen, hope all is well with you :)

I hope everything settles down for you somewhat now and you can have a quieter month.

    You take care as well!
