Hi Jwil
Never worry about the counsellor. She is not important in your life, don't stress yourself about the house. She is there to do a job and thats it. Hope that didn't sound too harsh. I worry about the state of mine if someone lands unexpectedly. I still remember the old american show Rhoda when she shared with her sister. The doorbell rang and it was their mother. I never seen 2 people move so quick. They had the mess tucked away by the time she arrived at their apartment. Impressive!!!
I hope the counselling will do some good for your hubby. I have had similar and in the long run it really helps. He might find all the talking of his problems difficult to cope with for a few days but it will pan out.
Well done on the ebay. Nice amount. Keep going. I sold 4 items over the weekend and netted about £15 so not bad for not really trying. I usually take a break from it over the school holidays as I try and earn extra over the year to cover school lunches etc. So this wee amount is mine for a change. Need an eye test and this will help towards that. Heading away for a break next week and will book one for when I come home.
Just wanted to ask you do have a large freezer or small. I used to have a giant one and found that it ate electric so got rid of it and bought a small energy efficent one. I am seriously considering buying another one next month as I will be able to store more whoopsies etc as there are 5 of us. So unsure should I buy a large one instead of another wee one. Decisions. Need to start listing more junk/treasures to cover that one!
Take care
God bless
E
Thanks ebayqueen, I know I shouldn't stress about the house, but it really is a mess. DH did clear away quite a bit so it wasn't as bad in the end.
The counsellor was very nice, and DH seemed to get on with her better than the previous one he tried so fingers crossed all will be well.
That Rhoda thing sounds like me :rotfl: Rushing around trying to cram things in hidden crevices to make the main areas look tidy.
Well done on your ebay sales, that's not bad for not trying! I don't think sales go so well over the summer, so it's nice to have a break from it. I hope you enjoy your little break, are you going anywhere nice?
We've got a fridge freezer and a small under counter freezer which we inherited. Even those two can be too little for us sometimes :rotfl: I'd like a chest freezer, but I think I'd get stuff buried at the bottom which would never be used, so I think I'm better off as I am. I wouldn't say no to a bit of extra space though. I imagine it's hard when there are 5 of you!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". The dog appears to have figured out the dog flap :j How do I know? There are muddy paw prints all over our bed which were not there when I went to work this morning :rotfl:
The cat is definitely not guilty as she has been at the vets all day. That bill has gone on the CC unfortunately, but the good news is that it was *only* £160 when I had been quoted £250
The vets kindly told me that my cat is grumpy and was turning her nose up at all the food they offered her :rotfl:Tell me something new. She has scoffed her meal when she got home though and is now expecting seconds."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi jwil - so glad the counselling went well for your hubby - lol at your little dog leaving a trail of muddy paw prints :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: and aww bless your cat for hoping for seconds
- i guess its only like when we go to hospital (i never ever want to eat any of the food in there no matter what it is) so maybe indulging her won't be a bad thing - a nice bit of comfort eating after a not-so-nice day at the vets?
e-bayqueen i can't offer any freezer advice - we just have 1 between us and its always full (there's only 2 of us) i love getting all the reduced things (only if i'll eat them and its a good reduction ) and if something can be frozen rather than binned then thats what i do too

I did give her her favourite food when she came home, then some of the stuff the vet gave me later on. She shovelled both down at warp speed :rotfl:"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Right. The last few months have had some bigger expenses, so I've been borrowing money from here, there and everywhere to make ends meet. I'm fed up with this now, so want to try and raise £1000 to get back on track. That is my challenge for the rest of this month. I'm going to see how far I can get.
I had a surprisingly good set of sales on ebay last night, (£107! :T) but after postage, fees, and giving some money to DH, I am left with £58.
So there is my first £58/£1000 = £942 to go.
I've sold another book on amazon (£4.34) so that can go towards it too, as can the two books I sold the other day (£8.68) as the money has not hit my account yet.
so - £4.34 + £8.68 = £13.02
£71/£1000 = £929 to go.
I have relisted everything that didn't sell, and will try and get some more listed too."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Well done on keeping up with the PADs jwil - i find even if its just £1 or £2 it still make a difference and i feel better for it at the end of the month
My e-bay total is creeping along but its all about finding stuff to go on there now - and then really hoping it sells. I'm thinking of putting a couple of higher priced things on there - but will only do that if there is a free listing  They are things i'd love to keep but i need the money so if its free listing and they sell then great and if not - i get to keep them - better than them going for pittance. When i say high priced i mean £40-£80 so not loads to some people but alot to meCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -

Thanks DDFW. I've found that keeping up with the PADs is really helping to keep up my motivation at the moment.
I'm having a similar dilemma at the moment - I have a collection of items that I've been contemplating selling. I don't have the space for them really, but wouldn't easily be able to replace them when I'm debt free. I would really like to blast the debt though.
None are huge value, but I have a lot of them. Though when I checked on ebay this morning, it doesn't look like they are as popular as they were a few years ago, so maybe that solves my problem.
I think £40-£80 is a lot of money!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Going back to my earlier challenge - I usually make around £3 for many things I sell. That means to get £929 I need to sell 310 items . I relisted 91 items this morning, so that would help if some of them sold, but they are all relists so I'm not expecting a lot.
I'm due £55 cashback which I should have got last month, I could so do with that this month. Fingers crossed it arrives, though as with anything it's never guaranteed so I'm not relying on it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
