Morning all - there's the recipe jwil - i enjoy this served with boiled potatoes or rice :)

Am still feeling bleurgh! today but after another fairly decent nights sleep - again think i got a solid 4 hours in :) then this is helping.

Am going to be e-baying today so i can get my total off the ground :T

Peaceandfreedom - am sure you can hit 100 stars by the end of the year - will be fab and a fab amount of money for you to make too :T:T:T

Guys - confession to make is that i've never sold anything on amazon - never known how to go about it  But i may have just bought some books off there from the 1001 list you posted up jwil :D i have used my vouchers for this - reading is something i love love love doing and haven't been doing any due to the cost :( Charity shops near me are £3-£4 for a second hand book  so not really a cheaper alternative. But once i've read these books then i'll be listing them back up for sale so if anyone can help / advise me that'd be good :)

Country chicken casserole for the slow cooker

4 skinless chicken thighs - with the bone in
    1 x 400g tin chopped tomatoes
    2 sticks celery, finely chopped
1 small onion peeled and chopped
    75g mushrooms sliced
75g tin of sweetcorn (can use frozen)
    1tsp mixed herbs
    1/2pt chicken stock boiling
    1tbsp tomato puree
    seasoning
    1 bay leaf

Pre-heat the cooking pot on high setting for 20 minutes.
put all the ingredients into the cooking pot and mix, ensuring both veg and chicken are covered by the liquid.
put the lid on and cook: high setting = 4-5 hours OR low setting = 7-9 hours OR medium/auto setting = 6-8 hours.
Remove the bay leaf before serving.

Add extra tomato puree towards the end of the cooking time as this will thicken the sauce.

Thanks for this, that sounds good!

Good luck with the ebay listing DDFW, I might be popping some stuff on there later.

Which books did you buy? :D My amazon vouchers usually go on books too.

Amazon is really easy to sell - much quicker than ebay, but you've got to make sure you are getting enough for the book.

All you do to list is enter the barcode or isbn, select the condition, add any notes about the book regarding damage or anything, then set your price.

Amazon charge £2.80 postage to the customer, and credit you this, then they take a hefty whack in fees. When you list a book, they tell you what you will ultimately get when it sells. This figure includes the postage credit, so you have to work out what it will cost you to post, and then see whether it is worth you listing.

I know I can sell books for 50p at a boot sale, so I only list on amazon if I will get more than 50p for it.

You also need to check what other people are selling the book for - if loads have it listed for 1p, it's not worth it as you won't make any money from it.

You can either match the lowest price or go a bit above it. I don't generally undercut the lowest price as it can start a price war where everyone keeps lowering their prices. I will quite often price my books at the second or third lowest price especially if they are in better condition.

As an example, the book I sold yesterday - I listed it for £3.50, amazon charged the buyer £2.80 postage. After their fees etc, I received £4.34. It will cost me maximum £2.48 to post, so I have made £1.86. Not a huge amount, but more than I would get elsewhere.

The only thing to watch is that Amazon expect you to dispatch within 2 working days.

It sounds a lot more difficult than it is, it's so much quicker than ebay and you don't pay anything unless your item sells, and then it's taken automatically anyway.

Back to work tomorrow :( Annoyingly I haven't achieved half as much as I'd hoped, but some is better than nothing!

It's really thundering out there at the moment, and pouring with rain, but we managed to go booting this morning.

My DH is soooo annoying :p. He collects certain items, and when they come up, are often in a job lot. So he keeps the bits he wants, and then sells the rest. Anyway, he bought a box of stuff for £10 today, picked out the bits he wanted, and then looked up two bits to see if they were worth sticking on ebay. Each of them has gone recently for over £50  Why can't I find things like this? :rotfl: It's even more annoying that he's not buying to sell, he's buying because he wants something in the lot, anything extra is generally just a bonus and a way of getting some of the cash back that he has spent on the item. Well done him :T

Hi jwil - definitely very well done to your OH that is fab for him - hopefully he'll treat you to something nice when the money comes through :D Or it might just help out if his income has dropped recently :money:

The rain didn't bother me too much until i just went out in the garden to sort out the bins and couldn't help myself but continued to excavate the path - its all so much heavier when its wet isn't it? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I did a bit too much :o and am now not going out again for the rest of the day ;) Still, am half way there on the path work and the rest of the garden has been done so all good news there really :)

I am also back to f/t work tomorrow and am so not looking forward to it :( The days have gone really quickly but considering i've still worked p/t job, done M/S's had a little break away and have been poorly both last weekend and this weekend i realistically don't think i could have done any more than i have :)

I'm sure you have done lots too jwil - you've been out for the day with you hubby which is one of the best things to do when you've time :) you've been selling stuff on e-bay and on amazon and you have taken lots of things to the charity shop too and done some cooking :T:T:T Am sure there's lots more you've achieved as well :D

Thanks DDFW, I guess we have done a reasonable amount, but the house doesn't really look much different, and I had a few things in my head to do which I haven't managed to, so it's a bit annoying.

You've managed to get loads done while you were off, considering you were still working p/t and have been away!

Dh is starting some new counselling tomorrow, and the counsellor is coming to the house . It's a mess and I'll be so embarrassed. It's also making me nervous as he's been pretty good for the last few weeks, and I'm worried he'll go on a downer again. Hopefully not.

Anyway, the three items I listed on ebay the other day have now sold and that's £26.48 :T. The stuff I've listed later in the week are also selling well at the moment.

I've also listed 6 items for DH (including his lucky finds from this morning so we shall see with those :D).

    Hi Jwil

Never worry about the counsellor. She is not important in your life, don't stress yourself about the house. She is there to do a job and thats it. Hope that didn't sound too harsh. I worry about the state of mine if someone lands unexpectedly. I still remember the old american show Rhoda when she shared with her sister. The doorbell rang and it was their mother. I never seen 2 people move so quick. They had the mess tucked away by the time she arrived at their apartment. Impressive!!!

I hope the counselling will do some good for your hubby. I have had similar and in the long run it really helps. He might find all the talking of his problems difficult to cope with for a few days but it will pan out.

Well done on the ebay. Nice amount. Keep going. I sold 4 items over the weekend and netted about £15 so not bad for not really trying. I usually take a break from it over the school holidays as I try and earn extra over the year to cover school lunches etc. So this wee amount is mine for a change. Need an eye test and this will help towards that. Heading away for a break next week and will book one for when I come home.

Just wanted to ask you do have a large freezer or small. I used to have a giant one and found that it ate electric so got rid of it and bought a small energy efficent one. I am seriously considering buying another one next month as I will be able to store more whoopsies etc as there are 5 of us. So unsure should I buy a large one instead of another wee one. Decisions. Need to start listing more junk/treasures to cover that one!

    Take care
    God bless
    E
