My 84 year old mother who lives in the East Midlands was sold a £1700 chair yesterday by Lifestyle Mobility of Long Eaton, using exactly the same tactics as many others on this thread have reported. Luckily we have managed to get a full refund, what we cannot measure is the stress and upset it has caused. Please if you have an elderly person you know, warn them of this method of selling as I would hate this to happen to anyone else, but fear it may well....0

Dear Mickyh,
My mother, 85, also fell victim to "Lifestyle" of Long Eaton in January 2011. I am currently trying to get a refund from them as she cancelled the order - but no refund is (as yet) forthcoming.
May I ask how you went about it?0 -

My in-laws have been duped for a substantial 5 figure sum for a bathroom by Lifestyle which is never going to happen. Tomorrow is the 12 week anniversary of signing the deal, so we already have various bodies on their case.
Our suspicions were aroused the day we were passing their place - the guy doing the measurements was days late, & got there in the dark with his dolly bird in his van.

my elderly Mum appears to be the next victim of this company (Lifestyle)
She received a call in October stating they were in the area and would she like to have a salesman call.
She choose a walker frame from their catlogue and paid £160 there and then by cheque.
In December, the walker arrived but it was clearly a much cheaper model than the one she ordered - When she queried this, the delivery guy took it back.
After a few weeks, she called and was told that there has been "a fire" at their premises and the walker had been damaged but a replacement was on it's way....
Numerous phone calls and excuses later... still nothing.
They have now promised a full refund but 3 weeks later, we are still waiting...
She has now told me about all this so I will now get involved and see what I can do.
I'll keep you informed.
** UPDATE **
I have just searched for this product and can buy it elsewhere for as little as £550 -
dear toffer and minty,
so sorry to hear of your problems and as trumpton rightly says Trading Standards are the route to follow for your refund. We also contacted the local police force who were very helpful and made my mother feel at ease and even have visited subsequently on a couple of occasions to see how she is. i really hope you get your money back and in time your family members can put the whole experience behind them as best they can. regards0 -
I am afraid they are still at it as my elderly parents have also been duped into buying a matress from them. Despite many calls and eventualy an answer promising of delivery last wednesday the matress has not arrived and they now apear to be £900 out of pocket.0

You need to cancel the order in writing and contact Trading Standards - google Consumer Direct - asap. If the mattress turns up you are entitled to refuse delivery and/or return within 7 days of it being delivered.
Remember if you pay by credit card you can get on to the credit card company for a refund if you are having trouble getting a refund or the goods are not delivered.0
