Nice to see the thread bumped, though. Thanks, 528mike.
  • Just brought a bed and chair from the above no problem. Delivered in just under a month no problem. The one thing they could improve is letting customer know when items are being delivered.

Have you tried to google the models you bought or the specs and see how much extra you paid?
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Suspended jail term for mobility company owner

Published on Tue Dec 28 08:00:00 GMT 2010

The OWNER of a mobility company from Giltbrook has been given a suspended prison sentence after he was found to be using misleading and aggressive sales practices.

Amarjit Gill, who runs ABM Mobility from Gainsborough Business Park in Long Eaton, was found to be in contempt of court after breaching an injunction to trade legally and fairly.
Gill, 49, of Brackenfield Drive, Giltbrook, was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for three years.
Derbyshire County Council was granted an interim injunction in October 2009 ordering him to trade legally and fairly after more than 100 complaints to trading standards from the public.
Investigations by the authority revealed that the company was still using misleading and aggressive sales practices. A second injunction was granted in January 2010.
The injunction barred Gill from deceiving customers, using aggressive practices, making claims that they were acting on behalf of a government body or that sales staff were medically trained.
At a hearing at Nottingham County Court last Wednesday, a judge ruled that Gill had breached the injunction.
In his judgment, Judge Richard Inglis said: “Aggressive and unethical sales practices pervaded this business and were the essence of its approach.”
It is the first time the county council has used the Enterprise Act 2002 to claim a trader is in contempt of court for breaching an injunction.
Cllr Carol Hart, cabinet member for communities, said: “We took this action as a last resort.
“We’ve tried working with Mr Gill for a number of years and his business practices did not change. The majority of people buying mobility aids are elderly and vulnerable so we are determined to do all we can to protect them.
“ABM’s way of doing business was totally unacceptable and we are pleased with the outcome of this case.”

Thanks for the update. How much better it would have been if he had been given a huge fine and some jail time.

Yep, but that would have been at the taxpayers expense!
  • It looks like there is a new incarnation of Nationwide Healthcare, Virgo healthcare, ABM mobility etc. Yesterday my elderly father in law was sold a memory foam mattress for £1000 by Lifestyle Mobility & Healthcare. Just got out of hospital form an operation and gets a call from the company. Saleswoman arrives and tries to sell all manner of mobility equipment. Same pressure tactics, phone to office for discount etc. Address on invoice 2 Forbes Close, Long Eaton !
Father in law has cancelled the cheque so should be ok.
Despite Trading standards having a huge file on these people it doesn't seem tio stop them.
