  • Thanks I'll do that as in all honesty I believe that they won't take any notice of my letter once it's received and start posting out lots of letters etc instead :)

Who did you send the letter too? I take it as you haven't posted any more they have received the letter and you've had no further contact? From experience, reading what's been posted above and on other sites they are usually very good at removing people from calling lists, etc.

Hi JJames69, I obtained the address from their own web site and yes as of up to now no more annoying phone calls :D
  • Hi there,
My mom had these people round her house and she has handed over £280 to the guy for admin fees, I'm scared my mom's been ripped off, has anyone any advice on what I can do help her please?

I know someone who had a payout after using this company so on that basis you don't have anything to worry about. From the replies to this thread it seems that they are pretty efficient at dealing with problems and refund the fee if the claim doesn't payout.

You could always give them a call if you're concerned about anything.

Hi there, did she pay this by card? if she did get her to phone the card company and ask them to do a charge back.In the meantime, send a letter to the company and tell them you no longer require their services and to reply in writing that they have closed your case,if they do no respond in 14 days, you will put a complaint into these

    Hi all,

I received a call from Consumer Money Matters today also, saying exactly the same thing. Initially I agreed to have someone come to over to go through things, but then I changed my mind as I thought I would go it alone rather than pay someone 25% of my claim.
I was told "it may take you up to 6 months to get a response and/or claim.....we can do it in 12-14 weeks".
Anyway, 2 mins after putting the phone down with the sales person, his manager rings me, telling me exactly what ive already heard from the first person! she wasn't taking no for an answer at first! Talk about pressure selling! Completely put me off them.
Just thought this may be of help to someone who may get a call from them!

Im going it alone! wish me luck guys and girls

Soooo HOW DID YOU GET ON THEN?
  • Whatever you do ... Dont even consider using Consumer Money Matters......They are not to be touched....My wife recently contacted them about reclaiming ppi and was told that they do not charge a penny up front and that she needed to make an appointment for someone to come and visit the house.....which she agreed to initially.....they then phoned at 9.30pm to confirm the appointment...i thought it a bit strange for a business to phone this late......i decided to do a bit of research on them , only to find complaint after complaint after complaint.........needless to say , we contacted them to cancel the appointment , only to be given dogs abuse down the phone by there agent....he was so rude and obnoxious to my wife you wouldnt believe.....she had told them that she had researched them and could find nothing but complaints about them and that was the reason that she was cancelling the appointment.....he was then again very aggressive and rude to her and told her that if thats how she behaves "they didnt want our business anyway" and hung up on her.

dont touch them with a barge pole !!!

I am very surprised to read of your experience with the company, and if I take everything you have said at face value then there will be action taken by CMML. If you or your wife wish to contact us on 0116 249 2462 I will be able to review the recording of the telephone call to see exactly what was said and at what time. We do not phone clients at 9:30pm to confirm appointments without specific permission to do so, so this would be checked carefully, as would your allegations that the phone operative was abusive. We will not tolerate any form of abuse.

Your research will throw up web-sites such as MSE, which provides an invaluable service. We monitor it to try and identify where ever our services might have gone wrong. Invariably we see dissatisfied former employees making bad comments, but you have also hopefully seen that we try and reply to customer complaints and volunteer to investigate the situation in detail.

Oh so you work for them?
  • There are just a few points I would like to make on this thread.
Without the claims company's prompting, who in their heart of hearts would have got round to making a claim at all?
Do you really know how to calculate the compensation?
Can you really put your trust in the banks to pay out the maximum available?
Are they ringing the customers to whom they know have been mis-sold to offer a refund?
I have conducted a claim for one of my friends about a year ago, as a favour. It was a clear case of mis-selling to a mentally ill man. I found the process both difficult and time-consuming, and I am an experienced financial adviser!
