Just back from 'Mother sitting' again this weekend.

Thanks to all of you for your good wishes. I must admit to feeling very vulnerable at the moment. I'm absolutely gutted I'm having heart problems again after so many years of fantastic health.
Trying to keep the stress levels low - but being pampered in a spa in the Bahamas would help loads.
Any charitable millionaires reading this and wondering where to offload some cash for tax purposes? :rotfl:
Hope you are all going on OK, and enjoying some lovely sunshine if you're lucky. Take care.

Well done for getting interest suspended.:j
Unfortunately my creditors (Nat West Tesco & PO) not willing to suspend ours at the moment.
Is it worth writing personal letters to these people. We've been with Nat West for so long been good customers and never defaulted till now. Or do we just leave it to Pay Plan?
Also we've found out this week that Nat West manage Tesco which means that by far the main bulk of our enormous debt is with Nat West. Is that a negative?
    Thanks everyone

    Sorry no answer re:Nat West.
But as to 'do we just leave it to Pay Plan?' I always believe it helps to be a bit pro-active yourself. The debt relief charities are fantastic but so very busy (see Ian's recent link to a newspaper article.)
They are brilliant but your account is one of many.
So why not write a letter to your creditors (then you've got a copy to keep) outlining your past good business and your willingness to work with them to aleviate your debt problem? To be honest to some of them your past history is worthless, but some listen so it's always worth a shot. At the very least it makes you feel that YOU have some control in what is going on around you.
The first months are always a bit rocky. It is a time of 'sizing' each other up. They might default you further down the line and stop interest then.
    Good luck!

Thank the Lord I found this forum. It is so helpful having all your support.

I just had to share this. My mum bought some lamb ribs over for the dog today! Nearly two quid! I only buy the lamb bones for her myself. (20p)
Anyway she had two small ones and mum put the rest in the fridge for 'later on'. No chance, I've already earmarked them for a nice meal.
OMG I can't believe i'm actually eating the dogs food:rotfl:

    Thank you everybody:)

    Hi to all fellow-DMPers.....

I am interested in your thoughts on a potential scenario.........

I have had my DMP through CCCS for 14 months and pay £928 a month. I should have paid everything off in 4-5 years (depending on interest and charges accumulating - all of which have been reduced/frozen).

I currently house-share (which allows me to pay such a large chunk of my wages towards my DMP).

If I were to rent a place of my own, obviously my living costs would increase (by approximately £200 - £300 I think).
Obviously my monthly payment would have to reduce to accommodate my new outgoings total.

    I have 2 questions:

    1. Has anyone had any experience of moving mid-DMP and am I right in presuming that it is better to rent privately with good references to avoid the expected negative credit check?
    2. Would the CCCS and my creditors be likely to get on board with this?

I am just exploring my options so all opinions welcome.
    I think I asked 3 questions actually....:D

    Many thanks for reading this.
Proud to be dealing with my debts

  • Fingers crossed that we may actually recieve our CCCS welcome pack today??
I have spent the weekend drafing rough letters to Natwest regarding the token payments etc. I have also rough drafted letters to send if they refuse to stop intrest/fees.. I think i'm getting organised (maybe a little ahead of myself??)
Token payments are now sent so... here's hoping they won't be too hard on us???

    Hi Guys

Not been on for a while just thought i would update you. My first Payment went out on the 01st of this month and Halifax have accepted the plan and stopped interest!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woop Woop

Got to get barclaycard and citifinancial on board yet but heres hoping!!!!!!!!!

Just got a couple of questions i hope someone can answer, The debt with Halifax on the credit card is 6,800 and my limit was 6,100 so the 700 is all charges does anyone think it might be worth writing to them and see if they will reduce this to 6,100 so i can pay it off in a timely manner? Also is it worth me trying to claim back the insurance that Citifinancial has charged me each month?

Lastly does anyone have any experience of your credit rating changing as you get into the plan as i know mine will be awful at present?

Wanna really thank people like tooth fairy, twit head and many others who have been great support with their advice and kind words. Entering the plan is the best thing i have done as it has given me back peace of mind and that i will be debt free. Hopefully i can start to share some of my experiences with others who are thinking or have just started off.
