    Hi Jupster,

Congratulations on Halifax accepting the plan and stopping interest. It is always a good feeling when the first 'Yes' comes in.
Barclaycard is one of my creditors and they accepted fairly quickly. They haven't frozen interest but have reduced it massively.

I am presuming you are in an official DMP?
If your Halifax debt is 6800 all in and they have stopped interest, your DMP payment will chip away at it. I don't know if it is worth writing to them; as far as my limited experience goes, my creditors have sometimes wiped off a few months of charges but most have not. It's worth a go maybe; I guess they can only say Yes or No.

Re credit rating - if you have defaulted on any payments by paying less then the minimun then you will have had a default notice. These last for 6 years on your record irregardless of how long your debt takes to pay off. So you are probably like most of us with a wrecked credit rating ;)

Good luck with the rest of your creditors jumping on board!

    Hi Guys

Not been on for a while just thought i would update you. My first Payment went out on the 01st of this month and Halifax have accepted the plan and stopped interest!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woop Woop

Got to get barclaycard and citifinancial on board yet but heres hoping!!!!!!!!!

Just got a couple of questions i hope someone can answer, The debt with Halifax on the credit card is 6,800 and my limit was 6,100 so the 700 is all charges does anyone think it might be worth writing to them and see if they will reduce this to 6,100 so i can pay it off in a timely manner? Also is it worth me trying to claim back the insurance that Citifinancial has charged me each month?

Lastly does anyone have any experience of your credit rating changing as you get into the plan as i know mine will be awful at present?

Wanna really thank people like tooth fairy, twit head and many others who have been great support with their advice and kind words. Entering the plan is the best thing i have done as it has given me back peace of mind and that i will be debt free. Hopefully i can start to share some of my experiences with others who are thinking or have just started off.

    Hi

I have a fair bit of experience with Halifax ;) like you they accepted my DMP for 6 months and froze all interest and charges, then without any warning re started to add interest at the contractual rate and £24 in charges each month. I wrote to them many times as did CCCS and all of our correspondance was ignored. I was then telephoned daily for 6 months and each time I explained my situation to the call centre staff ie DMP with CCCS etc, I was lied to ended up going around in circles. In the end I gave up and no longer answered their harrasing calls, I contacted the FOS who then contacted Halifax and I ended up with a refund of all of the added interest and charges totalling over £300, so it is always worth asking, as you don't get unless you do and they can only say no. I would send an offical complaint to Halifax , asking them to freeze interest and all charges as they are not helping you to get back on your feet and that they could put your DMP at risk, I would also ask them to consider refunding all of the interest and charges that they have already added as a gesture of goodwill.

Can I also suggest that you contact Halifax 1 month before your agreement expires to prevent what happened to me happening to you.

You never know it depends how hard things get here.:o
Well done to all of you getting some good news.
I've got a distinct lack of correspondence from anyone here. Well apart from two sparkling new Tesco visa credit cards this morning:eek:
Tesco is one of our creditors (large loan)although the credit card with them didn't have anything on it so I presume they aren't communicating between depts yet??

BTW I did eat the dog's meat (lamb this time not chum yet.) I nearly backed down because whe I got it out of the fridge she recognised the pack from when she had it the day before.
Anyway I was strong, added loads of veg and pearl barley and it fed both OH and me tonight and it was lovely. :D:D
Think I need to get out more.:o

For dinner today I spoilt myself and got a £2 rotisserie chicken that Co-Op/Somerfield were selling off cheap. Had that with salad, and the leftovers should do my lunch and dinner tomorrow too. :D

    Morning All!

Can I please just ask your eternal advice and wisdom as to how you all made token payments to creditors if you have had to set up a bank account with no cheque book like a Cashminder account?

Should I do it by debit card or postal order?

Hoping to get to speak to someone at CCCS tonight or tomorrow to get my plan underway, I just need to speak to them about my baby being due in October so my SOA reflects what it will be then, not now! confusing!!

I think most on here use postal orders, I've no idea on how to go about it though!
