  • Hi Everyone

Have changed home phone number, am with virgin and the first time you change it there is no charge:j. I have a lovely vintage phone it is in full working order with its lovely old fashioned ring. I got fed up with losing the pleasure of enjoying the vintage sound as I always presumed it was creditors and the sound started to make my heart pound :(so I took the drastic step of changing it.

I also found a fabulous call blocker for my mobile as I didn't recognise a missed call and google revealed it to be RSB one of my creditors., must have given my mobile no in a "blonde moment".

    Morning All!

Can I please just ask your eternal advice and wisdom as to how you all made token payments to creditors if you have had to set up a bank account with no cheque book like a Cashminder account?

Should I do it by debit card or postal order?

Hoping to get to speak to someone at CCCS tonight or tomorrow to get my plan underway, I just need to speak to them about my baby being due in October so my SOA reflects what it will be then, not now! confusing!!

    xxx

I just did a SO from my bank - not sure how it will work with your acc, I didn't need to change mine :o

    Afternoon All!

Just wanted to say thank you for your advice on sorting token payments out - I have today finally taken the brave step of signing up for the DMP (will start in October) and am currently waiting for my welcome pack :j

I've cancelled all my DD's from my old current account, set up standing orders for token payments ready for next month from my new account and am feeling so much happier already just for getting the ball rolling! :o

I know that the first couple of months will be hard with letters are phone calls flooding in but it can't be any worse (surely!) than lying awake at night worrying how I'm going to get through the month.

Could I please now officially request a number for this thread so I can update my signature?

    Thanks!

    xx

Hi Sherry :T:T Well done - nothing can be as bad as the night time worrying and calculating. I found that the phone calls and letters were much easier once you'd your cccs number to quote.
I've just noticed you've a baby due in October - look forward to hearing your news, if your dmp is up and running then you shouldn't be too bad for calls , but have you though about changing your number anyway. Think I would have done if I'd a new baby!

    'Twitty'

Hope not, I've a weeks holiday to use up :rotfl:

I've had 3 three missed calls from Tesco today; 1 at work, 2 at home.

I not trying to avoid them, its just one of those things but the OH is worried because I haven't spoken to them (these calls only) I sent them a letter a couple of weeks ago asking to hold on the interest for 28 days and explain the situation , which they acknowledged but saying they couldn't do anything.

They will also be getting the DMP letter in the post the next couple of days (it was posted yesterday).

OH wants me to phoned them but I don't think I need to or am I being naive?

    Hi powerchimp,

I never spoke to any of my creditors while my DMP was being set up - was too scared:o - and only spoke to them for the first time ever 14 months into my DMP to explain why I had to make a one-off reduced payment.

When I did speak to them, they were all very polite and friendly which was a relief.

I think in hindsight, I should have actually spoken to them sooner but you've got to do what is comfortable to you. You are communicating with them and letting them know what is happening so I wouldn't worry too much.:D

    Hi Everyone.
Well I wrote some letters today. One cancelling the shiny new credit cards and massive credit limit sent by Tesco and a couple of letters to creditors to back up what I know they would have got from Payplan.

Spent the rest of the day sorting through mountains of old paperwork getting rid of loads and getting organised.
The best thing (although a bit time consuming)was that I followed the advice from this site and got various quotes for car insurance from different places and it looks as if we are saving a massive £40 a month in total:T I couldn't believe it. We were with Tesco and thought they were reasonably good but have just renewed with them each year. Part of it was the pointles add on bits which they seemed to have sneaked in over the years. (and we didn't check:o)

Then to top it off OH spent a while negotiating with Virgin who are our TV Phone and Internet providers. We could have got a better deal with BT although it would have been a big hassle to change but they have matched it so we are really pleased. (saving approx£20 a month)

I honestly didn't realise how much we could save and just how great it feels to be (at least partially) in control.
Still scared about the interest mounting up still so fingers crossed that creditors come on board and freeze it for us.

    Current situation:

Diokea have closed our account and asked for the full amount and want to default and send to DCA already. Same with Testicles Clubcard CC.

Santander, who up to now have sent very nice letters accepting our DMP payment and stopping charges have suddenly sent a letter demanding a telephone number as they have 'things to discuss with us'! If we don't send them a phone number or ring them they will 'continue action upon the account in order to protect the company's interests! I did laugh quite loudly at that bit.

MBNA - we think - have stopped charges and interest on their two CCs for now and accepted payments from DMP - I mean you read the letters and most of it is read between the lines as they are not THAT clear but we think that is what they say.

Next seem to be doing their own thing as they keep quoting a lower amount than we are actually offering them - which goes with their non-existant conversation they say they had with us to set up a three month payment plan with them. We will see what happens in three months LOL

Hellifix are still playing silly buglers.

I do have a question about all of the letters we receive and that is do CCCS get the same letters? I don't want to keep ringing CCCS to see if they are getting the same information as we are because some of it seems to infer that if 'we' don't do something within a certain time they will do 'xyz' when CCCS are trying to offer them money. We are paying the money to CCCS so they are the ones with the purse strings. Are they left hanging by these companies or what?
