  • Well, CCCS have been in touch this week mainly to request info i'd forgotten to give :o oops... there's an awful lot to remember...

They have now emailed to say they've worked out our budget to be lower than we'd first put in (mainly as I'm on holiday hours till Sept 2nd!!) so our payment is now going to be £100 per mth (originally £198)
I'm really worried as it's stating it'll take 18yrs to clear the debts... (was originally 9yrs) that's without adding any of the interest/charges....:(
Ohhh are we doing the right thing?? *wobble*

Oh, while I think of it, can anyone tell me where to find template letters to request intrest/charges freezing etc, I've trawled the thread but with no luck..:(

Thoughts to you & yours Goingfwd.. x

My DMP is set for 18yrs too, at £99 a month... you have definitely done the right thing if it gives you peace of mind! I feel so much more calm about things knowing that its going to be paid off even if it will be a long time away!

Also, you will get a template letter in your DMP pack from CCCS, I just printed xx number of copies then hand wrote the rest - remembering NOT to put my signature on it!

Sorry to hear about your Dad GF, hope he is better soon

You may find what you need here and also PayPlan or CCCS should have their own samples on their websites, if you belong to either you should be able to use those too?

Hi again - update on the DMP.

I received a letter yesterday from American Express advising
they are stopping interest charges (i.e. reducing interest to 0% on my debt).
I have heard nothing from my other two creditors.
My DMP (through the cccs) kicks in on 1st Sept 2010.

    So far so good.
  • Another letter from a creditor this morning ... from Northern Rock explaining they are freezing interest and await further correspondence from the CCCS on my behalf.
  • Bit of good news today; managed to reduce my motor insurance by £120 p.a.

It's with the same company and insurer:eek: rang them and they gave me a new price straightaway, it just goes to show how much of a rip off it is.

If I wasn't in difficulty I won't have bothered phoning, would just paid the premium.

  • Hi everyone, hope you are all ok.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, Goingforward, and Twitty, your health problems too. I hope everything gets sorted out for you both as quickly as possible.

Had my first review on Tuesday - interesting experience! It was basically fine - they check through your personal and employment details, then go through your income and budget. My budget has gone down slightly with a cheaper mobile and cutting back on bits and bobs here and there but I said it was the same to allow for things going up next year, so she just read each figure out for me to confirm. My payrise has given me an extra 59 a month, but the Payplan lady was absolutely insistent I shouldn't raise my payments by more than twenty pounds or so, even though I had more to spare, in case there was a problem further into the year and I couldn't manage the payments. It was very realistic and sensible of them really. I haggled bit as I really want my DFD down a bit more so my payments have gone up by 26 pounds a month and she "massaged" my budget figures to absorb the rest. I've got about thirty pounds a month spare so I'm going to squirrel that away. Right, fingers crossed my creditors accept for another year!

Also the same day as my review HSBC FINALLY accepted on my overdraft - it's only taken them a year!

  • Hey, Yellow Pinky, let us know how you got on with your further F&F offer to Gothia. I'm getting really carried away with the thought of 'someday F&Fs' today, it's actually going to happen one day now, even in the distant future!!

Hi TTF, I'll keep updating as I go, it's just rather slow and painful! I've given Gothia till next Friday to respond otherwise it will go to someone else. I hope I do get somewhere with this as they are the one I really want rid of out of all my creditors as they never officially accepted my DMP. I put the whole of this on hold several times as HSBC/Metropolitan kept kicking off and I wanted to see how serious they were, so it's been even longer than it should! I'm glad that the review's out of the way and hopefully now if HSBC have settled I can concentrate on this properly. I hope you get to do some F & F's too eventually :)

And great news for you and your OH about the interest! :j

Afternoon everyone, looks like a few positives for a few of us today:)

Two more letters arrived to today for me, one from M&S to say that they will wait for CCCS to contact them with a proposal for payment and in the meantime to keep up with the £1 token payments and the other from MBNA who say that they "look forward" to discussing my level of repayment and to let me know that the reduced payment programme will be recorded on my file for the life of the account and then for a further 6 years afterwards... is that correct?

I've been busy baking this afternoon (inspired by this forum). I haven't done any cooking/baking for ages as OH usually does it all. I've really enjoyed myself making batches of different soups and flans to freeze and I've even dug out my breadmaker and there is a fruit loaf baking as I write:) My breadmaker is almost new (probably only used 5/6 times) and has sat in a cupboard for years. I had to re-stock with ingredients but had £11 of Tesco vouchers so only had to pay 20p towards the cost and will probably have around 18 meals in total:j

In a weird way I feel really liberated at the moment and very determined... a total turnaround from the gibbering wreck of 4 weeks ago;)

Hi YP, and thanks for getting back to us. I've been slightly dreading my review because we can only go up £15-20 a month, but my reason for that is, my pay rise this year was £28 , but electric has gone up from £55pm to £70pm and petrol has gone through the roof in 12 months!
Also, how can you ever put a wee bit away for F&F's when every penny goes on this? OH hasn't had a pay rise this year, and isn't expecting one because of all the cuts. Well done on your HSBC victory! :T
