Thanks for the reply HH, thats the only thing worrying me, debt collectors at the door because i am only making small payments through DMP. Thanks again will sit tight now with fingers, arms and legs crossed!!

Doorstep collection is very expensive so usually a scare tactic. They aren't allowed in even if they do come. Only Baillifs and only then if you default on a CCJ, I'm sure you will not find yourself in that position. There are some 'don't darken my doorstep' letter on the debtline website, very helpful for when you feel you need to be doing something to balance the nerves. I do know where you're coming from, I thought I was going to end up living in one room with the curtains closed when I started this. Now I'm soooooo much more empowered I'm like 'bring it on thugs'. It will not happen.
I have a CCCS client ref number, as opposed to the Wxxxxxx I had before, and had to quote it on all the letters... so in short, yes I think so! :D

More good news then Sarah. A wee tip I picked up if you go to the CCCS website there is a DMP login in the top right hand corner. I didn't see it there for ages! If you enter that number in a couple of days time and then press 'remind me of my password' you can access it quicker than waiting for it to arrive in the post.

Well done Sarah:) I'm a little way behind you and just waiting for my sort code and bank account number so that I can send off my stuff to CCCS

    Ellie xx

A day closer every day Ellie. Just wait until you're posting first payment sent to CCCS, first from CCCS and dare I say DFD yippee. In the interim we have each other for support and most of all let's not forget our sense of humour!

Well, I posted a while back about a letter I had written to Sainsburys Visa about the large amount of 'reduced' rate of interest they were charging me.
I received, what I can only describe as a 'snotogram', from them today to say that, basically, my debt was decreasing. They only charge interest they think is fair, so what was I complaining about? Oh, and by the way, if I couldn't make my repayments, here's the number to call.
Yep, umbrella, smumbrella ( or should that be schmuckbrella!!).
I am still encouraging OH to appeal his sudden re-application of interest rate. At least they stopped his at the start ( Sainsburys never did) then lumped it all back on again so perhaps we may get somewhere with that one.
I shouldn't complain about the last 2 creditors of the 12, but what 2 greedy beggars!! Especially since we have been customers since 1992 and 1996.
God help the poor mugs just getting sucked into their world. Umbrella, anyone? ( I'm singing in the rain!)

    ttf

Do I detect a miffed off person? ;)
Sorry TF you didn't get any further with this one. Doesn't seem to matter how long or how loyal a customer you have been does it?
I've been with my bank for nigh on 40 years (thank goodness they weren't involved in my DMP, as I gather they can be one of the worst.) When it all goes bottom up your pristine financial record seems to be worth zilch!
Keep plugging on - we will be out of the mire one day and we are going to be very selective who we favour!

Debt Collectors cannot come knocking at your door uninvited. They would be breaking the law if they did. I have attached a letter than can be used if they threaten to. The only people allowed to attend your premises uninvited are the postman and someone seeking direction. See Template Below.

    Dear Sirs,

    Account No: XXXXXXXX

Please be advised that I will only communicate with you in writing. I have noted your repeated attempts to contact me over the past few weeks and these have been duly logged by time and date. Should it be your intention to arrange a doorstep visit, please be advised that under OFT rules, you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I have no wish to make such an appointment with you.

There is an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; the postman and people asking for directions etc (Armstrong v Sheppard & Short Ltd [1959] 2 QB 384. per Lord Evershed M.R.). Therefore take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives to visit me at my property and, if you do so, you will be liable to damages for a tort of trespass and action will be taken, including but not limited to, police attendance.

    Yours faithfully

on the card they are taking to court its just under 3k - we have 2 with nationwide but nothing on the other one - i owe a lot in total - looking at 2016  with 58k in total  they are getting about £37.21pcm on this card. to be honest nationwide represents a small % of our total debt
Think I remember reading somewhere that it costs a bank around £1500 to take it to court, don't quote me on that though! Either way it costs them a lot and the judge will see that you're doing the best you can, so the judge will more than likely agree with what they're already getting, so try not to panic too much.

think its more frustration than panic - I have heard similar amounts myself that's why I find it hard to believe they would bother but its their perogative! idiots;)

  • Evening all...

Ok my plan was to make token payments to my creditors for next month (and to the 2 i havent paid this month) and then make my first payment to CCCS on the 1st Sept but my car has decided to die (yesterday on my sons birthday great timing lol). Problem is its not worth much yet its quite rare so parts are hard to find and expensive . I cant afford a new car so will have to repair this one at a cost of about £350.

Anyway will it pee my creditors (and the cccs) off if i again make token payments in Sept and start the DMP on the 1st October?

I'm so bloody stressed i cant think straight lol... my dad is having chest pains again (already had 6 heart attacks and this time last yr he spent 6 weeks in a coma with mutliple organ failure so thats kind of praying on my mind).. car broken, the list is endless lol.

And (does anyone else feel like this) i feel so guilty about going on a DMP... I keep telling myself doing a DMP means the creditors will get back every penny we owe them and a lot quicker than they would otherwise have done but i just feel we are doing something wrong.

new question... if we do undertake a DMP, what happens when we need to renew car/truck insurance?? There is no way we can afford it without it being monthly.... as it's "credit" will we be allowed? I'm very concerned about this as it would instantly stop us from earning!
