Hi MIKON,
Thanks for your reply. As the person at egg told me I had to pay the extra £100
online by 4pm today here is what I intend to do (further to your post above).
1. Make a token online payment of £1 to the egg card by 4pm today.
2. Send egg a secure online message from my egg account
informing them that:
~I am currently experiencing financial difficulties.
~I have contacted the CCCS who are assisting me in managing the financial situation.
~In the meantime I have made a token online payment to the egg card account today.
3. Request that the egg card account be put on hold for 30 days while I assess
the situation with the assistance of the CCCS to find a solution and that no
further interest or charges be applied to the account during this period.
4. Further to the phone conversation I had with a member of staff from egg yesterday,
that future communication take place in writing to the address my account is registered with.
5. That they please post me a written statement showing the balance of the egg card account with the account/reference number of the egg card account.
(Note: the CCCS have asked for this).
Thank you.0 -

It came to me in the night that my mortgage is with the bank that I am moving away from so I wasn't sure how to tackle the DD for this because at this stage they don't know that I am going onto a DMP - I blew this one out of all proportion at 3am i.e. they take my mortgage payment to offset against other debts which puts me into arrears and then they re-possess my home, now rational me knows that this won't happen but my blubbering alter-ego had us homeless and penniless:o
Thanks

I think I phoned each company up and did it over the phone. No problems whatsoever. Think I had around 10-15 DDs in place. There were a couple of issues where they didn't go through in time, Council Tax for example. They simply altered my monthly payments as appropriate.
Regards mortgage payments, I had a small OD debt with my mortgage provider, and as far as I'm/they're concerned it's totally separate, and they won't offset.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Thanks Ian, much appreciated:T

Do Not Sign any correspondence that you send to creditors. Electronically sign all letters. Some creditors will try and lift your signature and use it on a CCA to make it an enforceable debt. I sent mine recorded delivery.
Regards
Thanks mikon, I was just going to write my name at the bottom of the letter

Hi All.
Have been lurking around for a few days now, just wanted to say what a wonderful group of peeps u all are, I feel better just reading the thread & we've (my hubby & I) have a loooong way to go yet!
We are hoping to start a DMP with the CCCS. We went through the debt remedy on the website & are waiting for an email.
But we could really do with some of your excellent advice in the meantime...........
The debts we owe are all to Natwest, consisting of a loan (£16888.00) Overdraft (£3400) and credit card (£1550)
Natwest are aware we are in financial difficulty as we had a meeting with them last week to discuss possible options, when I mentioned bankcruptcy the man nearly fell off his chair & said I needn't be so drastic!
He then said he could possibly get us a deal to consolidate but it would mean going from £22k debt to £38k overnight & with 10 years to pay!!!
We did say to him that's not really helping, just digging us deeper but it's his job to make them money, not help us!
So, after looking on here & asking a few questions on the debt free wannabe's thread, we have opened new bank accounts with Lloyds (a joint, single and business) all with NO OVERDRAFTS! (have posted SOA on there... somewhere...)
I have contacted all of the relevant places regarding tax credit payments, child benefit etc to get them to pay into new account and have done most of the household bills d/d's to get them paid out.
Right, now for the questions..
Are Natwest likely to accept a DMP and freeze the interest/charges especially as any payments we make is just for them?
(and we've never missed a payment on any of the debts... yet)
Both my husband and I are self employed, hubby being a relief milker/agri worker so our incomes go up and down, what happens if they go down & we then can't afford the payments?
ummm...
can't remember the other so that will have to do for starters!:o
Ooh can I have a number please Ianthank you in advance...

Well that is the million dollar question. What you will see on this and other threads are different answers regarding Natwest. Each individual is dealt with on an individual basis and loyalty does not come into it either. Natwest will hopefully stop interest charges but this may take a couple of months and normally they will want to see that your certain about going on a DMP so they wait until the receive the first couple of DMP payments. Other people on this site are probably battling with Natwest over interest charges. So you just have to ensure you keep Natwest informed and make sure you maintain the monthly payments even if it is a £1 token payment until your DMP is up and running

This is something you will need to seek advice from CCCS on. I cannot advise on this matter.
Contact CCCS immediately tomorrow and get the DMP up and running ASAP. Also the first and foremost thing you need to do is get another Bank Account at a bank that is not linked to NATWEST. Then get your salaries paid into that account so that NATWEST does not claw your salaries and offset them against the Debt.
I hope this has answered your questions.
Good Luck and well done in facing up to your problem.

Thank you Mikon
I will ring CCCS tomorrow to see if they have processed any of our information that I sent via the internet & ask how quickly we can get up and running with a DMP!

After 9 months Nationwide (after the last 3 months of silence) have decided to take one of our accounts to court! - I have had a letter detailing the charges that will be added to the account and that the papers have been sent to the court.
I am with payplan and have updated them accordingly - It does go on to say you have been charged X amount and this will be payable if actions continues further.
The letter suggests action is underway and I will receive court papaers in the next few days/weeks.
Has anyone else had any experience of Nationwide - is it still possible that this is more of a threat than a promise?
I have been paying since last October - have had no breaks and intend to up the amount in October - Would a judge look at this and wonder why they are bothering with such action? - Bizarre this DMP world - no rhyme nor reason!:mad:0 -
Mrs Gibbs Hello and welcome, our income varies hugely from one month to the next too, CCCS looked our last 6 months pay and took the average. It can be tough some months, but the idea is on the months where you have extra you put the extra away for the tough months, I haven't quite got that right yet but we always muddle through.
Grantalien I can't comment on Nationwide, but BoS did something similar to us a while back, never received any court papers even though the letter said 'We are starting court action'. So probably just trying to scare you.0
