Hi everyone. I'm not a newbie to DMP but am a newbie to this board. Just wanted to say though that I have been a lurker for a couple of months and the advice and support given here is fantastic. I'm quite a worrier and always manage to find the info needed to put my mind at rest here. Thanks again.0

I think I will be here for some time to come so looking forward to getting to know you all!!
Hello to you and everyone else just starting, and to those who have 'lurked'
We're a mixed bunch but I think you'll find we're all very friendly, and that someone will always try to help if they can.
And as to membership fees - just send a cheque made out to 'Twitty' of no-money-in-the-bank :rotfl:
(Only joking!)
Welcome to all!

Hi everyone
I have just joined the world of DMPs via CCCS, after having my Light Bulb Moment in February. They have been really helpful all the way through so far. I can't fault anyone I've spoken to on the phone and although this is a stressful process to go through, they have reassured me whenever I've phoned in with questions. Long may that continue! Also the Debt Remedy online process was really simple to go through.
If you have a partner/spouse, one thing I would definitely recommend is telling them about your debts if you haven't already, as you will need their support whilst going through this process!
So - I am just at the stage of setting up the direct debit with CCCS and am now starting to get contact/letters from creditors about my old DDs being cancelled etc. Had a nice surprise this morning though - MBNA, my biggest creditor, have agreed to freeze interest and charges. :T I have fingers and toes crossed about the other 6!
For the record my total unsecured debt is £31,312 and after doing my SOA with CCCS, the monthly payment will be £550 - quite a challenging budget to live within too so will have to see how it goes...
One awkward moment was when I set up a new bank account with Barclays, away from my original debts which include my old overdraft. The shock came the day after I did this, when I learned that Egg (my 2nd biggest creditor) were selling their card business to Barclaycard - so for safety's sake I have opened another account with Co-op and will transfer fully to them from May. I don't know whether Barclays could do 'offsetting' (taking money from bank a/cs to pay off credit card debt) against my old Egg card, but I didn't want to risk it.
Anyway enough rambling... that is my story so far. My DMP starts properly in May (got C/Tax arrears to sort out in April before it starts), so wish me luck...
PS please can I have a DMP thread number? Ta0 -
Hi Everyone, with thanks to all the great advice on this site my DMP should be up and running in the next month, but I was wondering how all you guys and gals are doing so far and any advice you can give me for my journey ahead.0

Morning all, and welcome to all newbies
Just a quick update from me as we reached a milestone in our debt free journey yesterday - OH was discharged from bankruptcy :j
I can't believe it's been a whole year
So now it's a matter of getting this darned DMP paid off asap, trouble is we keep thinking we are getting to the point where we can start putting a few pounds away towards full and finals then something else crops up (usually car related). This week it's new tyres, next month it's MOT plus all the repairs they usually manage to find, plus DDs 18th birthday. I was hoping to pick up some extra work covering maternity leave but it's public sector so still waiting to have the funding approved, but at least my self-employed work is still busy.
Anyhow, things are as quiet as ever creditor-wise. I haven't heard a peep from Metropolitan since they accepted the DMP payments 18 months or so ago, and even if I don't manage to up my DMP payments, I'm now only 17 months away from clearing it so can really see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I don't always contribute much to this thread but I do lurk a bit as I like to see how everyones getting on. I can't believe how many newbies there have been lately! It's nice to see so many people using the forums cos there's nothing as good as advice and support from people who are going through the same experiences, but at the same time a bit sad that there are so many people in trouble.
Right, as I have the morning off, I'm off to peruse the Flylady thread to see what I should be spending my time doing rather than sitting here playing with the laptop.

Hello, all. Hope you're all keeping well. I've not been having a great time of things at the moment. My two months grace seems to have whizzed by without my doing anything productive. My first DMP payment goes out on 1st... I checked my balance with Wonga and it looks like they've started charging again which isn't great news. Things still feel really messy, tbh. Am going to have a sit down tonight and make a list of what's outstanding and maybe do some prioritising but I seem to have lost some of my initial enthusiasm and drive. Anyone else get this??0
