What!? Someone got good news from the Halifax? Stone the crows!

Seriously, very best wishes to all who started on their DMP's today.:T

    You won't look back!

    ttf

    Hey,

Strangely (in comparison to most other people's experiences) the Halifax has been absolutely great with us. Even returning some money that was inadvertently paid into the closed (and 5k OD) account after our DMP started. Can't fault them tbh!

Now Barclays is a whole other story......

    Hi All,

Just wanted to say thanks for posting on here - I have taken courage from all your posts and have just filled out the paperwork for the CCCS DMP.... here goes nothing! £23,900 to go, fingers crossed.

Hales82 - love your blog! Am also a mummy (of 1 daughter aged 2) and work full-time and reading it makes me feel I am not alone! So thanks.

Also, I was just wondering if anyone has tried to reclaim PPI from a creditor while being on DMP? I have an Egg loan which I have worked out is approx £2,500 in PPI alone - over 10% of my total debt. Not really sure what to do, whether to try and reclaim whilst on DMP - any ideas?

    Thanks everyone

    Hi

I claimed PPI against LLoyds. They said that the money needs to go direct to the outstanding debt, but as I pointed out the loan was taken and completed before my DMP and they then paid all the money to myself (to buy tyres, Tax etc).

Give it a go, good luck.:):):)

OK all, here's some news from me: Lloyds the  have passed my overdraft to Apex Credit management, remember been on DMP for almost 4 years, (September), have 3 accounts with Llloyds, Credit card, Loan and overdraft, used to bank with them in my earlier life! lol: anyhoo made payment via standing order as usual and this morning went to check my account, I check daily lol: noticed that the o/draft payment had been credited to my account.

I rang them up to be told by an Indian call centre representative that this has now been passed onto Apex. To be fair I had notification that this account would be passed on, but no notifiction that it had been done and it was going to be Apex, after putting this to the Lloyds representative, he said according to his notes this was only done today and he sees a letter is being sent to me today!!!

To be fair don't really have a problem with it moving along, especially if interests will finally be stopped, (wish this would happen with Credit card, nothing but hassle from that side! but again that's another post!) but know nothing about Apex and also wonders if any of you can give me some feedback about them. He did give me their phone number and my debt reference number (didn't know I had one!) to quote to them when I call. He said this would move things along quicker, as I'll be able to re-arrange payments via the phone, as I might not get their letter for another week or so!! I self manage my DMP! Thanks guys, hope I have some feedback. Take care MM2

Me too! I've got a credit card, overdraft and loan amounting to 16k with them but so far they've frozen all interest and have defaulted me (which is better now than later) but I'm not expecting it to last forever given other peoples' experience :o

OK i spoke too soon, Halifax accepted my £11 a month to clear my overdraft under my self managed DMP, but due to their unarranged overdraft fees (£45 a month) my £11 now seems pointless. They agreed to stop fees, but i fear if I question it they will say I'm in an unarranged overdraft - which is actually because of their fees
So now my £2000 overdraft stands at £2115

Thanks for the replies earlier guys. I spoke to CCCS yesterday and they've emailed me the DMP for me to sign and attach evidence of earnings/debts etc. Hopefully this DMP will start next month.

As I mentioned before we set up a new bank account, but won't have a new account number/sort code until the end of the week, so for now all our money is still in our current accounts (in the overdrafts).

We both cancelled the direct debit payments for our loans to our banks, but they took them any way (thought they might). And another direct debit was cancelled for a loan from Everyday loans.

That loan payment isn't due out til Friday, but they phoned up today when they realised that we had cancelled the direct debit. I gave them my CCCS reference number, and told them we'd be in touch once we'd taken advice. They then started with all their c%*$ to scare me, but I said "I just told you I'm currently seeking advice to enable me to settle all of my debts, I have every intention of paying you what I owe but I will not be bullied into making a payment I cannot afford over the phone. I have explained I will be in touch and I am now ending this conversation". I then hung up. I felt quite proud of myself until I realised I'd missed the opportunity to point out that I am not yet behind on my payments.

I knew it was going to get difficult dealing with all of these creditors, I just thought I had at least another week to prepare myself for the onslaught.

The loan from Everyday Loans was without doubt the dumbest thing I've ever done (I wish I'd known about DMP's last September). We couldn't pay everyone as we were short by £80, and thought if we borrowed £500 we would have the £80 and settle a credit card with the rest. Interest would be a lot higher, but spaced out over more time so repayments would be lower.

Everday asked us over the phone what it was for and we told them, they asked when the £80 payment was needed and we told them. They THEN told us the earliest appointment they could do was the day before, but don't worry it'll be in your account the same day.
(like I said dumb dumb dumb).

So we went to this appointment and what a surprise they wouldn't give us £500, because thats not really helping us, we'd end up worse off. What they can do is lend us £3,180 to pay off 2 credit cards, the £80 we need, and an extra £100 to see us alright til payday. The monthly payments will be much lower than what we're paying on the cards etc, and some funny looking maths was spouted which I wasn't paying attention to as I was still trying to think of how to pay the £80 the next day as I didn't want an extra £3,000 loan. So in the end we took the £3,000 because as they were going on and on I couldn't think of another way to find £80.

You gotta give them credit, they know how to screw people over. We got £3,180 when we asked for £500. They got our signature on a contract for £151 a month for 36 months (thats higher than our combined credit card payments that were cleared). You can guess what happened to those credit card balances.

I kick myself everytime I think of that day.

If you're in financial difficulty (they accepted your DMP, so they accept you're in difficulty) then aren't you allowed to get you fees back? I think you are, and I'm pretty sure someone will be along soon to tell you how.

    Hi,

Having a bit of a down day today.

Received a very snotty letter from Barclays saying that they are allowed to phone us whenever they like as they think it's reasonable? Also someone has clipped my husbands wing mirror and its smashed the casing. So any money that was going to be left after paying our bills is going to be spent on that.

It feels like one small step forward and 5 giant leaps back!!!!! My head aches with it all and I just feel very flat today.

Wallowing in my own misery for a while..........
Shellshock  or Nik now the shock has subsided!!

    Hi

At least you are going forward now. I'd report them to the ombudsman though, the more complaints they have about this behaviour the better, disgraceful they prey on vulnerable people!

They aren't obliged, just seen as good practice. Worth a try though

    Good luck
