Hi Everyone, and..moreover, happy new year!!!
Heres a problem I've experienced since 2008. Perhaps someone has some kind advice.
The CCCS are brilliant..no doubt about that. However, one challenge in dealing 'through' them with my creditors, is that the CCCS takes my available monthly funds and, distributes these throughout my creditors. Ok.. but, some creditors, will not freeze interest and charges because they say, I am paying too much.. In other words.if I was paying a lesser amount, they would look on my circumstances differently and probably pass me on to a debt coll agency..
Am I right in thinking that, unless I take on the DMP myself, and away from the CCCS, theres nothing I can do about this? For example, I would love that the CCCS pay those creditors who have frozen charges more...and those who won;t less...?
Seems like I'm stuck here... I really don't want to leave the CCCS.. but, this is very frustrating and annoying...0 -

I share your frustration! Caught between two worlds it seems. As you say they seem to want to have you at absolute rock bottom before they will help, then Jo Public slags you off for not having taken action earlier, DOH!
As for as I know CCCS will only treat most providers equally except for when the bigger sharks like payday type loans are involved.
From posts I have people either put up with it, try to do F&F with the ones not playing ball or come off DMP and go down UE route.
Good luck whatever you decide and a very Happy New Year to all other DMPers.

Happy New Year Everyone and let's hope that it's a stress-free one!!
We have had some good news for a change! We had a review with CCCS and our payments have gone up by £13 per month but our debt free date has come down by 6 months!! Hooray!!
Hope that everyone is well

Just popping in to say Happy New Year to all on the DMP Support Thread:beer:
I'm almost at the end of what seemed like a never ending tunnel. I can honestly say this site and this thread (in the very early days) have helped me deal with my debts more than i could ever have imagined. At the start it feels like it will never end but beleive me it does get easier and starting a DMP was the single most important thing I have ever done.
Keep up the good work everyone and keep supporting each other - this thread is the best!!!

Hi - yes I know exactly what you mean - I am in the same boat especially as my debts are going down - in particular with some of the smaller ones I am paying a fair bit over minimum contractual payments which means they are simply refusing to negotiate. Not sure what's the best way of dealing with this - I guess option is to do the DMP yourself as CCCS simply won't contemplate jiggling the payments (and I do totally understand why - even though it's extremely frustrating in my individual case).
So...I am starting to think about going it alone. Must admit don't really relish it (with 12 preditors I have loved having the CCCS to rely on and to refer any calls etc back to) and have been very impressed with the CCCS, but as my DMP moves on (about 18 months to go now!) I too am worried about interest being reinstated and that DFD moving further and further away.
Does anyone have any experience of leaving the CCCS and running their DMP themselves? I'd be very grateful for any advice/thoughts.
Happy New Year to all!!!

H Fraggle...
You've hit the nail right on the head!!!
The CCCS have given me so much security and peace of mind, that to leave them now would scare the stuffing out of me !!
I did contemplate paying the odd amount to the creditors who were charging me higher interest , but, two things make me feel wobbly about that route. First, the CCCS will sooner or later calculate what I'm doing and not be chuffed. I believe they can refuse to continue to act for you if you mess about with paying your creditors. Secondly.. if you do manage to find the odd morsel to throw at a creditor..that creditor must wonder where this is coming from and, ask for a revised financial statement...
I think the only plan...is to save what I can..and then, when the time comes offer a reduced amount to clear the whole debt to a specific creditor or, creditors. I would probably use the..' A family member has offered to help reason'...
Its a real mine field isn't it?...0 -

It's not the CCCS who'll be miffed but the other creditors! What if the ones playing ball found out and started adding interest themselves? Do you not think that'd be unfair on the ones who've been good to you?
If it helps, PayPlan work out their payments differently, so that may affect how much is paid to each creditor.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

One person I spoke to at the CCCS did suggest doing exactly that (I don't know if they were meant to or not, but...) i.e. saving up myself outside of the DMP as far as possible and then making F&Fs to couple of the smaller debts. They even suggested they could reduce my payment one month to enable me to pay off a couple of these smaller ones (not really too sure how they could justify that though to the other creditors??!).
Like you think I'm going to hang fire for now - there's a small chance I'll be getting a pay rise in the near future (well - am going to ask for one anyway as it's about time and I've been working all hours god sends!) and if that happens I think I'll squirrel it away to try and throw at some of my smaller debts to get rid of them. I know that's not playing fair (i.e. not distributing any extra money across them all) but in this game I think you need to look after yourself!
Let me know how you get on - and I'll keep you posted as and when that day arrives (of course am still keeping my fingers crossed for a lottery win too - imagine being able to pay off all your debts and then say stuff you to all the banks etc who now wanted a piece of your millions - my favourite daydream these days!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)0 -
Have just done my CCCS review with a lovely lady... took 15 minutes, and nothing has changed, which is good. Also told her about the Redetermination hearing that I have on 17th:eek: and she talked me through what was likely to happen, so I feel much better about it
Hope you are all well...?

That's good news Sarah.
Good luck to all this week. Hope the DMPs are slowly but surely crawling along on this depressing week back at work. Will soon be Spring!
