You are closer to the truth than you think, Auntie Twitty!!
I had a rotten fluey cold that went on for about 2 weeks, and when I finally made an effort to brighten myself up to go to a friends house for dinner, I came down the stairs in (what I thought was a glamorous evening top in black) and my OH said, "Oh my God, you look about 100!".
    I rest your case!

  • I think its the usual case of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

We all go through it at the start. some fall lucky and have relatively few problems, and others seem to be hassled for ages.

I seem to be in the former group. I was paying minimums for a couple of years then went straight into a DMP with PayPlan 2 months ago.

In total we (its a joint DMP with my OH) have had the following.
Next have rang once and written once (then accepted DMP) MNBA have written once, requesting i ring them, which i did then they stopped interested and charges, TSB have rang once, and then wrot to say they will not stop charges and interest but would accept reduced payments.

The remaining 6 creditors have all rolled over and played ball with us.

Just keep plugging away and it'll all settle down eventually. Just make sure that you have the DMP reference number to hand when they ring and don't be bullied by their calls.

Hi, Chilli, good advice once again, we have had similar experiences with both Next and MBNA, OH is really pleased with how quickly MBNA came on board. I wonder if Next are having a problem (sending out credit agreements, etc) because when I was first a customer of theirs, they automatically set up a credit a/c when all you wanted was to buy something! We have discussed this before, and following advice here, I would never return a signed agreement to them, just in case!

So glad you're feeling better now Morticia!
One of the great things about this DMP thread? We are all committed to working hard and clearing our debts. Often it's ruddy hard work with a bucketload of worry thrown in, but a wonderful sense of humour (in all the stresses) always come out! :)
So preserving the sense of the ridiculous, I present a little ditty for all those suffering from the snow/cold/bugs/worries about the future ;)

If you have a nose that glows
In this time of the big froze
Take yourself to bed and doze!

    Creditors may want mores
But what is left is yours-
The name is not Santa Claus!

So of you and yours take care
    In all the frantic prepare
Christmas time we soon will share! :xmassmile

  • time for another update!

OH received a letter from MBNA today stating that the offer CCCS has put to them is not sufficient for them to accept OH onto a formal repayment programme but they will accept the payments.

The letter also states that they will waiver future late and over limit fees and interest charges....confused.com!!

Then the letter goes on to say about if a default is registered the account may get passed to a third party for further action, blah blah blah.

Is this a good letter do you think guys? Is it worth me sending a copy to CCCS?

    thanks JC x

Reading between the lines, it sounds as though you're not coughing up as much as they'd like for their 'formal repayment programme,' (that is they would like to get much more out of you!)
However, by entering into a DMP you are showing your willingness to make the largest regular payment you are able, so if that's the best you've got then they will accept it.
It looks to me like they've accepted your DMP, but be prepared to be defaulted on the account (you are not keeeping up your contractual payments) and the account may well be passed on to a DCA.
Have no personal experience with MBNA, but others will maybe be able to advise you.
Whatever letter you receive from any creditor though, always maintain your payments through CCCS. Especially important at the start, that the money although reduced, keeps on coming on a regular basis!

that doesnt make me feel better:( I wouldnt mind but CCCS are offering MBNA £179 a month, I know the debt is £12,000 but I didnt think that offer was that bad!

Maybe if they passed the account to a DCA that might be better, will have to wait and see!

  • Morning all, does anyone know if I will experience difficulty in changing utility providers now I am on a dmp? do utility providers do credit checks?

I am currently in credit with both gas and elec with british gas, but am paying an astronomical amount monthly for my gas - £100.
I submit meter readings online monthly. I am hand making curtains in an attempt to draught proof this old house, and given the current inclement weather and the fact that it is due to continue, cant see how I can reduce consumption.
    all help greatly appreciated

I think you will be ok. The safe fail is that you have a providor so if they say no you still have one.

I tried the u switch site to do a comparison. Personally I think you should evaluate a full years usage as some are cheaper for heavier or lighter use etc. I called my energy supplier to check on my usage as it was a little confusing as some months were estimate, some real, some refunds etc. Straight away they challenged me as to whether I was thinking of leaving. I said I'm just looking at options right now. Bingo, within minutes they had me set up with a new plan that saved me £200 a year in one phone call. You just have to try it. Good luck

  • Hi,
Received my first statement from Opus...they have accepted the plan and reduced interest to .518 % per month....ok

    Halifax...frozen all charges....ok

MBNA reduced interest to .5% per month,...ok

Just leaves Natwest still charging full interest on loan and o/d...not ok.
