Payback.
Having been trying to get a Leccy refund as I'm £250 in credit, I suddenly realised I'd got my meter readings mixed up (I'm on Economy 7), so the Leccy company have backdated the correct readings, and I'm waiting for my £350 cheque, which I hope will arrive before christmas.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Love it Twitty.:)
Hope you don't mind me copying a post I put on the paddle thread yesterday as trying to get some more advice and opinions from you knowlegeable lot.
Here it is -
Hi everyone we need some advice please.
Inspired by Ellie I told OH to ring Triton today and find out what was going on as we had heard about the OD but not the Loan.
Anyway apparently they have combined the two and frozen interest which is absolutley fantastic. Payplan hadn't heard about this so OH asked them to write to them to confirm this. OH said they were great on the phone.
Out of the blue they offered him a f&f which is not much more than half of what we owe them (OD & loan combined). We can't believe it although payplan said this does happen quite often?
The thought of saving nearly £14000 is amazing although obviously we don't have that money!
The dilemna is that there is an outside possibility of borrowing it from a relative although it would be diffficult to ask.
Payplan said if we did that and paid the relative back at the same rate as we are paying the loan & OD it would stillshow as an outgoing on our DMP although not to Nat West.
We have two other creditors. The biggest has lumped all the interest on anyway so we are paying them nearly the full amount each month anyway. BUT they are also owned by Nat West so if we accepted the f&f would they then start hounding us?
The other is £4000 and have stopped interest but not sure what they would think about it.
Sorry to sound confused but this has taken us by surprise. I am ecstatic that they have said they have stopped interest but am acutely aware that that could change in the future and as house owners (albeit with no equity)this could have greater implications which is why the f&f sounds so tempting.
Would not relish asking the relative though and it is certainly not the case that we could keep going back to them.:o
Please can I have all your wordly opinions on this?
Many thanks in advanceXDMP mutual support member 3970 -
F&Fs are quite common, but PP & CCCS take a dim view of them as they could be viewed as you showing preference towards a creditor. It should also be noted that some creditors (and almost certainly all DCAs) allow you to ask for a F&F at any time, it's not like a one-off offer.
Can't offer much else I'm afraid!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Thanks Ian
Payplan said to OH that the other creditors might see it that way but she could understand the draw. As i said the main other creditor is getting all but £20 a month of what they were getting before and haven't passed it to a dca. The cc of £4000 may be different though
We are wondering about the possibility of them reinstating the interest/ccj/co at a later date or is that unlikely because they have already offered this f&f.
Its thrown a spanner in the works tbh as had no idea f&f would be offered around at around 50% at this early stage. The interest being stopped was the news we were hoping for so very very pleased and grateful about that.DMP mutual support member 3970 -

I have just received a letter from Opus who have taken over the Citibank account. They have asked me to clear the arrears on my account (no amount specified, in letter or on my last citibank statement). Has anyone else had one of these? I had naively assumed that the DMP would carry over, but do I need to start again?LBM July 2009DMP Start 1 September 2009DMP Support Number 3350

Well presuming Opus are a DCA, then they will try and collect the debt from you, that's how they make their money.
However you may just need to speak to them to explain the situation, as they may not necessarily know about the DMP. I think your DMP company will need to know too.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Has anyone ever had to miss a payment to CCCS? had a bit of a emergency here over the last few days which has left me totally skint. I know people have had to miss payments before and I was just wondering what happens, do you still make a smaller payment to CCCS? I'll be ringing them tomorrow but have got myself all worked up over things here.0
