  • Well it looks like you were right re the left hand right hand thing as we got a letter today saying that no action will be taken provided we carry on paying the agreed amount!

However they WILL NOT stop interest. This kinda defeats the object as the interest alone is £103 more than our payment - so we will just get deeper and deeper and deeper in with the TSB.

Any nuggets of advise to offer a very cold and wet chilli?
    LBM = 10/10/10
    Debt at [STRIKE]14/10/10 = £56936.28[/STRIKE] --- 17/04/12 = £49673.01

  • But on a brighter note, one of our 'pending' (ie undecided) creditors - barclays has now accepted the offer.

We also had various emails from next today and the upshot is they will hold off on the collection activity and wait for the PP paperwork which they say they have not received so i will get PP to resend it.

  • Welcome Bathan, agree with Twitty's comments

Chilli, I know it's frustrating but most DMPs take 3 to 6 months to settle down.

    Brrrrr it's cold!

Welcome Bathan. Guilt will quickly be replaced by relief.
I don't feel guilty any more and as has been said this forum is whats got me through the first few months. Loads of support and humour to be had here and I just love being back in control again.
AS you say just wish we'd done it ages ago.:)

Woohoo!! I've just had my first letter from a creditor following the DMP being set up. MBNA have sent quite a nice letter saying that the offer is not enough to accept me onto a formal repayment programme but they will waive any charges and interest on the account. I will still get a default on this at some point but at least the payments will go towards clearing the debt down now and the £180 interest and £50 charges per month will stop!! I just hope the rest of the creditors are as nice!!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they sent me the same letter.... then a CCJ! Hope you don't have the same luck!

    Hello everyone,

Well here goes, complete newbie on board, and can quite easily say I've never ever ever been so down and stressed in my entire life. My world has continued to crash around my ears as each month of 2010 has gone by, and I have finally hit rock bottom (goodness I hope so anyway!)
Anyway, I've filled in all of the CCCS forms, copied all the CC statements etc. and today received my new bank account details. We've already sent token payments to all our creditors along with the letter CCCS tell you to send to tell them that you're in difficulties. I've cancelled all direct debits apart from the bank (creditor - loan and OD's). Now with new account in play and salary due to go in on 15th I can set up all the new DD's.
I've read so many diaries on here over the past week, and wondered if I did the same , it just might help me get my life back on track again.
It feels like a bit of a timebomb situation at the moment, not knowing but wondering what is next.......... watch this space I guess they say xx
  • Hi Newbeg.

Welcome to the thread. Well done on taking the fist and crucial step. It will get easier. The next few weeks may be stormy but even then has to be a better situation than the alternative. Do come shout scream and laugh with us. As you say there's plenty of support and expertise around. They can't have what you don't have. Speak to them if you want to. Don't if you don't. Just be polite, telephone or letter, quote your CCCS letter and ask them to make contact as they are acting on your behalf.

What a great start you will have in 2011 knowing that your balances will soon be coming down and you will be well on your way to freedom, emotionally and physically.

Let us know how you get on

  • I keep getting emails letting me know something is happening on friday this week...............?

    Chilli :-)
I noticed that too, email all wrapped up in a Christmas Bow! I really hope it's not some rubbish they are selling...
Mind you if it is a message from Santa, saying we have all been good this year, and are getting a months' payment holiday that would be brilliant!! (I know, wishful thinking):(

    At least it's Friday!

  • Hi everyone,

We are experiencing problems with Mercers at the moment and they are threatening us with allsorts and we are not sure what we should do.

We are into month 4 of our DMP and most CC companies have accepted reduced payments but my OH owes Barclaycard approx 6k and we have been making reduced payments through the CCCS but they continue to ring everyday up to 18 times!

I have written to them to ask that everything is done in writing and OH has not answered the phone to them but they have totally ignored this and are threatening to send debt collectors to the house:eek:

I have explained that we are on a DMP and given them our reference number and the CCCS has re-sent our budget to them but this has not made any difference. Their letters sound as though we haven't made any payments and they are even offering pay one, get one free or pay two and get two free??

I'm even more confused than ever now after speaking to CCCS - they have advised us to speak to Mercers after I explained about the 18 calls in one day? They said that it might not be harrassment but they may just need something from us... yes, money that we haven't got. Are these calls considered harassment even though OH is not answering them?

I have explained to CCCS about the letters that we have sent to ask that everything be put in writing but was told that we should speak to them.

I then mentioned the debt collector that they are threatening to send round and was told that this may happen to discuss payment. When I said that I thought that they couldn't send anyone without invitation, she replied that they can send someone around to discuss payment

I'm really unsure what we should do next and any advice would be appreciated

    Ellie xx
