    Group Hug!!! :grouphug:

Ellie, I consider every day what the alternative would have been (and it's something anyone thinking about a DMP needs to consider). I didn't want to be paying off my debt for the rest of my life.

  • As Twitty says, I think we all started with long DFDs (I think mine was 20 years at the start!), but I still thought it was better than being stuck in the rut of minimum payments.

    xx

The enormity of our situation has been lying heavy on me over the last couple of days and I was beginning to get quite depressed about the length of time it will take us to pay back what we owe, which is around 12 years. Then I saw this comment from Ian and it has reminded me exactly what the alternative is!

Thank you Ian, you've just brightened my day

    Ellie xx[/QUOTE]

DMPs aren't written in stone - think of it more as a Yo-Yo on a piece of elastic :)
Sometimes they lengthen for a while, but more often they shorten.
Mine was a horrendous 20 some similar to Ian's. However, with slight increases in payments, and interest stopped by 2 of my 3 creditors it dropped to 17 and now is currently 14 years.
And I'm hoping for better in the future!

Seems like a long time till payday this month and done no Christmas shopping:eek:
Also all three of mine have birthdays between now and Christmas which isn't helping. Weather bl***y miserable, it hasn't even got light here today! Moan moan moan.....

BUT You lovely lot never fail to cheer me up so joining in the hugs:grouphug: And whatever happens as Ian says its SO much better than being stuck in our old ruts of minimum payments. I keep thinking of the thousands behind us that just haven't had their LBMoment yet.

We received our energy reading thingy from EOn this week which kept the family amused last night and was also a wake up call to how much each appliance costs.

SO Just thought I'd also add that if there's any spelling mistakes in this its because I am typing in the dark. :D

I do indeed feel better for that, Thanks!
Haven't been around for a while, got the chance of a bit of extra work. It has taken a little of 'The Fear' of Xmas looming away, so I'm grateful.
Hope everyone is well, I read all the posts when I can.
WE ARE ALL DOING VERY WELL!!!!:T

    Morning
Feel as if i just want to hide and it will all go away!
Last week i felt that a DMP was the way to go but having had time to think about it over the weekend i am starting to panic but other than selling the house don't really have any other options.

OH is going to try and speak to his HR today as one of our CC's is with John Lewis partnership card so not sure how that will pan out.
We are still waiting on a new bank account OH has to take his id in today so if we are accepted not sure how long it will take to set up,(am starting to panic a bit as don't want lloyds to get a whiff that there is a problem as we have a CC and overdraft with them)and then we have the problem of getting wages etc going in and DD's going out of new bank acc:eek:
Have got to make some token payments this week should i send them with a letter?

And then have to wait for the dreaded phone calls,(have thought about changing my number as don't want kid's to pick up but i am with talk talk and they won't change unless you are having nuisance calls and have notified the police.)

All this and the dreaded xmas looming can't even think about it.

Have got all my bit's and bob's ready to send to CCCS and am just waiting to see what happens with HR.

How the hell have i manged to get myself into 38k of debt as we have nothing to show for it:(

Sorry for waffling on but my head is all over the place today have been trying to put on a front for OH and the kids but deep down i am really scared
