    Hi Sickasachip
Thanks for your reply, did you wait untill your new bank account was opened before making token payments?
Am worried that it will take a while to get bank account up and running and that if lloyds get a whiff of a problem they may just take it from our account!

You really need to get the bank account up and running asap and get the wages and dds transferred over.

I can't actually remember when I made the token payments, but I made them from the old account, and though I had an Abbey CC (who my bank account was with), it was through MBNA, so they didn't offset.

At the end of the day, if you have a CC with your bank, they will take the money out of the account regardless, all that really matters is that they do it after you've taken your wages out!

I'm confusing myself here, so if you haven't a clue about what I just said, just let me know!

And with regards token payments, only send £1 or £2 to each creditor. I used the address on the back of statements (tho everything is online now, isn't it?). Send by cheque or postal order.

  • Just in the process of setting up a dmp. But waited until the new account was set up before i did anything with token payments hold action letters etc. Owe about £32000. however I want to say that the advice and the feeling of mutual support on this site has helped me enormously. I just keep telling myself the government is in debt, the banks werent much better, I am not the only one with this problem :D

Very true - I wonder if they set up a DMP with the Govt? :D
    LBM = 10/10/10
    Debt at [STRIKE]14/10/10 = £56936.28[/STRIKE] --- 17/04/12 = £49673.01

    Love the attitude! :D
Welcome to you and all newbies. and those just settling in to your DMPs. It will all start to feel more comfortable soon, and the sense of relief that you're actually doing something to take control of your life again will set in. :)
And no matter how long you've been on your DMP, we all need support and help sometimes, so I echo your thanks to the good folk on this site. :A

Fabulous! And how much do you owe Britannia???
'£118,360,000 is the interest the Government has to pay each day on the UKs net debt of £952 bn. This is estimated to rise to £182m a day in 2015-16'
So will we find the Queen shopping in Oxfam?, Mrs Cameron rootling through the reduced section at Tesco?, Mr Clegg in the pound shop? - a goverment DMP - priceless! :rotfl:

  • Hi All

Not been on for ages so thought I would update you lovely people. DMP starts officially on the 1st Dec thats when the 1st payment goes to CCCS. Our Lloyds loan is our main debt and we have had a letter from them saying they except our offer for 6 months then it will be reviewed again but to be honest its gonna be reviewed again in Jan/Feb cos of my maternity leave starting so will have to wait and see. All our debt is with Lloyds but at the min all CC's are upto date so no doubt we will hear from them in Dec. OH gets paid next week and its nice to see we still have some money in our account and its been my little girls birthday so we've brought her presents but also we've got her main Xmas present as well and we still have money!!! I just hope we can carry this on as I dont dread looking at the acc anymore we've also been selling stuff on Ebay and got a little Xmas fund in Paypal going so hopefully things are looking up for us. Thats all my money news, lol.

Baby news now, lol. Im now 31 weeks and Dr has signed me off for 2 weeks as I have a bad back and Ive been told to rest they have arranged a physio appt for next week so heres hoping that helps as at the min Im knackered as I cant sleep due to the cramp but hey ho cant have everything, lol. Sorry to have waffled and hello to all the new posters without the help and advice from this thread then I would still be in denial xxx

    Morning all
Well woke this morning and am feeling a little more optimistic and kind of excited if that makes sense.
After months of umming and ahhrring what to do i feel that the decision to go with a DMP has lifted a weight of our shoulders (although i know it is going to be a very bumpy road!!).
I can't physically do anything yet as still waiting on new bank account(wish i had gone into branch now rather than do it online) but i really need everything in place by the end of the month as don't want llyods getting a whiff of a problem and their next cc payment is due on the 29th.
I am going to be sending token payments next week to cap one and next:eek: .
My head is spinning at the mo with questions but i am going to spend the weekend going through my so called filing system (everything shoved in a cupboard!!) and sort out what's what!
Have got to go out today and buy ink for printer as i have to print off the bits and bobs for CCCS.
Anyway am glad i found this thread as not sure i could go it alone and the mutual support is amazing but spect you will get fed up with me after a bit lol.
