  • Morning all and welcome to all the newbies

    Keep the positivity coming

  • Good morning all, feeling a lot more positive today, plucked up the courage to ring LTSB who orignally rejected the terms of my DMP, but have now agreed to it. They said they are now going to default me, er like that matters! I shant be seeking any further credit any time soon. Even after seeing the state of my finances they still had the nerve to ask me to increase my payments!
Started my new job this week, its only part time so a real tightening of the belt will need to take place again. Scouting around for a few extra hours a week. Have signed up to do some surveys as a short term measure. Re-advertising my spare room in the hope of a lodger (really will have to check out the fly lady cleaning/decluttering tips again).
Hoping to hear whether I have been accepted onto the uni course I have applied for.
All I need to do now is stop my ex from bothering me.

The DMP route is often rocky and the wheels feel as though they are going to fall off, just wish I had done it years ago.
Thanks to all for the tips and positive messages.
    Have a good day y'all

    Hi Sickasachip
Thanks for your reply, did you wait untill your new bank account was opened before making token payments?
Am worried that it will take a while to get bank account up and running and that if lloyds get a whiff of a problem they may just take it from our account!

Yes. We were scared this would happen too. So we spent a few days waiting for the new account details to come through and then frantically transferred the DD and SOs we need, cancelled the others and sent the first of the CCCS letters off with postal orders.

Another account we opened was an online PO savers things, just a basic account which we've set up attached to our new current account. We have done a DD into it of £5 per month and any xmas ££ we get we'll be putting in their as a sort of 'crisis' fund.

The other thing you can do in this limbo stage is to get ready for the next bit of sending letters / payments etc. If you look at my other posts, I told someone else about the basic spreadsheet/chart I set up - this has saved so much time.

    >>>This is what I did>>>

Try and gather all your financial stuff together. Ours could get complicated as it's for myself and my partner and we have 20 creditors between us so I've set up a basic spreadsheet of amount owed, creditor contact details (to save looking them up if we need them), date of 1st DMP (CCCS) letter sent out, when postal order sent, 2nd letter sent out, contact back from creditor (date and basic details etc). Also it means that as agreements are made with them I can add more columns and note it down!

It also meant that as soon as I got the template details from CCCS I could immediately fill in all the details on each and send off without delay!

(this may be a bit OTT, but it's helping me feel in control of everything and saves wading through bills etc each time I need some info).

    >>>>

Well worth the effort in my opinion.

Have spoken to CCCS today (How nice are they) anyway i need to send everything to them asap ,but they will not put anything in place untill our income safe in new bank acc.
Another problem we have is that one of the CC's Partnership card (john lewis) my OH works for them so he will have to speak to his HR not sure how that will go as he is quite shy and not the best at communicating as it is!
Anyway if it is a problem CCCS have said that they can deal with it differently.
Think i'm being a bit paranoid as every time phone rings i panic and i haven't even told anyone yet!
  • Ok I'm confused...

I shouldn't be really since I've been doing DMP for 6 months now. :o

    But anyway,

I've got my Llloyds TSB loan account who have agreed to a reduced payment, which is ok, but my main concern is my Lloyds TSB overdraft which is £5250 overdrawn, now every month I'm being charged huge amounts of interest and my DMP payment is just getting swallowed up but on the plus side I'm not going over my limit, so as you can see the bank account is in a state of limbo... It will always be like this...

I wished I'd just had a CCJ to set everything in stone!

Can anyone else cast any light on the matter?

Also how do I find out which companies have agreed to the plan or not?

Careful what you wish for! - I have just been through this and it is no way a smooth road and may not always go the way you want.

Other than that you could ask for the bank to look again at interest and charges - have they frozen the account?
  • Well i have finally decided that I cannot carry doing our own dmp. barclaycard have started to charge interest again as have scalifax. The only ones who have kept to their word are mbna and egg!

We are paying out £700 a month:eek: as I have been trying to get things paid off quicker and trying to keep everyone happy and its not working. we barely have any money left over at the end of the month.

My wages have dropped as well which isnt helping, I have sat here today in tears wondering where it all went wrong and I feel such a failure.

As you can see from my sig our debt is awful and I was hoping to get it cleared in about 8 years but I dont think thats going to happen now. I just want piece of mind.....I am soo stressed at the moment and unfortunately I am having to deal with everything as OH suffers from stress, depression and others things which I dont want to mention right now. If anyone has read my diary you will see that quite often I have thought about ending it all, sad isnt it?? Its only my DD thats keeping me going really.

I have spoken to payplan in the past and they have sent me forms to fill in as I couldnt face talking to them over the phone at the time but I now cant find the email:(

I could really do with some support right now guys, so can I join this thread pls?

    thanks
LBM: April 2009 - honest debt figure: Secured: £0.00!! (paid back april 2017) unsecured: £53117.48 (roughly) back with CCCS starting again:(
  • Jasperconran try to focus on the here and now rather than worrying about how long it's going to take to clear. You need to live a less stressed and miserable existence now and by going through someone like CCCS or Payplan you can get a newly tailored DMP that will better suit your needs.

We've just started out on this journey but the help and conversations I've had with CCCS and the support that is here has made me feel more normal again and less of an idiot for getting myself into so much debt.

Please recontact Payplan or CCCS and simply ask for the forms again - it doesn't matter that you've lost them, you're not going to be told off. Start making little steps forward today.

    Best of luck.

    Welcome Jasper

    I agree with sick as

Have you considered just doing the CCCS debtremedy online. I did this and never even had to speak to someone, just did it all online although it was not immediately obvious you could do this. I was fully set up in a matter of days, was a huge releif to see it taking steps in the right direction. I understand payplan and CCCS have different budgetaty allowances. I can speak for the CCCS one and say that it does allow you to see your examples anonymously and that may help you to make your decision.

Good luck with it. Shout up if you need help and let us know how you get on
