  • JasperConran,

Hugs, you're not alone, I'd try the online CCCS plan and that way you should have something in place shortly, it's horrid having debt but we're all in this together and at the end of the day it is only money, you are worth a lot more than a few pieces of silver...x
  • Just dropping by to say Hi to everyone and Welcome! to all the newbies:)

We are just plodding along at the moment still being harassed by Mercers but by letters now instead of the phone! I've spoken to CCCS who are going to contact them with our SOA and try and get the interest frozen as they are applying interest, late payment charges and over limit charges:eek: The balance is increasing by hundreds but everyone else appears to have frozen the interest so that's a bonus.

We are now approaching month 4 and I am still glad that we took the decision to go onto a DMP - I certainly do not feel as stressed or depressed as I was in the beginning and wish that we had taken the decision long before we did.

I've not had much chance to post recently as I have been so busy with my new job which has taken my mind off all things to do with debt:o

    Good Luck to everyone

Well i have finally decided that I cannot carry doing our own dmp. barclaycard have started to charge interest again as have scalifax. The only ones who have kept to their word are mbna and egg!

We are paying out £700 a month:eek: as I have been trying to get things paid off quicker and trying to keep everyone happy and its not working. we barely have any money left over at the end of the month.

My wages have dropped as well which isnt helping, I have sat here today in tears wondering where it all went wrong and I feel such a failure.

As you can see from my sig our debt is awful and I was hoping to get it cleared in about 8 years but I dont think thats going to happen now. I just want piece of mind.....I am soo stressed at the moment and unfortunately I am having to deal with everything as OH suffers from stress, depression and others things which I dont want to mention right now. If anyone has read my diary you will see that quite often I have thought about ending it all, sad isnt it?? Its only my DD thats keeping me going really.

I have spoken to payplan in the past and they have sent me forms to fill in as I couldnt face talking to them over the phone at the time but I now cant find the email:(

I could really do with some support right now guys, so can I join this thread pls?

    thanks

Firstly you are NOT a failure. You've been trying your best, but like lots of things in life, it hasn't worked out as you've hoped.
It very much sounds as though you have underestimated a realistic 'living' budget.
As others have so wisely said, try the CCCS on-line calculator, or talk to them or Payplan etc. They are brilliant at helping you include all your living costs and balancing them realisticaly with your income.
And please don't stress about the length of your DMP (easier said than done I know - I was getting my knickers in a twist about my 14 year one a while ago! :o)
Health comes above money, and you need to care for yourself in all this.
If you've lost the addresses try these:

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/

We're all for you, so stay with us through the thick and thin :)

    'Twitty'

    P.S - Sold one of your handbags on E-Bay last week-thanks ;)

    Ok I'm confused...

I shouldn't be really since I've been doing DMP for 6 months now. :o

    But anyway,

I've got my Llloyds TSB loan account who have agreed to a reduced payment, which is ok, but my main concern is my Lloyds TSB overdraft which is £5250 overdrawn, now every month I'm being charged huge amounts of interest and my DMP payment is just getting swallowed up but on the plus side I'm not going over my limit, so as you can see the bank account is in a state of limbo... It will always be like this...

I wished I'd just had a CCJ to set everything in stone!

Can anyone else cast any light on the matter?

Also how do I find out which companies have agreed to the plan or not?

The banks tend to take ages to stop interest and charges, probably around 6 or 7 months! Just keep asking to them to reconsider, and point out to them your situation.

I think you were on this thread a while ago, so in my eyes you haven't left. Just come and sit closer to the fire with us lot, don't feel alone!

Wanting to pay it off quicker to leave you skint is bound to make you miserable, and probably others around you, so do get in touch with PP or CCCS who will take that huge weight off your shoulders.

As Twitty says, I think we all started with long DFDs (I think mine was 20 years at the start!), but I still thought it was better than being stuck in the rut of minimum payments.

Please keep in touch, and stick in there.

    Much love to you all,

    Ian

We have a similar problem in that Nat West O/D have sent us a statement today and are charging a massive £120 plus a month and we are paying that account less than £50!!!
We are nearly 4 months in and will ring payplan Monday but Folks on here have said that Nat West have their own procedure so we probably just have to ride it out for a couple of months more. (Well I hope its not much longer anyway)

Jasperconran I can't add to what others have said. Only to reiterate that at this moment just focus on sorting the DMP out at a level you can live with right now. That might mean a DF Date thats further off than you hoped but so be it and who knows in the future you may be able to bring that down again but one day at a time.
    Good Luck

Well it's been a while since I last posted on here and was sinking into the depths of depression inthe meantime. I got declined for a natwest step account and then for a lloyds cash account but have finally been accepted for a coop cashminder account! Yay!!! So I'm going to be able to send off the dd mandate to CCCS and should make my first payment in December.

Just the small matter of keeping to the rest of the budget now in the run up to Xmas and babys arrival. OH basically accused me of stealing money out of his wages because he can't see where we can have spent it all and so I think we might go back to having separate accounts again. We've at least agreed that he will draw out cash when he gets paid and that is his budget for fuel, fags etc an when it's gone it's gone so I don't have to feel bad about saying no when he asks fot more money. Fingers crossed it will work!

Hope everyone is well. Take care xx

The enormity of our situation has been lying heavy on me over the last couple of days and I was beginning to get quite depressed about the length of time it will take us to pay back what we owe, which is around 12 years. Then I saw this comment from Ian and it has reminded me exactly what the alternative is!

Thank you Ian, you've just brightened my day

Morning ladies, sorry you've been feeling down. I don't think Xmas looming helps. I'd bet (if I could afford to) that it may be because most of us are the sort that normally sort others out before ourselves, possibly part of the reason why we are here in conjunction with extortionate interest rates and the odd dabble ourselves.

I know it can be tough but together we will get there. Sharing thriftiness, humour, support and information. The money I do spend I now enjoy exercising choice whether that's supermarket, next treat or dreaming of life post DMP. :)

As Ellie quite rightly says.............. the alternative? No way thank you! No nah never again.

Time we had dodgy group hug me thinks, not had so many of them lately.:grouphug:

Best wishes and positive thought to everyone those contributing and those hiding behind the curtains. Come join, strength in unity.

  • Thanks HH! Group hugs all round:grouphug:
