Hi all - haven't been on here much lately, but still been working away at clearing some of the debt. Pleased to report that we have recently been advised by Santander that they are refunding our PPI as we requested on our loan, which will pay off the loan and still leave some left over to apply towards another debt! Woohoo! Another one down!
That is brilliant, Triggles! Just read your post (am working backwards as usual!) You always see in the adverts about people getting money back, but it's not until you hear about it from someone you know that you can believe it happens?
BTW, What's with the Christmas tree, we haven't even had Halloween yet! Last year, just started on a DMP, I bought lots of sweets for the "Trick or Treaters". Not a single one turned up. I think they must have found out we were on that DMP, and thought, "Miserable gets, we won't get anything off them!!"
Keep at it, I dream of leftovers to pay off more debt, well done!:T

Morning folks
On the up side has anyone tried thinking about life after DMP and having plans? I've been twiddling with the mortgage calculator on this site. If once my DMP is paid I then overpay the mortgage by the amount I have been investing in the DMP I can pay my mortgage off a whacking 13 years ahead of schedule. How's that for a motivator folks, go try it!

Here's a funny story that won't make you laugh.
I had a phonecall from Link Financial today saying that they'd received a smaller amount this month than the amount on the Financial Statement (I've just increased my payments to all creditors).
On looking on Justabank (PayPlan) turns out that they'd paid all creditors a lesser amount to the tune of £10 in total. Not a huge amount, but when you're in a precarious position, anything like that will upset the applecart.
Now obviously this was a data entry problem that PP are rectifying now, and I still like the fact that they make the payments for me, but at the end of the day I begin to wander that I may as well do the DMP on my own!
For the newbies please don't be concerned as PP and CCCS do a sterling job, and I'm sure this is a one-off occurance. I also want to point out that if Link hadn't phoned me (or I hadn't answered it) it would have taken a lot longer for me to discover the error, peeing off my creditors in the process...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi, have also been checking out these forums for a while and have found them useful and very supportive so thanks to all involved! My wife and I had our LBM in January of this year when we realised enough was enough and that we could not carry on living off credit every month once all our earnings had gone on paying back credit! I nearly ended up with a private firm who charge for their "services" but thankfully found out about PP on this site and got started on sorting out our mess. First payment went out in Feb and so far so good, some creditors have been great (MBNA, BarclayCard), others not so (Halifax, HSBC and Next). We owed nearly £46,00  but this will drop below £40,00  when our Oct payment comes out and I am quite pleased that the 4 will change to a 3 at the beginning of that number of which I have become obsessed with! I k now there is a long way to go but seems like a milestone. Current DFD is 1/10/16 but am hoping to shave a least a year off this if not more.
Anyway good luck to all and thanks for the advice!
Cheers Wanna B :beer:0 -
Welcome WBDFF. We also nearly ended up with a fee paying company. OH googled CAB and one came up and we didn't know better. Luckily I found this forum so went with Pay plan. Early days with us but already life is so much better.
Not quite looking a life beyond DMP. If we can get Nat West on board I might let my mind wander but still obsessed with possibility of charging orders and ccj's.DMP mutual support member 3970 -

Hi Loubylou, thanks for the welcome! Its so strange as we moved to Natwest and they could not be more helpful but have read the horror stories of how they have treated people who have banked with them for most of their adult life but show no mercy when they get into trouble!
We have a similar problem with HSBC having both banked with them since teenagers, when we approached them with our situation they did not want to know. They have done nothing with our 3 accounts as yet but all of a sudden have defaulted us on a loan and a CC whilst giving us the good old scare tactics of CCJs etc! I am hoping to get past onto DC as they appear to be easier to deal with?
Once again we will get there!!

Yes I have heard the same horror stories. They defaulted us last week (loan & OD). The staff at my telephone banking branch were actually very helpfull recently helping me get my name off my mum's account but I know it will be a different story from now on. I just hate the not knowing. And yes we'd been with them for 30 years and OH who's so trusting thinks they'll take that into account but I know differently.DMP mutual support member 3970

Oops......and a bit upskittlingespecially as your payments increased.
As to upsetting the applecart and being in a precarious position, I know in a recent post I said something about ‘being dependent on your creditors to re-assess where you stand’. Your mistake or not, it left you vulnerable.
Maybe the time is right to contemplate running your own DMP? Know you are brave and upfront in phoning your creditors. Would it ease your mind to hold control now yourself?
Might be worth thinking over.

After DMP I'm going to change my name by deed poll to Rooney and earn £250,000 a week :rotfl:
13 years off a mortgage is a mind-blowing prospect. Go for it kiddo!

Hi and welcome!
Loyalty counts for nought unfortunately
Also you will find creditors can be toothsome sharks with some, but cuddly kittens with others. Why? -who knows? The direction of the wind maybe, whether it's a full moon??? :rotfl:
A default and a DCA is often better news (hah - bet you never thought in all your loyal years that this could be good!) Oftentimes interest will be stopped.
Read all letters carefully and file all away safely.
Hope you get sorted soon.
