  • Well, we've done all our DMP letters and have a huge heap of photocopying to do tomorrow ready to send off to CCCS.

It's horrifying to realise that we're £43k in the red but, at the same time, a huge relief to feel that we're actually trying to do something useful about it!

I am looking forward to shredding / returning the cards of the damned and having credit options removed from my reckless hands!

Rather than dwelling on redundancy and everything else that went belly-up we just have to deal with the reality of the situation. Bring on frugal-future and being forced to budget (for the first time ever).

    :)
  • BTW, how do you make the footnote things at the bottom of posts - I need to wear my debt on my sleeve!

I dislike Hellifax a great deal!!!!!!!!!!

Sent them a letter last month saying that I'm increasing my payment from October and would they consider reducing interest again (they have never stoped it). I know they don't have too and it is always their "goodwill" if they do but I explained that I am now being penalised, by them, becuase I have worked hard to increase my payments (2nd time in 18 months). Due to the way CCCS calculate payments I am now paying above minimum payment to them, therefore as far as they are concerned I am not in financial difficulty! I did send my list of creditors with my letter and they did acknowledge my financial difficulties:mad:
I've got a weeks holiday in November so think I will write again and hope it reaches someone who is reasonable and has some sense!!!!!

I am also in a bit of a tizz because I would usually update my spreadsheet this weekend but I can't, as I've no idea what my new increased payments are to all my creditors until I get my CCCS statement. It was only a 10% increase so not a lot extra to each creditor but for some reason it has made me feel a little out of control:eek:

    Have a good evening though.

    Sx

I so understand what you say out about the 'out of control' feeling. It's so weird isn't it?
I've been able to increase my payment 3 times in about 15months - (only by teenie amounts though) but felt much the same.
Perhaps it's unsettling because it feels a bit like launching it all off into the ether again and being dependent on your creditors to re-assess where you stand.
    Good Luck with the Halifax!

(And hello and welcome to newbies, launching into the uncertain future for the 1st time!)

Hi everyone. Hope you're all OK. I have today received my welcome pack from CCCS which also states that they have made offers to my creditors regarding the DMP. So here's hoping it's all going to be OK. Have lots of missed calls today 'withheld numbers' but was not here to answer!! Sure they'll phone back if its urgent. Just want to get on with paying it all off now and hopefully see the balances going down rather than up with added interest. Take care.

  • Morning all! had my first annual review with Payplan this morning and due to my maternity leave which started on Monday, and all other things being taken into consideration, she has calculated that my payment must come down by two-thirds!!!

I've changed my standing order to them and this will take effect from the next payment, but she said I should be prepared for phone calls and letters to crank up again. I'm so frightened all over again, just like I was this time last year. It's because I'm so easily overcome by these finance bullies :(

Also, I had a standard letter from MBNA this morning just stating "you are on a management plan but if you mess up we will Default your credit file". Well guess what, Natwest (who I had banked with for 20 years) have already done this to two of my accounts, so I guess it's stuffed now anyway?

All support gratefully received - what I really want is to enjoy my maternity leave and look forward to my new arrival :( BLOODY DEBTS!!!

    CC xx
I know! I was worried when they reduced mine by £50!
Please try not to worry, keep telling yourself that PP are the experts, they know how much you can reasonably live on and trust them to sort it out. Hey, with the cuts this week, it won't be long until the creditors realise how lucky they are to get anything back off us!:p
This wee baba is the most important thing in your life, as you well know, so sod 'em, they can wait, you've got a big bump to take care of!!:)

Welcome, Ifyoucan'tbeat'em (love the name) and all our other Newbies, I'm reading through all your stories, please keep posting and let us know how you are getting on.

Hey, Twitty, you know how I feel about the Halifax and I had to smile to myself when you said "Good Luck". Having had a mare with them, it's a bit like saying "Good Luck with that hand grenade you're carrying. Where's the pin, by the way?". What would we do without you? You're a doll!!!!!:)

Hi cupc4kes I've had a direct debit set up by CCCS I think and it says Foundation for Credit Counselling although it doesn't state a payment date we were due to start 1st November but when they phoned us Monday they said the payment would go from our account on the 10th as it was too late to set up for the 1st. Glad to hear you and baby are well. :)

  • Hi all, I am still a bit of a lurker, but finding solace in the positivity of others. Debt hell feels like a bit of a lonely scary place to be right now.
Lloyds TSB are still sending letters even though I have made token payments whilst awaiting payments to commence with CCCS. I had my appointment 3 weeks ago and returned all of my paperwork 10 days ago, but have had nothing back from them. How long does it take cccs to notify the lender?

Hello, the first month is longer than hell, I think. Once you've made the decision to get up and running and you are so keen to get on (and for the phone calls to stop!) it seems as if everything goes into slow motion.
I'm with Payplan, so am not sure how CCCS work, but rest assured that it is all being sorted out, making the call and returning the paperwork is all you can do right now. All will be well! (That's turning into my battle cry, haha!):o
