  • Morning all! had my first annual review with Payplan this morning and due to my maternity leave which started on Monday, and all other things being taken into consideration, she has calculated that my payment must come down by two-thirds!!!

I've changed my standing order to them and this will take effect from the next payment, but she said I should be prepared for phone calls and letters to crank up again. I'm so frightened all over again, just like I was this time last year. It's because I'm so easily overcome by these finance bullies :(

Also, I had a standard letter from MBNA this morning just stating "you are on a management plan but if you mess up we will Default your credit file". Well guess what, Natwest (who I had banked with for 20 years) have already done this to two of my accounts, so I guess it's stuffed now anyway?

All support gratefully received - what I really want is to enjoy my maternity leave and look forward to my new arrival :( BLOODY DEBTS!!!

  • Hi

When are you due CC? Im due in Jan :) I think if it hadnt of been for going on maternity leave soon, then I well me and OH wouldnt of faced up to how much debt we have. We've just sent all our letters out and now we're just waiting to hear so maybe we could see it through together being as we are in pretty much a similar situation :). Has anyone heard from Helena83?
  • Hello! Newbie here. I've been lurking for months, and about to go on a DMP with CCCS. I'll bore you with the details of how we got there and how I reached my LBM later, when it's not my work lunch hour (!) as they often say a problem shared is a problem solved...

Well, DMP is the solution as my credit cards have all been paying each other off every month for the past three years while I've spent what little of my decent salary I've had left on reduced to clear food and kids clothes from charity shops and car boot sales. In otherwords, we've already made the necessary lifestyle sacrifices to go on a DMP anyway! I'm even kind of looking forward to it.

We've moved our joint a/c away from Barclays, as they are also one of my preditors. But other than the child benefit, it only ever has the food shopping money in it - our main accounts are kept separate. NO WAY will they try the 'setting off' tactic using my kids' money...If they even try (if only there was a smiley icon for a kick in the nuts...).

But my main account is with Santander. As the o/d is only £500, it is usually in credit for at least two weeks a month, so do I really have to change it? It sounds silly, but I quite like the convenience of having my cheque book to pay the milkman (I currently owe him £2.70, though, so perhaps I should add him to the DMP ;-)), and I don't really want the hassle of having to move all my bill payments or change any of the BACS payments that come into the account (I do some part time work as well as my main job, to keep the wolf from the door).

CCCS have said the overdraft must be included in the DMP, but if the account is in credit when the plan starts, surely this isn't relevant? Should I just phone Santander and ask them to remove the o/d facility from my account, as I won't actually need it in month 1 of the DMP anyway - instead of making £1493 worth of debt repayments, I'll be paying back £13 in token payments at £1 per creditor.

I've no worries about offset claims from Santander, as I have no debts with them or any of their linked institutions (believe me, I checked!)

Please help me - this is the one last link in the chain. If I don't have to change my account to a different bank to get things up and running, then I'm ready to press the 'Go' button next Payday!

And guys, you don't know me but I know you - I've been reading this thread for months. There's no way I could have arrived at this decision without you - you are good, good people. We're all in this together, right?
  • Cant see any issues with the account if you have the OD removed! - I think the point of accounts with NO facilities is that it encourages you to live on cash only! - You may be better off getting rod of the cheque book as well - better not to have the option! do you really need a milkman?
  • Good Morning

Another good start to the day, got letter from another creditor that have accepted and spoke to 2 others yesterday....now just need to get Santander to budge....
I also have a milkman, I know I can get milk cheaper but I do like the convenience, feel like I'm putting something back into the community and also find it nice to be able to exchange chat with him weekly..

    Good Afternoon all.

Received our default letters from Nat West Yesterday and then the bill for them today. Total of £60 added to the increasing balance of our Nat West debts. As per usual with me i've been digging around for info and searching old forums and can't seem to find anything positive about Nat West. Convinced they will go for the charging order on the house. ATM we have no equity on it as owe for a mortgage and secured borrowing.

Its a long way down the line but if they didn't accept the DMP and they went for the charging order. If (and its an outside chance)we were able to borrow the money off a relative would that be acceptable for inclusion on the DMP. It would have to be paid back with interest but its just one of those thoughts that goes through your head at 3am.
Talk about fearing the worst, our account hasn't even been transfered to their DCA yet!!

Hi all - haven't been on here much lately, but still been working away at clearing some of the debt. Pleased to report that we have recently been advised by Santander that they are refunding our PPI as we requested on our loan, which will pay off the loan and still leave some left over to apply towards another debt! Woohoo! Another one down!

I dislike Hellifax a great deal!!!!!!!!!!

Sent them a letter last month saying that I'm increasing my payment from October and would they consider reducing interest again (they have never stoped it). I know they don't have too and it is always their "goodwill" if they do but I explained that I am now being penalised, by them, becuase I have worked hard to increase my payments (2nd time in 18 months). Due to the way CCCS calculate payments I am now paying above minimum payment to them, therefore as far as they are concerned I am not in financial difficulty! I did send my list of creditors with my letter and they did acknowledge my financial difficulties:mad:
I've got a weeks holiday in November so think I will write again and hope it reaches someone who is reasonable and has some sense!!!!!

I am also in a bit of a tizz because I would usually update my spreadsheet this weekend but I can't, as I've no idea what my new increased payments are to all my creditors until I get my CCCS statement. It was only a 10% increase so not a lot extra to each creditor but for some reason it has made me feel a little out of control:eek:

    Have a good evening though.
