  • To all that are posting here at the beginning of their DMP personal journey!

I started my journey in 2004! I am with now with payplan and have only until Mar 11 to go!

It is hard and can be tough! But look at the advantages at the end of it! My credit file has pretty much repaired itself as over this time, I now look at every transaction in my life & No spend days are now not a rarity! and bit by bit I am having a really good quality of life!

Please all keep looking at these boards you see inspiration all over them! I just read them usually!

I would like to thank all for the support even though I rarely post!

KEEP THE FAITH YOU WILL GET TO YOUR DESTINATION:)
  • Hi all,

My journey is just starting with payplan, which hopefully will be clear in 4yrs,
new bank acc opened, everyone informed, letter/token payments sent.

Had a few upsets whilst on my quest to open a new account,
bank was trying to push an acc with an overdraft facility onto me as i work full time, when i declined she asked if i was having money problems!!!

    I felt so ashamed,

Anyways the burden, weight and stress is dropping off me everyday, and i can start to look forward to a new life and new (realistic) budgets!

Similar thing happened to me last week.

When i was in the Co-op enquiring about the Cashminder account the assistant advised me that this was mainly used for (and she whispered) "People with poor credit ratings or debt problems".

I just told her LOUD & PROUD that yes my credit rating was shot and i'm in serious debt and entering into a debt management plan, and i'm not ashamed of the fact. I made a mistake and i'm correcting it rather than trying to get out of it or blame someone else.

Never be ashamed, be proud that you're taking action!

    Take care

  • I was so emotional that day, i am proud to be dealing with my debts but deep down still feel a failure as i was irresponsible.

    We live and learn.

    Thanks

  • Paula,

You are not a failure! Never think that you will get there I promise!

Finacial meltdown is just a part of modern life some people never even take the steps you have taken!

I have a friend who I have pointed them to Payplan & CCCS given them website addy's and Phone numbers! She is 30k:eek: in the hole! She keeps moving address to avoid the creditors lives through her boyfriend bank account! hides from baliffs and the like! And has no money to do anything!

Are you now living with fear like that! I think not the first steps can be embarrasing, but at least you are now on the road to being in control!
  • :T Your right!

    Thank you x

    Well done you!
There is no shame in having financial difficulties. I'm certain there are lots of folk skulking in the background who are afraid to 'come out' (financially speaking!) Still trying to maintain the image of a comfortable lifestyle but in reality scratting around like headless chickens trying to make ends meet.
Just hope the Government axe doesn't chop too deep, for too many people.
I am 'proud to be poor' for these years, and able to make a little stretch a long, long way.
Welcome to all those recently joining our impoverished little group :)

Christmas will soon be here and gone, then you will be looking at a debt free future! :)
Thankyou so much for your sound advice, especially re:credit file repair.
I know I'm the gobby one :( but don't be shy. Please post again so we can all crack open the (virtual) champagne for you when the time comes :D

  • Hi all, I am still a bit of a lurker, but finding solace in the positivity of others. Debt hell feels like a bit of a lonely scary place to be right now.
Lloyds TSB are still sending letters even though I have made token payments whilst awaiting payments to commence with CCCS. I had my appointment 3 weeks ago and returned all of my paperwork 10 days ago, but have had nothing back from them. How long does it take cccs to notify the lender?

  • Morning, just had some goodish news, spoke to one of our current accounts where we had an o/d and they've accepted the DMP offer for a 12 months period...slowly getting there.
