Well, just had an hour of sorting out all of the account numbers and balances for the creditors and sorting the SOA out ready for my call with PayPlan on Thursday AM

It's funny, but after months of sitting on my hands and worrying myself to sleep, i feel kinda serene now its 'out in the open' (if that makes any sense!?!)

I know there are hard times ahead and there will be ups and downs for us as a family, but WE WILL get through this and it will make us stronger and closer as a result.

I've read that its best to open a new bank account while on a DMP with an organisation that is not a creditor - easier said than done as they are all slowly becoming one.

Who's my best option considering these are the creditors in question....

    Barclaycard
    Halifax Credit Card
    Monument
    Virgin
    Egg
    TSB Trustcard
    Halifax Credit Card
    Next
    Halifax Overdraft

    Ta!

    Chilli :-)

I have no idea, as like you say, they all merge together in the end.

However the Co-Operative Bank Cashminder account (It's a 'Basic' account) is a good bet. Just be aware there's not too many branches, though their telephone and online banking are great, and you can pay money (I think) and cheques into your account from any post office.

  • Co-Op???? We have one of those in our local town, so that's a bonus!

Will go and see them tomorrow and set the ball rolling.

  • Well Guys,

Having not posted for ages again, here I am!

We have just received a lump sum of inheritance and so plan to begin the painful process of F&F offers at the end of the week, it will take me til then to get letters typed and printed. I will keep you posted on how I do, maybe this would be a good diary to keep so that others can refer to it, its the one thing I have looked for loads on the site but not always got huge amounts of info.

Anyway in the mean time there's still the dmp to pay, and review fast approaching, and I'm pregnant and due in Jan so outgoings and income will change.

I hope you are all ok, and plodding on with dmp it was still the best decision we ever made.
  • I know exactly how you feel, I am usually the one with a smile and a kind word, but I went into a black cloud for about 2-3 weeks recently. Maybe it's because you can't escape any of it, the news is full of doom and gloom, and with the days shortening you just want to curl into a ball and eat shepherds pie and apple crumble! Maybe we were bears in a previous life (come to think of it, I may still be!).:)
It's hard to lift your spirits when you are like this, I usually find it's down to being tired more than anything, so maybe a long hot bath and bed early with a good book you love will help?
    All be well!!!

    Hi Toothfairy

    Thanks for the kind message.

Not sure what was going on yesterday but today I am back to my usual self and positive again!

Don't think going the whole day without anything to eat (forgot my lunch and I am determined not to spend money not allocated in my budget) helped.

Plus seeing those miners in Chile today finally getting rescued sort of puts my own problems into a very sharp perspective.

Good luck with them. Will look forward to hearing how you get along. Please do let us know if you set up a separate diary

  • Hello,

A friend is looking to start a DMP I have really tried to get him to talk to CCC's or Payplan (who I am with) but he still likes the sound of the company gregg berrington??? he will be paying 15% fees with them! He said he spoke to CCCs online and he said they told him he will have to send all the letters to the creditors himself (3 to each one) and this has put him off with Gregg Berrinton saying he will not have to do anything. He said they are on about an acount that has 2 pots in it??? He said he will give Payplan a call this lunch time to see what they say but I dont know what else to say to him to not pay the fees and go with Payplan or CCC's?!

    Any ideas? storys?

Well PayPlan I never had to send letters off to creditors, if that helps?

And regardless, going with a charging company, just because they send the letters for you? Seems a bit of a waste of money. Maybe worth doing some kind of snowball thing so they know how much quicker it'll be paid off if they went with a charity?
