Had a bit of a set back yesterday. Car needed new brake discs and pads at its MOT yesterday. Luckily I had cancelled my sharesave at work so I had some cash to pay for it although it was supposed to be the money for the pushchair for baby. So now I have shiny new brakes but no money again for baby stuff.
Also, only 9 more weeks at work so only 9 more weeks of work stress, debt stress coming to an end and we can start looking forward to a fresh start for the new year and a new baby.
Thanks to everyone for your support, there's no way I'd have been brave enough to do this on my own and I don't even care that my credit file now says I have missed payments on it!
Don't worry yourself silly trying to buy the 'bump' loads of STUFF. All a babe really needs is warmth, food and love.
Try recycle, E-bay etc for a pram or smile nicely at the soon to be proud Grandparents
Not only do the little tykes puke and poo all over their clothes they also outgrow them at a frightening pace. There is no shame in shopping at charity shops, car boot sales etc. You will be amazed at the lovely baby things you can buy for virtually pennies. You will also find friends/relatives will inundate you with gifts.
I recently saw a 'designer' top for a baby priced at £53-00  What kind of world do these people live in?
And well done - you've joined the 'I don't care what my credit file says, because I've got me a valuable life that is very special' club.
Just look forward to seeing your toenails again :rotfl:

Still, I seem to manage (just about!) from one month to the next...I was originally with Financial Helpline, but moved over to Payplan 10 months ago, and it's nice to see the debt shrink slightly quicker!
Hope you speak the language!
I have several Geordie friends and sometimes I find it best just to nod at what seems like appropriate moments
Some on here feel more comfortable with fee-collecting companies but I think probably most are with the 'charity' companies or doing-it-themselves.
Whatever - isn't it just such a buzz to see that total going down, down, down?

So right about the baby stuff and boot fayres etc. Mine were all winter babies so were generally in snuggly baby grows.
About the cost of designer stuff I saw a programme recently about people who buy the real life dolls and take them out and treat them like real babies. One lady was paying those prices for her dolls!!
She actually flew to America to pick up one of her 'babies'.
On another note. Oh the plans I made about what i'd do if i won the 113 million on the lottery. I was going to pay off all your debts. Unfortunately I am the unluckiest person with that sort of thing so don't hold your breath everyone!DMP mutual support member 3970 -

There's a selection here, one of them is the one you want.

Im a with a DMP company at the moment called Pedigree Financial, everything is running perfect with them.
However having read into all these forums, should you pay a fee for this??
I do get a good service from them, all interest is frozen ect, on payment comes out a month.
There fee is £3 per creditor per month and i have no stress, i have 5 creditors and paying £145 per month.
Is it worth the stress to do it yourself or is this fee reasonble??0 -
I laughed at LoubyLou 2's story of dolls. I remember picking up a pram for my second child at a car boot sale when I was quite heavily pregnant. My eldest daughter wanted this life-size doll and then placed it into the pram. She then went off with her dad, leaving me to push this doll in a pram! Can you imagine the stares!0

I've just got the first letter acknowledging the letters I sent to creditors last week. MBNA have sent a surprisingly nice letter saying they understand my financial difficulties and would like me to call them to go through my income/expenditure etc. Do I just ignore this and let CCCS deal with all that or should I be getting in touch with them?0
-
You don't need to contact them, however nice their letter is. Just let CCCS deal with everything. Good luck! MBNA is my biggest creditor and they accepted DMP with interest frozen immediately. I'd heard some horror stories about them but they seem have turned over a new leaf.DeeBee0

Well - after a while with my head in the sand (well quite a while actually) i added up my debts and made the call to PayPlan this evening. I was sooooo nervous i could hardly speak, but the guy at PP was superb and really put me at ease. I have a telephone appointment with a specialist on Thursday 8am to discuss in detail, and come up with a DMP.
Total Unsecured debts for me and the OH are £52k across 7 credit cards, a Next account and a 5k OD with the Halifax.
The CC's went through the industrial shredder at work this morning, and even that made me feel a lot better.
There are a few payments due this week - what should i do? Reading through this i presume i send 'token' payments to them all just to show i've not forgotten about them (i wish!!)?
So in essence.................. HIYA!!!
Gonna be around here for a good while now.LBM = 10/10/10
Debt at [STRIKE]14/10/10 = £56936.28[/STRIKE] --- 17/04/12 = £49673.01
