    Hi,

This is my first time on the forum so any help much appreciated.....

I'm trying to buy flights to New York for March 07 to surprise my boyfriend for his 30th birthday. Happy to go anytime in March, but my most preferred would be a long weekend (roughly Thurs-Mon/Tues) over the 17th and 18th.

I've used Martin's tips to search the delta site and can find delta 1 and delta 2 flights, but not the cheap cheap price. Here's what I'm getting:

Outbound: London-Gatwick, United Kingdom (LGW) to New York-Kennedy, NY (JFK) on Wed, 14 Mar 2007
    10:00am
    LGW 2:10pm
    JFK Nonstop Delta 2
    Boeing 767-300ER Coach (T)

Return: New York-Kennedy, NY (JFK) to London-Gatwick, United Kingdom (LGW) on Mon, 19 Mar 2007
    7:05pm
    JFK 6:25am
    LGW
Arrives 20 Mar Nonstop Delta 1
    Boeing 767-300ER Coach (L)

Price per passenger (GBP): £216.20 (GBP)
    + £40.20 Taxes/Fees = £256.40

I've also looked at Virgin and that's around £270 per person all in.

Can anyone offer any assisstance as to how to find any better prices on the above?

    Thanks!

It's St Patricks day Parade on the 17th March, so cheap flights will have gone by now and also the Hotel rates will be high.

    I'd book another weekend.
  • Thanks for that - I've been doing some more searching since adding the post and managed to find flights with delta 8th to 13th March 07 for £160, or continental from wed 14th to tues 20th for the same price.

It'd be nice to be there for st patrick's day but I'd rather go the weekend before if it's going to be really expensive. Any ideas how much more expensive hotels etc are at this time?

Has anyone tried booking through opodo? Flying on Continental, the price was £170 ... but using the current promotion (evoucher 'SALE'), the price comes out at £150.80

Edit: Ooops ... I read the entire thread and noticed blindman posted this tip a few pages back

They don't really exist and if you did have one it only reduces the FULL fare price, not the discounted cheapest tickets

Ah Blindman, but they do - but not mabye in the way that you imagine !!962.gif

say, for example, that the International Federation of Beaver Stuffers were having their Annual Confernece (lets call it Beaver Stuffex 2006 in Minniapolis on 25.10.06) then they may as a group arrange a group discount for a VERY restricted time frame, to one airport only. & to get this you would need to type in the code "Nice Beaver " to get the rate.

But for us mere mortal, non Beaver Stuffers, the code would be useless.tongue00154kq.gif

  • St Patricks day hotel rates shouldn't be too bad. This year I was there and I think I stayed at the Hilton using priceline for £85 a night.
